"Get your hands off her Bryan!" -Regan 

CARINA'S P.O.V.

While we were eating, I was so distracted with Rosie trying her hardest to get Regan's attention. She was sitting on Regan's right side while Scarlet was on his left side while Mia, Bryan and me were across them. I asked him to put Scarlet next to me a while ago but he was so stubborn and insisted that he would like to have her next to him.

"Regan, you need to eat more. I think you're getting thinner. I should come often to cook for you" Rosie said with a seductive voice and put some of the side dish on his plate which made me want to throw up right there and then. I hate to admit it but I couldn't help but to feel jealous of how close they were being. 

To my surprise, Regan just thanked her and continued eating. I was silent while Rosie kept on talking. I nearly gasped for air when she wiped Regan's mouth with a table napkin as she leaned over him, deliberately showing her big boobs which were almost on full display because of her sexy V-neck dress but then I scowled at her when I caught her grinning at me triumphantly. I looked at my daughter and she was busy eating her food, oblivious of what's happening around her.

"So when's the wedding?" Mia asked me. I could tell that Mia was a nice lady, opposite of Rosie.

"W-what wedding?" I asked stammering a little bit. She smiled genuinely and looked at Regan.

"Hey Regan, when?" She asked with a teasing tone. Regan's face became passive. Just looking at his cold face made me want to cry as my chest became heavier.

"What about you Mia? When are you going to introduce your boyfriend to us?" Regan asked her, evading her question. I wanted to cry but I tried my best not to show them how hurt I was. It was clear that Regan was still angry and his cold behavior was slowly killing me from the inside. I swallowed, feeling my chest tightened more.

"Hey! Don't answer my question with a question" Mia said amusedly. Rosie rolled her eyes and glared at Mia.

"Stop that Mia. It is so obvious that there won't be any wedding any time soon. Well, there will be if Regan would just ask me" She said confidently and expectantly. I knew it, she likes Regan. The way she talks and looks at him shows it all. Mia and Bryan laughed out loud of what Rosie said which made her glared at them with irritation.

"Stop it you two. There's nothing funny of what I've said!" She said with annoyance. Mia shook her head while trying to stifle her laughter.

"C'mon Rosie. Stop it. We know Regan just considers you like his sister" She said and winked at me, like she was assuring me that there was nothing between the two. I just smiled at her meekly and continued eating my food. I could not even taste what I was eating because of these emotions I was feeling and negative thoughts that kept on appearing on my mind. Did he get tired of pursuing me? Did he already give up on me?

After the breakfast, they decided to go to the entertainment room and play billiard. I initially declined their invitation because Regan was ignoring me but Mia and Bryan insisted me to join them much as Rosie's disappointment.

I was just watching and sitting on the stool near the mini bar while Bryan and Regan were playing billiard. While Mia and Rosie were sitting across me on the love seat.

"So are you really coming to Sandra's party? You know what kind of parties that girl throws. Super wild" Bryan suddenly said to Regan. He didn't answer as he was aiming his cue stick to hit the mother ball.

"I told you I'm coming. What's up with you all of a sudden Mister Bryan Carter? You're acting different. You know I'm used to this kind of parties" He said while smirking. I was a little bit taken aback because I've never heard him attending wild parties. Maybe when I left him...

Then all of a sudden it sunk into me. Bryan Carter! He was the one I was looking for. I stood up from the stool. Bryan was about to answer him when I caught his attention because I was staring at him.

"What's wrong Carina?" He asked me and everybody in the room diverted their attention to me.

"Can I talk to you for a second, I mean just the two of us?" I asked him and I saw Regan's face contorted with anger. I ignored him because my interest right now was to talk to Bryan.

"Okay. Why not" He said while chuckling at Regan. I didn't understand the meaning of their exchange of meaningful glances but I knew Regan wasn't happy. I led the way and we went outside the entertainment room then turned right towards the veranda.

REGAN'S P.O.V.

When Carina and Bryan didn't return after about 10 Minutes, I began to feel anxious and mad at the same time. I shoved the cue stick to the Billiard table and was about to go out and follow them when I heard Rosie spoke.

"What's with that girl? She just openly invited someone to have a private talk in front of you. What a b*tch" She said mockingly. I turned around and glared at her.

"Don't ever say that to Carina Rosie" I told her with a cold but held warning tone. Instead of stopping, she stood up from her seat and sauntered towards me and before I could evade her touch, she snaked her arms around my neck.

"What do you even see in that girl? I am better than her, I can assure you that" She said as she batted her eye lashes. I cringed. Just hearing about it made me want to puke. She is like a sister to me and hearing her say that made me feel cold chills throughout my body. I unwrapped her arms from my neck.

"Rosie. Don't ever throw yourself like that to me again. What would your parents think if they see us like that? I respect your parents and I don't want to strain our families' relationship. You knew about my plan and I'm thankful because you are helping me but that's all about it" I said with all honesty. Rosie is my childhood friend and I knew that she has feelings for me but I already told her that I am in love with someone else, Carina. At first, I didn't like the idea of asking her help for my plan which was to make Carina jealous but I didn't have anyone in mind.

She tends to get carried away and that is the last thing I want to happen. I don't want to worsen our situation. I saw pain in her eyes before it disappeared as soon as it appeared.

"Just stop Rosie. You're making yourself look so cheap right now" Mia interrupted. Rosie glared at her but she just shrugged her shoulders and smirked.

"Shut up Mia. I'm not talking to you" She snapped at Mia.

"Whatever" Mia retorted and took out her phone and proceeded on checking her social media, ignoring Rosie's anger. Rosie shifted back her attention to me.

"I don't understand. We already knew each other since we were children but you never paid any attention to me. You just met that girl like 4 years ago and you fell head over heels in love with her compared to me who was with you since the beginning?! She even left you but you kept on searching for her! What does she have that I don't?!" She asked desperately. I massaged the bridge of my nose. She was beginning to stress me out. I avoided her as much as I could for years because she was so smitten with me. I thought she already moved on with her feelings for me but I guess not.

"Rosie. You are beautiful and if you just turn your head and search for the one for you, you will find him" I suggested and turned my back from her then continued walking to the door. Before I could totally closed the door, I heard her spoke again, this time her voice was like a venom and full of animosity.

"I won't accept it Regan. I lost you once with that woman who betrayed you but this time, i won't let it happen again. I will show to youthat she is not the one for you" I shook my head with disbelief and continuedon my tracks. When I was in the hallway, I heard Carina and Bryan's voice fromthe Veranda and I quickly took long strides to get there just to be outraged ofthe sight of Bryan holding Carina's hand. There was never an instant where Iwanted to kill my bestfriend but now. The monster inside of me surfaced as Iapproached them. 

CARINA'S P.O.V.

"So, what do you want to discuss with me?" He asked and stared at me playfully. I don't know if is it just me or he is acting like he is so amused with the situation. I rolled my eyes skyward and tried my best to sound calm but serious.

"Do you happen to know a certain man named Jack Peterson?" I asked him and his face became serious.

"He does sound familiar. Why?" He asked while staring at me intently. He looked interested now and willing to listen seriously.

"He was my stepfather. He put our house as a collateral because he burrowed a large sum of money. I think you were the one who acquired the house" I said. I knew that he already sold the house but I wanted to extract some information from him.

"Hmmm. Yah. I remember him now. Actually, he lost in a game of poker with me in my casino years ago. He was so cocky and dared me to play with him. He was even bragging that he was rich to the women there that time that I even felt sorry for his wife" He said while shaking his head and put his hands in the pockets of his pants. I gritted my teeth, anger slowly rising in me. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself.

"Did you ever meet my mom?" I asked him, trying to make him spill all the information I need.

"No. I just happened to hear that he was married. Anyway, when I beat him in the game he was so quick on telling me that he would pay me the money but it turned out that he didn't have any. When my friends threatened him, he told me that he would give me his house as a payment and so I agreed" My hands formed in a tight fist. I was so furious and my hatred to Jack began to resurface again and it even intensified. How dare him! That son of a b*tch!

I was never the kind of person who curse but because of anger, I wanted to shout a series of bad words right.

"I accepted his payment because I was so interested in its location. I was planning to build a casino there but then I changed my mind because of a good friend of mine. I sold it to him" I frowned at him and gulped inaudibly.

"Can you tell me who bought it? I want to buy it back" I told him, honestly stating my intention. This was one of the reasons why I decided to come back here, to find the current owner and buy our house back. Mr. May, the investigator I was paying to find everything about this guy never had a solid finding who the current owner is. This guy is so discreet and maybe rich because he could manage to hide his identity. I saw Bryan smiled meaningfully before he shrugged his shoulders.

"Sorry Carina but I promised him not to tell anyone who he is" He answered. Figures! All the hope I felt suddenly crumbled down. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a second. I felt his hand touched my hand while looking at me reassuringly.

"Don't worry. Everything will be alright. You will get your house back" He said meaningfully and smiled. He really is nice and I felt so comfortable around him. I was about to answer him when I felt a powerful grip on my wrist. I raised my eyes just to meet Regan's smoldering eyes. I felt a sudden chill on my spine because of the intense anger I saw into his eyes. He looked like he was about to kill somebody.

"Get your hands off her Bryan!" He said with a dangerous tone before he pulled me to him. Instead of being intimidated, Bryan's face lit with amusement as he lifted his hand away from me.

"What's the problem bro?" He asked feigning innocence. He looked serious but I could see that he was enjoying his friend's anger.

"Shut up" He answered rudely and I almost rolled my eyes because of his behavior. I pushed him away from me with a little bit of a force which made him scowled at me. I didn't budge and stared back at him with equal anger. How dare he act like that when he was even flirting with that Rosie girl right in front of me?!

I wanted to apologize to him earlier because of what happened last night but I changed my mind. His eyes softened when he noticed that I was really vexed. I brushed passed him and thank God he didn't follow me. I didn't return to the entertainment room, instead I went to upstairs to Scarlet's room and I saw her playing in her big doll house with Fiona.
