Chapter Two

"No, no he wouldn't. He and I had plans to go to the movies tomorrow," Nino insisted.

"I am so sorry," Alya was hugging him with tears streaming down her emotionless face.

________

"Hey, Nino. What's wrong? Where's Adrien?" Marinette stopped in front of them. Alya looked at her best friend through her glasses.

"Mari, he." She shook her head and squeezed her eyes shut as she pushed the words out that would undoubtedly hurt Marinette on a horrible way. "He jumped off the bridge last night."

Alya had said something, but Marinette couldn't hear. She couldn't feel. she couldn't breathe. "No," she whispered. A hole was opening in her heart. Adrien couldn't. He wouldn't. Marinette ran out of the building with tears among with the dust that rose with her every footstep.

"No," she repeated.

"Marinette, slow down!"

"Shut the hell up, Tikki!"

"Something isn't right, you have to stop!" The pair ended up in the teen's pink room. Marinette threw her purse across the room out of anger.

"SHUT UP!" Her voice hurt from screaming, but she didn't care. She ignored the grunt from her kwami and broke down into tears.

"Marinette,-"

"GO AWAY! I'M DONE!" Marinette threw her earrings off her ears and Tikki disappeared as the girl was left to sit in a ball to cry.

"Why?" She gripped her knees. " WHY??" She had her eyes shut, but that did nothing to stop the constant flow of the tears.

_______________

"M-Marinette?" A small raspy voice came from her bed. The young adult looked to see a small, black creature with bright green eyes that seemed glassy. In the creature's paws was a ring; Chat Noir's ring.

Marinette stood up, not even thinking to wipe the tears from her face. "Wh-where did you get that?" A black tear went down Plagg's cheek as he fought the urge to break down completely. "Where is Chat Noir?" A new wave of tears formed in her eyes.

"Adrien is Chat," he couldn't finish. Plagg was trying to be strong, trying not to be a bother.

"No," it came out as less than a whisper. Everything made sense, and Marinette felt the guilt weigh on her shoulders. She looked at the black kwami with tearful eyes. "I, I'm so sorry, Plagg!" He shook his head - he had to be strong.

Adrien was not the first of his owners to die, nor would it be his last. But none of them were Adrien. Plagg flew threw the door to avoid being seen crying in front of someone.

Leaving Marinette alone.

Her legs buckled underneath her, and she just stayed their as she replayed the last conversation she had had with her partner. Her crush. Her friend.
