Another update for you guys <3

The days passed slowly. June finally decided it was time to leave Lynlee alone, and would only come in the morning and afternoons to check her healing injuries. Despite Ratchet's complaints, she never did see much of the other Autobots or humans. They seemed nice enough, but the young girl was still weary.

Ratchet would roll his eyes every time Soundwave was brought into the conversation, and would shut down any questions thrown at him.

"Optimus knows what he is doing. While I disagree completely, he will no doubt let the two of you converse with each other sooner or later."

One yellow and black bot, Bumblebee, enjoyed keeping Lynlee company. It was sweet and all but there was really no point when she couldn't understand a single thing he was saying. Most of his actions were a series of beeps, whirs, and excited hand movements. The quiet human, graph, was there from time to time, but never approached her.

After two weeks, Lynlee was beginning to grow bored. Was she meant to sit there forever? At least she had things to do back on the Decepticon ship with Soundwave. Her fingers twitched at the thought of getting her hands on her sketchbook, but it was useless to think about. No doubt they had already disposed of her stuff.

Everything she had ever loved other than her mother.

Thinking about it brought tears to her eyes, but she pushed herself off of the tiny bed rather than cry. The distinct sound of clicking rang throughout the room as Ratchet continued with his work. He cried out when his optics finally landed upon the healing girl.

"You cannot stand, let alone walk around! Healing takes rest-"

"My butt's numb. I need to move around." Lynlee grumbled while struggling to take another step.

"Wait until June hears about your disobedience, you-"

"Perhaps Lynlee is right in acting out." The deep voice of Optimus Prime rang out, making the girl jump. Her dark hair flew around as she turned her head quickly and tilted it up in order to meet the Autobot leader's eyes.

He stared down at her with a small smile.

"Optimus-"

"I will take her into my care for a few hours."

Ratchet's optics widened as Optimus' servo gently scooped Lynlee off the floor, making sure not to jostle her around. The medic forced himself not to protest as the two slowly made their way out of the base.

Lynlee clung onto the large metal hand she sat upon for what felt like forever. Soon, the two were on top of a large rock- what she assumed to be the top of the Autobot base. Optimus walked towards the edge. Out of instinct, Lynlee twisted farther to the back of his hand out of fright.

The sudden movement jostled her ribs and drew out a small cry of pain.

"Are you okay?" Optimus stopped moving and let his optics scan over the girl as he slowly sat down and let his legs dangle over the edge. The femme gave a small, pained smile.

"Yes, thank you. Sorry, I guess I'm just scared of heights." She'd never noticed that before, but being handled by giant alien robots had played a major part in her fear. Mainly of being dropped and falling to an excruciating death.

"I am glad to hear that, young one."

Lynlee gently stepped off of Optimus' hand as he lowered it beside him. The two sat in silence for what felt like forever. The sun was lowering. She wondered what time it was.

"O-optimus?" Her small voice asked.

The tall bot tilted his head to look down at her, and already guessed her question, "Is Soundwave okay? Ratchet said you wouldn't hurt him, but he's kind of scary sometimes." She had a hard time believing him.

Optimus nodded. "Soundwave is safe. Ratchet has given him regular check-ups and he seems to be healing well."

"When can I see him?"

Lynlee played with her hair nervously. The Prime glanced down at her, thinking back to his discussion with Soundwave. While Soundwave did not use his own voicebox for very long, it was enough to spark surprise in him.

Soundwave had not spoken for a very long time. The vow to stay silent went as far back as the time Optimus had been wrongly accused of murdering Soundwave's carrier and sire. Hearing his voice after all this time was like a silent trigger.

He spilled every single secret he knew, from the codes to unlock the Nemesis' cloaking system, to every single location of energon mines discovered by the Decepticons- there were hundreds.

"Optimus?" Lynlee's voice asked curiously.

"How did you first come in contact with the Deceptions?" The only way to determine Soundwave's trustworthiness was to make sure everything he'd told about Lynlee was true. As much as he wanted to trust the Decepticon, a bot could never be too careful.

Lynlee bit her lip. "I first saw him in the woods close to my home. I was living with my mother at the time-"

And so the story came spewing out. Every single detail, up until her capture and then everything thereafter on the Decepticon warship. Optimus listened patiently, never interrupting or showing any lack of attention.

"He wanted my necklace. I don't know why, I still don't understand everything about your war. Soundwave had it for a while. I honestly just felt so lonely without it- it's the only thing that remains of my mom." Her voice cracked, making her pause.

The sun was setting now. Brilliant colors crossed over the sky, but Lynlee felt too sad to admire them. She simply sat there in silence as she tried to find her voice again.

"A lot of weird stuff happened too, with Soundwave. It's hard enough losing mom, and then everything happened so quickly and I didn't know what to do. Soundwave managed to hide me from everyone and grab a few things from home. I don't know if I could have survived without him."

She mentioned the dreams, but didn't go much into them. Lynlee couldn't bare revealing so much about her past, let alone Megatron's attempts to harm her. A few tears leaked out of her eyes and she sniffled, gently rubbing her shirt against her nose.

Optimus stared down at the girl. Soundwave's story matched with hers, but now he felt immense pain in his spark for making her relive those moments of pain. Lynlee flinched when she felt a metal finger gently touch her head, but she soon found herself leaning into his surprisingly warm touch.

"I know it is hard losing those close to you. War will bring pain and sparkache- I am sorry for the pain that this war has brought upon you, young one. This is not your fight." Optimus said softly.

Lynlee let out a sob at his kind words. She wiped at her eyes with her sleeve. "I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't be crying." A sad laugh escaped her. "I have to be strong. I know it's not your fault, Optimus. It's Megatron's. He did this."

The sky was now dark, and she was having a hard time seeing the look on the Autobot leader's face. "I must thank you for enduring everything until now, Lynlee. And while I wish you were never involved, I thank you for being with Soundwave."

Lynlee said nothing, but knew what Optimus meant. Without her, Soundwave might have never discovered the truth about Megatron and Soundwave's parents. Despite now knowing that Soundwave knew the truth, the Prime still felt guilt.

Perhaps he could have saved Razorwing rather than letting him die.

"I miss him a lot." Lynlee cut off his thoughts. "I can't wait to see him again."

She had so many questions. Her encounter with Primus left her confused and curious. He'd said that Soundwave was her sparkmate, but she had no clue what that even was.

A much smaller hand touched her shoulder and something bright was placed in front of her face. The girl gasped in surprise to find a man with dark brown hair- around thirty years old- standing beside her.

"Optimus?" Her jaw dropped. She'd forgotten about Soundwave's ability to turn into a human, and hadn't even considered the Autobot's abilities to do so. Optimus wore a red and blue jacket lined with white, along with a pair of blue jeans and boots. He was well built, unlike Soundwave's human form, and a kind smile was on his face.

Her gaze fell to the glowing object in front of her face. The necklace.

Without meaning to, her tiny hands reached out and snatched the glowing stone between her hands before pulling it to her chest. "Did Soundwave give it to you?" her voice trembled out.

Optimus nodded. "I do not know how your carrier came into contact with that stone, but it is called Synthetic energon. It is a very important key to reviving Cybertron."

"You mean this little thing can revive an entire planet?" Lynlee gasped out.

"Yes, little one."

Her eyes shifted to the synthetic energon again. "Mom said she found it in a cave and woke up in her bed the next morning. She couldn't remember getting home, and this has been with her since. Well, before she gave it to me."

"I understand." Optimus placed his hand out, but she didn't want to give it back. It felt like she was losing her mother all over again. The Autobot leader noticed her distress and gave a small smile. "That stone is important in winning this war. Ratchet will need to inspect it in order to discover the complete formula, but no harm will come to it."

Lynlee hesitated. "You won't take it away from me?"

"We only require to unlock the formula, and then you can have it back. Alas, the Decepticons will still be searching for it, so it cannot leave this base."

She stared into his strikingly blue eyes and a kind face. With a sigh, she loosened her hold on her mother's necklace and placed it in his hands. His human form disappeared and his robot form started to move moments after.

He gestured for her to step on his hand, which she did with care. It was time for the two to go back inside. Surprisingly, she felt a lot better. "Hey, Optimus?"

The bot hummed as he stepped towards her bed again. "Thank you for letting me talk to you about... everything."

He gave a small smile and nodded in reply. Ratchet was still tapping away at the keys, but now the rest of the Autobots were standing around. All optics fell on the two as they made their way closer.

"I will make sure you get to speak to Soundwave soon, young one." Optimus promised. Lynlee's eyes lit up with happiness.

"Really?" She grinned as he nodded, and felt peace as she was placed back down. "I can't wait!"

Lynlee was really going to see Soundwave. But her curiosity was getting the better of her. She wasn't sure if she could wait for all her answers to be answered.

"Hey Optimus, I have a question."

"Yes, young one?" Optimus paused from walking away.

"What's a sparkmate?"

A surprise look fell upon the Prime's face as the others gasped and Ratchet sputtered in panic.

"What?!"
