"Neith, where are you?" Anka shouted as she searched for her ten year old daughter.

"Maybe she is hiding in the closet," Ammon said and he headed towards the chocolate brown wooden closet situated at the far end of their room.

"Here she is," Ammon said picking up his dirty daughter who happened to been covered in mud and had a few twigs entangled in her coal coloured hair.

"Ah! Put me down papa. I don't want to take a bath," Neith said banging her fists into her father's chest, trying to get away.

"Then why did you jump into the puddles and then run straight into the bush after seeing me. Look at you, you're covered in mud and leaves," Ammon said trying to rub some of the mud that stained her rosy cheeks.

Anka stood by silently, smiling at the two while she touched her swollen belly. Her heart always seemed to swell at the sight of the duo. The two people whom she cherished more than life itself.

Ammon took Neith to have a bath but ended up taking one himself as Neith managed to drench him completely. After the bath Ammon put Neith to bed and read her a story as he did so most nights.

"And that's how the ants drove away the mean grasshoppers from their land," Ammon said softly, closing the story book and putting it aside. He then kissed his sleeping daughter on the forehead and tip toed out of the room.

"You look exhausted," Anka said giggling as she leaned back against the door frame looking at her husband who had collapsed on the bed, his arms and legs spread out.

"Neith is finally asleep," Ammon said with relief.

"But I thought you loved playing with her." Anka said in a teasing tone. Ammon was clumsy and Neith always seemed to get the better of him. It was so funny to watch them and it was hard not to fall further in love with the man she wedded and the daughter she adored.

"I do, and Neith is my little princess but man she can be a handful at times um.... well most of the time and although I love her more than the world itself putting her to sleep is such a relief.  You're truly amazing for managing her all day," Ammon said still lying on the bed.

"Well it's true, I'm pretty amazing," Anka said flipping her hair. Ammon chuckled at this and Anka smiled walking towards him.

"Um... so how is our Johnny doing," Ammon asked stoking Anka's swollen belly.

"He's doing fine. He doesn't kick as much as he used to though," Anka said placing her hand on his.

"Seems like he'll become an excellent footballer when he grows up, just like his dad," Ammon said with pride as he placed a soft kiss on her belly.

"Puff... I hope not. You played a few sessions and quit to become a lawyer. When was the last time you kicked a ball?" Anka said rolling her eyes.

"Hey! We still won the Cup and you kissed me right in the middle of the field remember," Ammon said looking like a wounded animal.

"You only won the cup cause I was cheering you on," Anka said with a straight face.

"Woah woah! Hold on, do you even know how distracting you were? I couldn't even look at you that day. Your cheerleader costume was too short and distracting, that high ponytail kept swaying left and right and that pink lip gloss you wore had too much glitter. It took all of my will power to not kiss you in the middle of the game you know. My friends made fun of me for a whole week cause that glitter got stick to my lips and I looked like a hooker thanks to you," Ammon said with a flustered look.

Anka was taken aback by the words Ammon said. He still remembered her look from twelve years back? A small smile made its way across Anka's lips and she leaned in and hugged Ammon tightly, burying her face into his chest as a few stray tears made their way down her face.

"Hey, what's wrong?," Ammon asked  immediately concerned.

"It's nothing, just hormones going insane. I love you," Anka said wiping away her tears that seemed to flow without hesitation.

"I love you too," Ammon said relaxing a bit and held his wife in his arms, stroking her back gently. They stayed like that till Anka fell asleep soundlessly in his warm arms.

"Neith, did you take your lunch box?" Anka asked her daughter as she searched for the house keys.

"Yes, mom. What did you pack for lunch?" Neith asked standing by the door in her grey and white uniform.

"Cheese grill sandwich, some roasted nuts and a juice box honey," Anka said grabbing the keys.

"Shall we leave?" Ammon asked putting on his watch.

"Yup," Anka said as she took Ammon's lunch bag from the kitchen counter.

"Eat everything, I packed you a salad with fish fry and a boiled egg," Anka said handing the bag to Ammon.

"Yes professor," Ammon said teasingly. Anka elbowed him in the gut and Neith just rolled her eyes at the sight of her parents.

All of them left in the Ammon's car. Neith sat in the front and Anka sat behind.

"Ok princess, remember to eat your lunch completely and drink lots of water. Always be kind and don't get into any fights" Ammon said as he removed Neith's seatbelt.

"Yes dad," Neith said with a smile. Although she was a little sick of hearing the same dialogue every day she could never bring herself to tell her dad to stop saying it. So she endured it by smiling.

"Good girl," Ammon said and kissed her forehead. He and Anka watched her run towards the school gate before driving off.

"Are you sure you still want to teach at the university?" Ammon asked  Anka as they were waiting for the signal to turn green.

"Yes, Ammon I'm sure. I'm only in my second trimester so I'll be fine. Stop worrying so much," Anka said shaking her head in disapproval.

"I know but I just don't want you to stress yourself too much," Ammon said looking completely worried as he always did before dropping her off at work.

"What's there to stress about? I only take a couple of lectures a day and most of my colleagues help me if I need anything," Anka said with a smile. Ah! How can he worry so much about everyone else she wondered.

"Alright but if you get tired just take the day off, ok," Ammon said as he stopped in front of the university.

"You worry too much. I'll be fine," Anka said as she moved in and kissed Ammon before getting down. Ammon watched her walk inside the campus before he headed towards his office.

*********

"Alright class, today a new student is going to join us. I want all of you to be nice to him ok?" Mrs Pepper said cheerfully. Mrs Pepper was a newly wedded teacher who taught the third grade. She was a tall, blonde and warm person that everybody loved. She would always bake the kids something nice every week so all of her students adored her as well.

"Oh.. so it's a boy," the girls said and giggled.

A small boy walked inside with his head held high. His shoes where as shiny as a mirror and his brown hair was neatly combed to the side. But what really made him stand out was his emerald eyes. Neith seemed to be mesmerized by them.

"Say hello to Aahotep. He just moved to our neighbourhood so be nice to him," Mrs Pepper said in her usual soft voice.

"Neith isn't the new kid cute?" Akila Neith's best friend said from behind her.

"Ya he is but he doesn't seem to look too friendly," Neith said as she took another look at this Aahotep. He looked like a spoilt kid to her.

"Aahotep why don't you sit beside Neith. She will help you out with anything you might have difficulty with," Mrs Peppers said pointing towards an empty seat beside Neith.

"But I don't want to sit beside a girl," Aahotep said immediately his face looking horrified.

"Now now there is no need to be rude to your fellow classmates. I'm sure you two will get along quite well," Mrs Peppers said giving Aahotep an encouraging push in Neith's direction. He didn't say anything more and took a seat beside her but the look on his face said everything he held inside.

"Hi, I'm Neith. You can ask me anything about the school or subjects if you don't understand. I can help since I'm the class rep," Neith said stretching out her hand. She wanted to lighten the ominous mood that seemed to have set in.

"Look, I don't like girls so please don't talk to me so causally," Aahotep said as he removed a new book and pencil from his bag totally ignoring Neith's out stretched palm.

"You're right Neith, the new kid isn't nice at all," Akila whispered to Neith.
Before she could reply Mrs Pepper started off with class.

Classes rolled on and Aahotep was the popular discussion among the kids. He had won over a few of the boys in his class already. He seemed to be at ease with them than the girls.

Akila and Neith kept their distance from him but the rest of the girls flocked around the new boy like a couple of fan girls at a Justin Bieber concert. The day stretched on slowly and finally school came to an end.

"Ah! I'm too hungry I can eat a whole chocolate cake right now," Akila moaned as she and Neith walked towards the school gate.

"Ya me too," Neith said rubbing her growling belly.

"Neith look, it's that new kid. Woah! that car looks so cool. Guess he really is a rich spoilt kid," Akila said pointing to a black shiny Benz by the gate.

"Omg the cute boy is rich too. Do you think he will ask me out? I must be his type," Bella said to one of her friends. Bella Adams was an angel according to the boys in her grade. She was a typical example of a Barbie doll, blonde, cute, rich and well cute. Her father owned an few oil mines and some other real estate so she was always a pampered child.

"Do you really want Mr. Grumpy face to be your boy friend?" Neith asked looking at her with confusion. She couldn't understand why anyone would like that boy. He was such a pumpkin headed moron.

"Oh Neith he is just so cute. Who won't want to date him?" Bella asked looking totally love struck.

"I would rather eat worms than go anywhere near that guy," Neith said with disgust.

"Oh come on he isn't that bad. Who knows maybe you'll fall for him too," Bella said with a wink. Neith shuddered at the thought. There was no way she would ever like a guy like him she thought.

"You know there are other guys that are better than that kid right," Akila said pointing towards the place Aahotep had got into the car.

"Ya but.. he is just so cute. Neith you have to help me out," Bella said looking dreamy again as she took Neith's hand in hers.

"No way, not this time and definitely not for that guy. You'll just come crying back saying how he broke your heart. I really can't go through your heart break phase again," Neith said freeing her arm from Bella's.

"But.. Neith I..." before Bella could finish the school bus had come to pick up the kids.

"Goto go. See you tomorrow," Neith said pulling Akila and rushing towards the bus, thanking the gods above for saving her.

"That girl seriously never learns does she," Akila said sighing.

"Hopefully she does one day," Neith said taking the window seat. Today was a little too exhausting and all she wanted was to eat something sweet and head to bed.

********

The next week rolled on quite roughly for Neith as Aahotep seemed to be getting on her nerves. But today Aahotep had gone too far.

"Calm down, just take a deep breath and let it all go," Akila said trying to calm a very red and very angry Neith.

"How dare he, I will knock out all his teeth," Neith said getting even angrier.

"Hey hey, calm down girl. Forget it now and eat your lunch. We have PT next so you need some energy," Akila said slightly worried Neith would actually go and punch Aahotep.

"He humiliated me in front of the whole class. How could he slap me? I said I was sorry about dropping the paint on him. I didn't do it intentionally. It was an accident. He didn't have to go that far," Neith said turning even redder.

"And he got detention for a week and extra homework too so calm down," Akila said holding Neith's hand.

Neith was so embarrassed at the moment. Even Miss Pepper was taken aback by the incident.

Neith didn't have an appetite to eat lunch so she told Akila she would go for a run. Akila didn't stop her cause she knew that Neith had to let out her frustration. At least she was doing it in a healthy way.

Neith changed into her PT clothes and started to jog. Soon lunch break got over and the students gathered in the large ground that seemed to be a little busy due to football practice.

"Feeling better?" Akila asked Neith who seemed to be breathing hard and sweating slightly.

"Ya... much," she said wiping the sweat off her forehead.

"Alright guys, today we are going to play volleyball. Let's divide the class into four sets and start," Coach Max said. He called out eight students into a single set. Each set is then divided into four groups who take either side of the net. Unfortunately Aahotep and Neith seemed to be on the same team.

"Don't do anything stupid," Akila said to Neith before going off to her team.

The game started and both Neith and Aahotep tried to stay away from each other which made them loose quite a few points.

"We are going to loose the game because of you," Aahotep said giving Neith a glare.

"What! You're blaming me for losing when you couldn't even hit a single ball that came your way?" Neith said completely losing it.

"Woah! Hold on the ball never came my way. Don't just tell whatever comes to your mind," Aahotep said angrily.

They started arguing loudly and since the coach had gone on a toilet break there was no one to stop things from heating up further.

No one seemed to be notice a football heading towards Aahotep except Neith who only saw it at the last moment from the corner of her eye.

"Look out!" Neith yelled as she pushed Aahotep out of the way but before she could dodge, the ball hit her temple with full force and she hit the hard ground with a thud causing almost everyone present near her to gasp. She was rushed to the nurses room immediately.

"There is nothing to worry about. She just passed out cause of the impact of the ball," Nurse Alice said to the Coach.

"Ah! Thank God," Coach Max said with relief.

"So Neith's gonna be alright right Miss Alice?" Akila asked still unsure.

"Absolutely," Alice said with a smile.

The rest of the class returned back to continue with the exercise except Aahotep. He asked coach to excuse him for a while since he wasn't feeling too well from the fall.

"Um..." Neith moaned as she stirred around a bit before opening her eyes.
She turned her head to the side and saw Aahotep staring at her.

She immediately sat upright but moaned from pain that seemed to be causing an internal storm in her head.

"Careful," Aahotep said getting up to touch her head but immediately sat back down.

"Am I in the nurse's office?" Neith asked looking around.

"Ya," Aahotep said looking away.

"Why are you here?" Neith asked a little harshly.

"Well I... um... I got hurt from the fall so the nurse asked me to rest up for sometime," Aahotep lied, scratching the nape of his neck.

"What do you mean? I took the hit right so how could you be injured?" Neith asked eyeing Aahotep suspiciously.

"Why did you do that?" Aahotep asked looking at Neith.

"I saw the ball so I pushed you," Neith said confused as to why he was asking such a stupid question.

"But you hate me. You could have just let the ball hit me," Aahotep asked looking at Neith with confusion as to why she would help him after what he had done to her.

"Ya so? I couldn't let the ball hit you after I saw it. I would have done that for anyone," Neith said.

"Well thanks. You can ask me for something in return so my debt to you can be over," Aahotep said coldly.

"Why would I ask you for anything. Besides you don't have any debt with me," Neith said flatly.

"Just ask something," Aahotep said annoyed that the girl in front of him was being so difficult.

"Why are you like this? Why do you hate girls and act like such a pumpkin head?" Neith asked angrily. She held her head as it ached even more now.

"Excuse me! Did you just call me a pumpkin head?" Aahotep asked looking at her in shock.

"Yes now answer my question pumpkin head," Neith said.

"Why would I after you just insulted me again?" Aahotep asked still shocked that she called him a pumpkin head again.

"You were the one who asked me to ask you something," Neith said looking at him with a flat face. Did he have some sort of memory loss she wondered.

"I asked you to ask me for something like money or accessories not a question," Aahotep said sighing.

"I don't like accessories nor do I need your money just answer my question," Neith said looking angry. Why would she ask him for money? Was he really ok in the head?

"I can't tell you that," Aahotep said getting up to leave.

"First you ask me to ask something then you don't answer it. Seems like you can't keep your word," Neith said.

"Hey! I keep my word. This is just something I don't want to talk about," Aahotep said turning around. He looked hurt.

"I can keep a secret so just tell me already," Neith said a little impatiently. She really wanted to know why he hated girls. He seemed to have stayed beside her while she was unconscious so she knew he wasn't a cold hearted boy he portrayed to be.

"Promise you won't tell anyone," Aahotep said sitting back down.

"I promise," Neith said sincerely. This somehow seemed to comfort Aahotep.

"My dad has a lot of money and since he is a widower a lot of women flock to him like ducks do when they find food. Since I was a kid all those women would try to use me to get close to my dad. That's why I hate girls," Aahotep said looking down as he fiddled with his fingers. He hadn't told anyone of this before. He was worried that Neith would laugh at him for thinking like this.

"Ah! So that's why. I don't know what kind of women you have met but not all of them are like that. There are some pretty strong women out there, you just haven't met them yet," Neith said with a smile. So that's why he hates girls. It made sense to her now. Her smile seemed to lift Aahotep's spirits and he felt his heart beat a little faster.

"So you don't think I'm stupid for thinking like that?" Aahotep asked a little taken back by her reaction. He totally hadn't expected her to say something like that.

"No, your reasons are somewhat valid but I still think you need to change your thought about women soon though," Neith said then moaned a bit while touching her head.

"Does it still hurt?" Aahotep asked concerned.

"A little," Neith said.

"Where does it hurt," Aahotep asked.

"My temple," Neith said messaging it a bit.

Aahotep leaned in and kissed her temple.

"I think I'll take your advice and change my perspective on women. Hope you feel better soon," Aahotep said with a smirk and bolted out of the room leaving Neith totally surprised with her mouth wide open.

Her first thought being papa is going to kill him.
