(Chapter Twenty-Three.)
Hermes dragged me by the sleeves of my sweater and I groaned, "I don't want to go in! You're mother hates me, Hermes."
"Your father hates me." he pointed out and my bottom lip pouted.
"He doesn't hate you...per say." I said and groaned when I walked up his porch steps. He came close to the door before I wrapped my arms around his waist and pressed up against his back, "Save me if she starts to make my hair fall out."
He snorted, "Really? My mom is a cool women, Carmina said her views on you could always changes with our decisions. We just gotta find out what that decision is and I have an idea."
"Why can't we go somewhere first and come back later? Yeah, good idea.", I said when I quickly snatched my arms out of his and turned to leave, but he grabbed my arm again and turned me around.
"Don't be such a wuss." he said. "I thought wolves were brave, not chickens."
"Hey!" I said, narrowing my eyes on him. "Remember, my magic stronger then yours.",
"But who can use their magic more, huh?", he asked and I gave him a low growl sound as he opened the door and drag me inside. I tried hiding myself behind Hermes as I heard his mother heels click as she walked out of the kitchen.
"Oh, Hermes you actually came home right after school for once. . .", she trailed off when Hermes stepped right once and showed me.
I awkwardly smiled and brought my hand up. I had to quickly pull the sleeve of my sweater down since it was covering my hand and waved once, "Hey Mrs Robinson, you look great."
She ignored me as she put her right manicured hand on her waist, "Hermes, what is she doing here?" she asked.
"Just so things wont be awkward later-mom, Jaycee and I are togeth-" he got cut off when she brought her hands up to her ears and covered them.
"La, la, la! I don't want to hear this!" she said loudly as she sang to herself.
"That's my cue to go!", I quickly said as I turned around to run out the house before she set it on fire or worse, she sets me on fire. I don't think she could do that though, but still!
"Huh? No, hold up!", Hermes said as he grabbed my arm again for the thousandth time. "No running away just yet."
"Get the dog out my house.", his mom then said and I gave her a 'oh-no-you-didn't' kind of look as my eyes widen at her.
I scuffed, "I have a name, you know."
"I know what you're kind is.", she hissed back. "Get out my house, I don't need it smelling like you."
"Mom, stop it.", Hermes said. "You're being rude-"
"You promised me nothing would ever happen between you to.", she said, giving him a glare.
"Things changed over the weekend though.", he said. He pulled me in front of him with his hands on my shoulders but me and his mom just continued to glare at each other. I was trying to be nice, but she called me a dog when I have a name and she's being disrespectful first! I have an anger problem and it's not wise to piss of a wolf.
"You're a liar, Hermes.", she said. "This she wolf is trying to confuse you."
"Why would I do that?", I asked. "Hermes is my mate, I wouldn't even be attra-", suddenly the words stopped coming out my mom when she whispered a smell and my closed shut. My eyes widen and I brought my hands up to my mouth and I panicked as I looked at Hermes.
"Mom, stop it.", Hermes said, his voice getting hard. "You can't hold that spell forever anyways, let her go."
"Say you're not her stupid little mate. You're my son and you'll be with a nice witch, not some abomination.", she said and I took a step towards her, but Hermes grabbed my arm, pulling me back.
"I am her 'stupid little mate' and I know it's surprising, but if you let me talk you'll be more understanding.", Hermes said.
Getting annoyed with how my voice was being cut off, I closed my eyes and tried the spell Carmina said to me when I changed back from a wolf to a human. It took three times and effort as they bickered, forgetting me obviously.
When I could open my mouth, I knew I could talk again and I cleared my throat loudly between the arguing son and mother, "Excuse me!", I said and his mother eyes widen as if I grown extra head or something.
"H-how'd you do that?", she asked, her voice surprised as much as she looked. "You couldn't have been able to do that! It's impossible."
"Well lookie here!", I couldn't help but say. "It turns out my family has powers, I'm a seventh generation! So actually, I am a witch but I just rather call myself a wolf instead so now you'll have to accept me into the family!", I said and Hermes brought his hand up to his forehead, slapping it as he groaned, mumbling my name and saying how 'dumb' I am but I ignored him.
His mother just stood there for a few moments looking really confused before she finally said, "What?", she asked, looking at Hermes. "Not only is she's a wolf, Hermes, but she's obviously crazy and you want me to be with her?"
"I know she's crazy mom.", he said and my mouth dropped as I looked up at him. "But that's what make her adorable.", he said as he wrapped his around me, pulling my back against his chest. "I went to see Carmina last weekend, something sort of came up with Jaycee and Carmina told us. It's a very secretive thing, but Jaycee's family does have magic. They were made from magic, so they have magic in them and they're stronger then me and you. Stronger than Lucinda.",
His mom stared at me for a moment, her facial expression never changing from it's cold hard look.
"Carmina never lies, she has that kind of wisdom. Jaycee has done things a first generation would never be possible to do mom. She can do things I wouldn't be able to do.", he said. "She's can't use them like us or she'll either break her wolf side or kill herself."
"Oh, so there is a positive side to this.", she said and my mouth dropped.
"Mom!", Hermes said, his voice hard and serious.
"I'm kidding!", she said back. Her arms dropped down to her sides and she turned to face the kitchen, "We'll talk more about this later with your father, it's obvious she's not even suppose to know so we should all figure out to keep this a secret."
"Her dad and mom knows.", he said and her mouth dropped for a moment before she closed it and left the room. "That went more better then I expect.", he said and I couldn't help but scuff.
*
"Why do you think they weren't in school today?", Jaycee asked as she tossed her bag on my bed and sat down.
"Lucinda barley went to school at the end of last year because she was so 'busy' doing magic practicing. She always said magic will get her through life, not school education.", I said. "And she must have been to pissed because you blocked her, which I can still feel the wall in my mind which is kind of impressive.", I shrugged as I didn't really care but I wasn't going to admit to Jaycee that I was jealous she was able to do that and I couldn't.
Sage then walked into my room and he hissed at Jaycee. Jaycee narrowed her eyes on him and bared her teeth, growling at Sage. Sage raised it paw and clawed the air like he was telling her he didn't want her in here with me.
"Stupid cat.", Jaycee said and Sage hissed at her again before turning around and left. "Why are you witches so amazed by cat? They're-ugh!"
"Because if you put a dog down anymore, he'll just go any place he wants. A cat would look around his surrounding and choose the right place to go. Cats are smarter then dogs.", I said and she scuffed, giving me the same look she was giving Sage. I chuckled, "Cats are just beautiful creatures and were said to be a 'Familiars' which is a friend of the witch . We're are very closely related and have many similarities."
"You said I was dumb.", Jaycee said as she sprung up from my bed and I groaned, rolling my eyes since that was the only thing she caught. "I'm a wolf, we're very intelligent and powerful."
"Powerful, not very smart.", I said. "A cat could probably make it's way around the woods faster then you would because you just dash, they'll look around and figure out a plan to get threw on shortcuts. Don't worry, you're still pretty.", I said as I reached up and pinched her cheek, which she slapped my hand away. "You did sass my mom without thinking, didn't you?"
Her mouth dropped, "What? She was being rude."
"And it was your job to impress her, not be rude back. A cat would have said something to make her shut up and start liking him.", he said. "You temper, temper wolf. Tsk, tsk, you should learn how to control that.", I said as I started to chuckle and she hit my arm. When I didn't shut up, but continue loud she started hitting me some more.
I wrapped my arms around her arms so she would stop and she groaned, "You're a jerk, you know? Why don't you go back to being my sweet shy Hermes?"
"Because I'm more awesome like this.", I said before kissing her. Her arms snaked around my waist as she kissed me back and pressed her mouth against mine hard.
I felt a small spark between our lips-not a romantic one. An actual spark or zap. It was like when you rub socks against a carpet and you touch someone, zapping them. Like that.
"Ow! Hermes!", Jaycee said when she pulled back and touched her mouth.
I couldn't help but laugh, "Sorry, that never happened before. We must have real magic between us." I said, making her blush.
