chapter one
chapter one
The night air in Konoha was unusually still. While the rest of the Hidden Leaf Village slept peacefully under the protective gaze of the stone faces on the Hokage Monument, there was one who wasn't, he was within the Namikaze estate. In the shadows of a small, unadorned bedroom.
An thirteen-year-old boy was getting everything ready to leave
His name was Naruto Namikaze.
He moved through the dim bedroom, stuffing the final essentials into a worn canvas backpack. He packed a few changes of dark clothing, a handful of ration bars, some non-perishable snacks, and a small leather pouch containing a few hundred dollars.
Stopping for a moment, Naruto paused to look around the space. This was supposed to be his home. Yet, looking at the bare walls, it had never felt like anything more than a temporary shelter.
Naruto was the oldest of quintuplets. By birthright, the mantle of clan heir should have been his. However, five years ago, that title was officially and publicly stripped away. His father, Minato, had already chosen a successor among the younger siblings, mapping out a grand future to train them as the Fifth Hokage. The youngest sibling received grueling, elite training daily, showing immense potential to become a legendary shinobi. In fact, all four of his younger siblings were molded to be living legends, the glorious legacy that would carry the proud names of the Uzumaki and Namikaze clans into the future.
The reason for their greatness lies beneath their seals. Each of his four siblings held a fraction of the Nine-Tails' soul and its massive, catastrophic power. They were highly protected, pampered, and rigorously trained, inheriting the coveted bloodlines, advanced jutsu, and innate abilities of both prestigious families.
Then, there was Naruto.
He was entirely ordinary. The only things he shared with his prodigy siblings were a roof over his head, a last name he didn't care for, and the faint whisker marks on his cheeks.
Minato and Kushina rarely looked his way, let alone offered him attention or combat training. To them, and to the tutors who frequented the compound, Naruto was a disappointing shadow, an embarrassing failure.
He had flunked the academy graduation exam three times in a row. The village gossiped about his lack of talent, but the bitter truth was much different from that, Naruto had failed on purpose. He intentionally botched the tests because he wasn't even sure he wanted to be a shinobi.
His only real breakthrough had happened a year prior. he had managed to get his hands on a restricted scroll, secretly teaching himself the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu. He didn't learn it for glory or to impress his parents. He learned it because Naruto was planning on leaving and needed something useful to protect himself with when he heads out to the outside of the walls of konoha.
Looking back at his life, the emotional distance from his parents was starkly reflected in material things. All he ever received from his parents was a cold, transactional ten-dollar allowance every week. On his birthdays, while his siblings were showered with rare ninja tools, custom weapons, and grand feasts, Naruto received a couple of wrapped boxes containing nothing more than generic clothes. Nothing special. Never anything personal.
Shaking off the bitter memories, Naruto stepped into the bathroom and flicked on the dim vanity light. Staring into the mirror, he looked at his hair. It had always been a massive, wild, spiky golden sunflower hair, nearly a carbon copy of his father.
It was time for a new look as Naruto picked up a pair of hair clippers he had bought in secret. Turning them on, the low hum filled the small bathroom. He ran the blades through the blonde Spike thick strands of hair, fall into the sink. He didn't shave his head completely bald, but he cropped it close, leaving a neat and short hairstyle.
Looking at the mirror, now all that Naruto could see was a brand new person, someone who is ready to start a new chapter and a new beginning for his life.
He washed the stray hairs down the drain, took a deep breath, and walked back to his room. Picking up a pen and begin to write on the piece of paper, leaving a final message for anyone who might eventually bother to check his room.
"To my family, I don't feel like I belong here, nor do I have a reason to stay. I need to get out into the world and find my own path."
He placed the note on the bed, looking at his bag and putting it over his shoulders, his heavy backpack.
Taking one more deep breath, making sure he could carry his backpack on his back, knowing this was it, finally what's going to walk out through those doors, leaving the Namikaze estate behind and begin a new life.
"This is it, no turning back now," Naruto said to himself as he headed outside and ready to start his journey wherever he goes.
To be continued...
Now usually in FanFictions, I don't really like the idea of Naruto not being the jinchuriki, because I really do love all the ideas and relationships ideas you can do with him and kurama.
However there are ideas that can be done when Naruto is not the jinchuriki.
Since he is not in this fanfiction, he doesn't have to struggle with chakra as much as he did back in the beginning of the series.
Since some of it was suppressing the nine tails back then and this could even help him with his chakra control.
Which are things I plan to do in the future explaining.
