Chapter 9
Chris looked at Tom as soon as the latter took of his helmet, grabbed his chin and turned his head, so he could take a look at Tom's cheek.
"Who did this to you, man?"
Tom sighed. He knew this question would come. He had just hoped he could avoid answering it a little longer.
"I provoked my stepfather. It's nothing to worry about."
Chris rolled his eyes. Did this idiot really believe he shouldn't worry?
"What did you do?"
Tom shrugged and Chris eyed him up. "So bad that you don't even wanna tell me? Afraid I'd beat you as well, or what?" Chris grinned. He had no idea that Tom actually was afraid to upset him. "He didn't beat me", Tom said quickly as he looked at his more or less boyfriend. "He just slapped me. I'd call it a natural reaction."
Again Tom shrugged and Chris decided not to bug him anymore about it. For now.
He really wanted to have an overall look over everything that happened concerning his group, and Tom somehow made it really hard for him in the last time. Chris didn't know what to make out of that, for Tom had been his longest and closest friend, out of all of them, but somehow he started to question his authority in the last time. He started talking back, seemed not to trust him with his problems anymore, maybe was even hiding something.
Chris held back a sigh as the two of them entered the "council", as they called a small yard in the city, where the "Sabertooths" had their weekly meeting. He had decided to bring the matter up. Maybe everything would go back to normal afterwards.
As much as Lenny already was used to Tom constantly having bruised in his face, or on his chest, or basically everywhere somebody could get a proper punch to, he decided to talk to Chris about it. Maybe even mention it in the meeting today, even though he knew that Tom probably wouldn't forgive him for doing so. He liked to keep his matters to himself, but Lenny really wanted to help him. To raise awareness of the problem, which was quite obviously there, before Tom really got himself hurt.
Will sat in his room, thinking about Thomas. He had only seen the man for a few minutes, but something about him was very capturing and maybe even alluring. He had never met someone with so deep eyes. They weren't honest at all. Something refreshing for the young man. In his family honesty and truth came at first place, but in this man's eyes there seemed to be so many secrets to discover, that Will could spend weeks over weeks looking at nothing else without getting bored. Deep inside him, he felt the wish brew to get to know this man. To get to know all about his soul. And to let himself trust Thomas. Let Thomas see everything about him. The small things that he would never lie out in the open. The things that only the most trusted people were allowed to see. The edges of his soul, nobody, not even Will himself, discovered.
And all this he makes me feel with merely his eyes, Will thought and laughed about his own stupidity.
