¡SELF HARM TRIGGER WARNING!

The sun was quickly disappearing behind the horizon and creeping in was the moon, and there were laughs echoing down the halls of the bounty followed by excited words telling stories. Sensei Wu sat at the head of the table, and Jay, Kai, and Lloyd sat on one side, parallel to Cole, Nya, and Jay. As stories were being told, Lloyd spoke up in a bit of objection, "No, no that never happened!" he said, laughing softly as he interrupted Jay's story.

"Nope," Jay defended, "I'm pretty sure it did. I remember because we were watching you and you said 'If I see any girls in here-"

"I'M GONNA GO BALLISTIC!" all the other ninja chimed in, laughing until they cried.

Lloyd's face grew red and Kai chuckled, elbowing him teasingly, "Come on kid, we're just joking around. Ok-" Kai wouldn't be able to finish that sentence, as Lloyd shoved a bowl of salad in Kai's face, snickering but then yelping when Cole threw a chicken leg back at the Green Ninja. Then, it just went crazy, everyone throwing food at each other, and even Sensei Wu got in on it. However, this picture perfect moment would all come to an end when Kai turned behind the table and vomited, earning a deserved gag and scream from everyone else, and a few chuckles when they figured it would happen. However, when Kai didn't sit back up straight, it went quiet.

No one had dared look at what Kai had brought back up, but when Sensei Wu did he regretted it instantly, glad no one else saw, "Into your rooms everyone, now," he ordered and everyone did as told, Jay and Lloyd jumping over the table to get out. Once they had left, Sensei walked to Kai and tried not to look at the puke that contained more blood than should be there, i.e any, "Kai?" Sensei Wu spoke softly, sitting beside Kai who still had his head down, "What's the matter?"

Kai chuckled a bit and said softly, "Thanks for not asking if I was okay..."

"Of course. You're clearly not okay," he laughed softly and smiled, "What seems to be the matter?"

"I don't know Sensei..." Kai spoke softly, his voice cracking as he was on the verge of tears, "I don't know what's wrong with me..."

"Oh there's plenty wrong with you. But let's focus on this okay?"

Kai laughed more and nodded, looking up at his Sensei with scared eyes. Wu smiled kindly and went to the kitchen, getting rags and he used Spinjitzu to clean up the mess. He offered Kai a hand and the red ninja took it, "Come. Let's get you into bed."

Kai took the hand and stood, but his legs shook and he sat back down, "Sensei I can't..."

"You can. Let me get you some help and we'll get you into Cole's room," he said and called Cole in, who went to help Kai. The two of them held Kai up as they walked into the room and gently laid him down on the bed. The two walked out and Lloyd quickly ran in as the two of them talked about what to do, and Lloyd went to Kai's side like a little puppy, "Hey what's wrong? Can I help? How are you feeling?"

"I don't know. No. And like shit," Kai answered, his skin already to go a bit pale, "Lloyd..." he said softly, noticing the other start to tear up, "I'm gonna be fine okay? It's just a little cold."

"It's not 'just a little cold!'" Lloyd screamed, starting to cry and Wu ran back in, grabbing Lloyd's arm and dragging him out with ease. He closed the door to the room and said to Lloyd, "Lloyd pull yourself together! Kai is too weak to take your anger!"

Lloyd fell to his knees and started crying, begging for Kai to get better. Nya entered the hall and gently yet firmly dragged Lloyd out to the deck and sat next to him, "Lloyd... He's going to be okay..."

"Nya... Wh-What if he isn't..?" Lloyd asked as his voice wavered.

"Then we'll jump off that bridge when we get to it... Okay..?"

Lloyd nodded and started crying, and Nya pulled him close and started crying as well.

And for two weeks it was like that, the two of them having random crying sessions.

It had been two weeks since Lloyd had seen Kai. He wasn't sure how he was doing anymore.

It had been two weeks since Lloyd had felt Kai's soft and warm skin. He wasn't sure how it really felt like anymore.

It had been two weeks since Lloyd had kissed him. He wasn't sure how Kai's lips felt anymore.

It had been two weeks since Lloyd saw Kai's eyes and melted in their beauty. He wasn't sure if they had lost their spark or not.

It had been two weeks, since he had the chance to say how much he loved Kai. He needed to make sure he was okay. He needed to know. But he couldn't see him.

It had been two weeks since he wore a t shirt or tank top. Two weeks he'd been basically living in sweaters.

It had been two weeks, since he first started cutting. He has two weeks worth of cuts and burns to his skin.

It had been one week since he overheard Sensei telling the rest that Kai was coming to an end, his flame starting to die.

It had been two weeks that this illness had been able to take a hold of Kai's body. And once Lloyd was able to go see him, he was scared. He didn't know how Kai looked, he wasn't sure. But he went in first thing in the morning and planned on staying there all day.

He opened the door quietly and was instantly taken aback by the putrid smell in the room, smelling just like death. Lloyd's eyes ran over to Kai's sleeping body, pale and his hair shiny and down across his face. He needed a shower, Lloyd knew it. Lloyd crept in and closed the door and went to Kai's side, and Kai's nose twitched as it smelled Lloyd's shampoo and cologne, and those once amber eyes opened and looked at Lloyd with such weakness. He tried to speak but nothing came out, only a slight whisper.

Lloyd gently touched Kai's cheek and silenced him, glad that Sensei knew Kai was not contagious, but not glad that the only cure for whatever Kai had was to let it work it's way out of his system, "Hey Kai..." he smiled weakly, "I don't want you to speak okay? Just listen to my voice and you don't have to say anything..." he kissed Kai's forehead and Kai reached for Lloyd's hand, and was able to get it in his. A light gasp exited Lloyd's mouth at how cold Kai felt, and the Green Ninja tried to regain himself, "Do you want anything? Food or a drink?"

Shaking his head, Kai closed his eyes for a while and then looked at him.

"Do you want anything at all? Maybe a shower or for me to brush your teeth or something?"

Kai nodded a bit eagerly and Lloyd smiled, nodding, "Alright. Let me get the bath going and I'll be right back," he smiled more and went, turning to go get it ready and he soon returned.

Once he had gotten Kai all clean, he put his hair up into a towel and wrapped another around Kai's body, getting a toothbrush and brushing his teeth. Once he finished, he noticed Kai seemed to be cold and Lloyd took off his jacket and put it around Kai, instantly regretting his actions when Kai noticed Lloyd's arms and he furrowed his eyebrows, "L-Lloyd..?" Kai croaked out, "Wh-What..." he coughed a bit, unable to say any more and Lloyd teared up, "I-I'm sorry Kai I am just so scared that you're not going to be okay and I just can't live without you and I'm so sorry..." he cried out, and Kai knew there was more to it but couldn't bring himself to make Lloyd go through that.

Kai held the other's cheeks in his hands and kissed his lips softly, and Lloyd kissed back and held Kai as close as he could, "I'm gonna be okay... Alright..?" Kai smiled a bit and Lloyd nodded, then dressed Kai and took his sweater back and set him into bed.

It was another two weeks until Kai was able to fully talk, and another two before he was able to do some light training. It was another two before Cole got his room back, and two days before the Earth ninja walked in on Lloyd and Kai in his room, and so, traumatized, he gave the room to Lloyd in return for the 'wonderful' images burned into his mind.

It was such a bad time, when Kai was sick. And Lloyd would never forget it, always remembering whenever he saw the scars on his skin. Kai would trace them, once in a while, whenever they were sleeping together. He would trace them with gentle hands and would make sure to tell Lloyd how beautiful and handsome he was, and that Kai was there to stay. He would kiss the bad ones once in a while too. He would kiss them and Lloyd would feel safe and okay, and knew that Kai was there to stay.

It would be another two weeks, before the first 'I love you's were exchanged, and Lloyd would make sure Kai never forgot it, because he never knew when something would change and one of them would be gone.
