Chapter Twenty-Two

Jackson's POV

During the drive, Jason explain about the secret pack. I didn't expect such a story behind this pack and if it had been told in a different situation, I would have just dismissed it as a myth but knowing I am currently on my way to such a place, I know it is realistic. Roman doesn't say much on the way, which has me worried but Jason assures me it is okay. Roman is to be leader of the pack we are going to, and having a threat to his pack has him worried. Most of the people in the pack are not warriors and can't protect themselves. They never dreamed of a day were they would be attacked because the prospect of that was impossible. However, George proved to make the impossible, possible.

"We will go by foot from here." Jason announce just as he stops the car. I don't see any cars around, making me wonder how his parents and uncle got here but I don't even ask before Jason gives an explanation. "We don't normally drive when coming here. My  parents and uncles, they probably just ran in wolf form through the forest. Come on you two." He leads us inside the forest.

We walk silently, getting deeper and deeper in the woods. Jason suddenly stops and I run into his back before taking a step back to see why he stopped.

"We are here." He announce.

I look over his shoulder and see so many creeping plants, both grass and flowers in different colors. Together they formed a huge wall and looking it up, I couldn't even see the end of it above. I also just notice that the trees around are so tall and thick with just a bit of sunlight passing through. I was walking with my head down since I was tired of getting my feet caught in protruding plant roots. The plant wall is very beautiful with the many different types of flowers with varying colors.

Jason presses his hand on the wall and the creeping bellflower circulate his hand, it's violet flowers standing out until some of it reaches his chest. It doesn't take time as the flower retreats back to the wall and Jason takes a step back. The wall parts abruptly, making me take a step back, bumping into Roman who chuckles. Jason grabs my hand and helps move my awed body through the path that the plant wall make for us. Once we are on the other side, the wall closes again. Jason explains as we walk that we are now in the secret pack location. The wall guides it to keep it away from outsiders. To anyone coming in, the creeping bellflower is magical and it scans the one seeking to pass through before letting him or her in.

"If that's the only way in, doe's that mean if George was to come in, will he be scanned by the bellflower?" I ask.

"Yes he would be, but it's unlikely he would be let in. The bellflower knows the secret pack people. It can't even let you in because you are not originally from here. Our grandmother came from here and that's how we got the right to come in." Jason explains and before I know it, I hit Roman's still body as he looks into the woods to the right of us. I don't wonder why for long, as the smell of blood hit's my nostrils and I look in that direction too.

"Stay here, I'll check it out." Jason runs to the woods and I follow behind. I'm not gonna stay and leave him to go alone. "I thought I told you to stay put, Jack?"

"Oh. I thought you were talking to Roman." I reply sarcastically and he looks at me sternly.

"Was he? I thought maybe he was talking to Danny. He can be bossy with his nephew." Roman chime in and I look on amused, as the siblings share a 'look'.

Jason sighs and walk forward after instructing us to at least walk behind him. We listen just to not anger him and follow behind until we reach a place where there is much blood. On the floor, we see trails of whoever was injured, crawling away from here. Jason follow the trail with us behind until we reach a big tree with a figure sitting on the floor, back rested to the tree trunk.

"Oh goddess! It's Martha." Roman exclaims and run to the body. I approach them with Jason who also kneels down beside the body like Roman.

"R-roman?" The woman, Martha, asks in a weak voice before coughing up some blood. She seem to have a huge opening on her right side by the stomach that has blood oozing out of her. Whoever it was took a huge chunk of body out of her.

"Don't talk. I'll heal you, don't worry." Roman cries while taking off his jacket to press on the wound and stop the blood flow. "Who did this to you?"

"Don't bother healing me, Roman. I betrayed my pack by bringing him here." She coughs up some more before continuing. "Tell mum and dad that I had no choice. He had my family and I thought taking him here would save them but he ended up killing them anyway, and now me he left to bleed out. I can't live when my whole family is dead. I can't face the disappointed looks on our pack and my parents."

"No, no, Martha." Roman sobs while gripping the woman's hand tightly.

"You have to go to the pack and help the injured who wants to live more than me."

"Where is George?" My mate speaks up for the first time.

"He's left. Your dad and uncle went after him."

Jason stands up and gives me a look that understand. Martha gets into a coughing fit and when it dies out and Roman cries get louder, I know she's passed. Suddenly, Roman falls down and I jump up to him. His eyes shining blue, his body still with just a minimal sign that he's still breathing.

"What happened to him?" I look at Jason while clutching his brother in my arms. He sighs and run a hand through his hair.

"He's okay, he does this sometimes. Take him to the pack house. Its right ahead, follow the path we were on. Mama will know what to do and tell them about Martha's body here. He's my uncles, Chris and Layton's daughter. I'll follow my dad and the others. The stone needs to be retrieved before he leaves the pack land. It leaving the secret pack is bad enough but if it leaves the kahuna pack land........." Jason shakes his head, not finishing his sentence.

"Be safe, please." I say worriedly.

"I'll be." He kisses my forehead before running off and the further he goes, the less I see him with the woods shielding him from my sight.

I carry on, doing as told, carrying Roman to the pack house. I guess George could get in after all if someone opened the way for him. If they are after him that means he succeeded in stealing the stone. I reach the pack house and immediately, Jason's mother comes out running my way. He ask where Jason is and I tell him before he orders me to follow him. He leads me inside to a bedroom and I lay him on the bed. He quickly checks him up and only takes off his shirt and jeans before covering him with a blanket. With a sigh, he sits on the bed while holding Roman's hand.

I clear my throat and he looks at me. "Aren't there any medicine to give him?"

"No, my dear. He's okay, just overwhelmed." Jason's mother replies to my question and he tells me to take a seat. I do so and look at the two on the bed. I wonder how I'd feel if my child got sick. He might say Roman's okay but I can see he's worried about his son.

"What will happen if the stone gets out of the kahuna pack land?" I ask, my thoughts getting better of me.

"I'm afraid things will go back to how they were." Jason's mother, mumbles.

"And how was it back then?"

From what I hear, I remain silent the whole day. Praying silently that they retrieve the stone to avoid everything I heard from happening.

**
Roman's POV

I watch with wide eyes as my dad, grandfather, uncles; Michael, Justice and Layton, fights off some wolves in wolf form with an exception from Justice who isn't a werewolf. He uses his magic to fight. There are just too many of the enemy wolves and I watch with dread as George makes a run for it. He's going away and if he won't be stopped, he might just leave the pack lands. I can't help even even if I want to because I'm not here but I'm here. Does that make sense? I don't understand though, why I'm I here? I don't want to watch this.

"You have to watch it, sweetheart." A voice whispers.

"No!" I shout when my grandfather's wolf gets tackled down by two enemy wolves. The others can't even help him because one slip up then they'd be chewed out. I sigh in relief when my brother's wolf jumps in the fight and helps grandfather.

Grandfather's wolf stands back up and face off EJ . I think they exchange some words before EJ runs off, dodging some wolves that wants to attack him. He takes the same way that George went earlier and I find myself following behind. The fight still goes on behind us but I don't care for that at the moment. George has to be stopped. EJ's wolf growls when he sees George who's near the border

"I hate seeing this as much as you do. But you brought this on your own. Poorly made decisions are what has led to all this." The previous voice whispers once again.

My eyes stay locked on the two wolves battling out on the field. EJ has a lot to fight for and I've no doubt he will win. Despite fighting for the pack, he's also fighting for his mate that suffered greatly because of George's actions. EJ almost defeats the enemy but just as he goes for the kill, two wolves jumps on him, tackling him off George. He starts fighting them off, which I believe with no doubt that he can take them but then four more jump on him as well, successfully bringing him down. I cry out, wishing I could help my big brother but I can't do that, only watch. Luckily, George, back in human form, orders his wolves off and I see my brother is still alive but I know he's got spot some big injuries.

"Oh goddess!" I exclaim as I watch George walking off with the stone. I wish for a miracle or something but I know my wishes fall on deaf ears........or not.

I gasp in shock, staring intently. The moment George and his wolves pass through the border, they start crying out. I notice the stone, visible in George's hand as it shines brightly. I'm not sure what happens but as the light dies down, so does bones fall to the ground. The body of George that was standing in victory just a minute ago, only bones are remaining. I watch EJ stagger to the pile of bones and retrieve the stone. He walks back in the pack lands and in that moment, dad and my uncles join him in the field. I sigh in relief, the stone is back in the land.

"Yes it is back but it's just a mere stone now."

"What do you mean?" I ask and look around, trying to find the owner of the voice but sees none.

"Come. I'll show you."

I don't know why I start moving since I'm not sure where the voice wants me to go because I can't see the person. I pass through so many trees and at a point, I realize where we are going. But just before I reach the tree of life, I see wilting plants and trees. Fallen dry leaves lie on the ground and I wonder what's happening. There shouldn't be dying leaves anywhere.

"The day I gave the stone to Mikkel, I also gave him the tree to plant. The truth is, the stone is what held the power to everything I said, even the tree. Today the stone fought your fight and for that, it took all of it's power and now it's powerless. It all starts with the tree of life dying and everything follows."

"What will follow?" I ask with dread.

"The curse. Forbidding all male omegas the gift to give birth because that came with the stone and that has gone with the stone loosing it's power."

"No, no, no. That can't happen!"

"I'm sorry but it has happened already. Men are greedy beings for power. It should have just been a pack and not a kingdom. Those who came as friends became your enemies today. I couldn't even do anything about it because I could have gotten in trouble with fate and you don't mess with fate because that could have destroyed more things than this. The ability of male omegas to give birth was not only to the people of this land but to all my were creations. This affect all of those weres."

"How can I help? Is there something I can do?"

I know it isn't by coincidence that I'm here and that I saw all that. I'm here for a reason and my thoughts are just as right when the goddess, something I figured it out on my own, tells me of what I have to do. I agree to it right away without holding a breath because this is right. As a mother myself, I know how great it is to have children and how good it feels. My fellow omegas should not suffer because of this. The tree of life shouldn't die too. Without it, we have no food for our people and there is nowhere else to go. This is my home land and I've got to protect it.
