chapter 5

Chapter 5

A single week had never felt so much like an eternity for Minato namikaze.

When the package containing Naruto's autobiography finally arrived at the Hokage estate, Minato's hands ripped the box open with lighting speed.

He headed to his private study, locked the door behind him, and sat down on his chair, beneath the dim light of his desk lamp.

Minato knew this book could have all is unsolved answers he had spent seventeen years trying to figure out and now it was time to see if it did have all the answers he was hoping for.

Cracked open the crisp cover, turning to the very first page. His eyes walk on to the first sentence and begin to read to himself.

"Despite how successful I am today, and how many believe in me as someone great who has so much to give to this world, the place where I came from was a world where nobody believed in me at all. For the first thirteen years of my life, I was treated like an unwanted foster child."

Minato gasped sharply, slamming his palm flat against the desk. "An unwanted foster child?!" he muttered aloud, his voice defensive.

"Is he... is he actually lying? He wasn't a foster child!" Minato forced himself to keep reading. The next paragraph immediately clarified the bitter analogy.

"...Even though I wasn't technically a foster child, that is exactly how it felt to live in that house. My parents were always too consumed by the blinding light of my younger siblings to ever notice me standing there. They reduced my existence to a transactional ten-dollar bill left on a counter every week, and whenever they did look at me, it was only to compare my baseline ordinary nature to their grand expectations for the others. My birthright as the oldest was stripped away before I could even understand it. I was never given a single chance to prove myself. My parents, and the elite tutors who constantly frequented our compound, made sure I knew exactly where I stood, at the very bottom."

Minato slumped back into his chair, He stared at the pages, unable to deny a single word. It was all true, They had automated his care, substituted parenting with a meager allowance, and let the tutors dictate his worth.

He turned the page, eager to understand the mystery of Naruto's academy days, "For those who remember me from that time, they likely remember a boy who was weak, pathetic, and fundamentally broken. But honestly? Not really. I made everyone believe I was a failure because I purposely botched every single exam. I didn't do it to cry out for attention. I did it because I looked at the vicious, bloody cycle of the shinobi life, and the terrifying pressure my parents were forcing onto my siblings, and I genuinely questioned if I wanted to become that kind of person. I didn't want to be a weapon. So, I chose to fail. I let them think I was weak so they would stop looking at me entirely."

Minato's eyebrows shot up in pure astonishment. "He was failing on purpose..." he whispered, a sudden wave of awe washing over him.

The boy wasn't untalented, he possessed a level of psychological fortitude and strategic patience that most seasoned Chunin lacked.

He had played the long game against his own family. "When I turned thirteen, I made the decision to leave everything behind. I knew with absolute certainty that I did not belong in that village, but I also knew that somewhere out there, a place was waiting for me. I just had to be brave enough to step into out there and find it. For the next three years, I lived on the streets. I was functionally homeless, traveling from streets to streets, sleeping under bridges and helping ordinary civilians whenever I could. I actively avoided the government systems until I turned sixteen, officially filed for legal adult emancipation, and sorted out my paperwork to start my career on the pitch."

"I may not have been like my siblings, but I had a different kind of ways. Long before I ever left that house, I spent my lonely nights training in secret. I didn't have real equipment, so I stuffed old socks with garbage to make makeshift soccer balls. Eventually, I saved up enough to buy a cheap, hollow plastic ball. I kicked it against the alley walls for thousands of hours until my feet bled."

Minato felt a lump in his throat. He could perfectly visualize his young son, completely ignored in the grand Namikaze estate, sitting in a dark corner stuffing garbage into socks just to practice a civilian sport.

"So he was already building his foundation right under our noses," Minato murmured, a deep sense of respect blooming alongside his guilt.

"That explains why he chose the path of an athlete. He had already mastered it in isolation." As Minato read further into the middle chapters, the narrative shifted from a story of survival to a blueprint of absolute triumph.

Naruto detailed his early struggles with hunger, cold, and loneliness, followed by his explosive rise to global stardom.

The book also answered Minato's burning question about his son's minimalist, all-black lifestyle. Naruto wrote that he had no desire to show off massive wealth or hoard material things because he had learned firsthand that a person's worth wasn't defined by the size of their estate or the grandeur of their titles. He lived simply because his focus was entirely on self-mastery, discipline, and giving back to those who were cast aside by society just like he had been.

Minato slowly closed the book, the heavy silence of the study settling around him. He leaned forward, resting his forehead against his folded hands.

He had set out to build a legacy through a massive grand museum that celebrated power, bloodlines, and military dominance. But his eldest son had built a far greater legacy across the ocean using nothing but garbage-stuffed socks, an iron will, and a compassionate heart.

Minato stood up from his desk, his expression hardening with a newfound, absolute resolve."I have got to make some massive changes to the plans for that museum," Minato said to the empty room. Naruto belonged in that museum not as a footnote, but as the greatest triumph the Namikaze name had ever produced.
