My Lullaby
It was a quiet night in New York City. Even the villains were all home trying to get some rest. In the sewers of New York, the turtles and Splinter were getting some much needed sleep. Everyone, except for Leonardo, the leader and king of blades from the crew. Leo had been trying to perfect a new move for over a week now. He hadn't slept for five days straight because he wanted to master the move and test it out when in combat.
So I decided to spend the night and watch him train, I was bummed out because Master Splinter wasn't awake. I yawned, so I got up and made my way out of the dojo room. I was going to walk out of the room and I noticed that Leonardo is still trying to master that move, I think Sensei might be teaching him that. So I stopped and looked at my best friend. I found Leo in front of the big and old bonsai tree. He looked very tired with his droopy eyelids. I walked up to him and placed my hand on his shoulder. He looked up at me tiredly.
"Leo, you should really get some sleep." I suggested.
"I can't sleep. I've got to master this move. It might help us defeat the Kraang and the Purple Dragons. And possibly the Shredder." Leo said tiredly. His voice was hoarse from not getting sleep.
"Why are you doing this to yourself? It's not healthy to stay awake for five whole days straight. I know you want to master this move, but your body needs plenty of rest." I scolded.
Leo sighed and pushed my hand off his shoulder, even though he liked my cool touch on his shoulder. Then he went back to training.
I was thinking for a second and I got an idea. I grabbed Leo's hand and took him to his bedroom.
"What're you doing?" Leo asked me in a confused way.
"You'll see." I said as I laid Leo down on his Space Heroes themed bed. Leo looked at me half-tired and half-confused.
I started humming a lullaby that I know from my favorite video game 'The Legend of Zelda'. This song helps me get to sleep whenever I'm having trouble sleeping or when I have a nightmare.
My humming voice was like a chorus of a thousand angels to Leo. As I hummed, Leo drifted off to sleep with images of me and him together in his dreams. We were both completely unaware that our other friends Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael had woken up. I think they were watching me and Leo to see what we were doing.
When I finished humming the song, I noticed that Leo was fully asleep. I took off his blue mask and stared at his mask less face. It was a beautiful, innocent face.
'Wow. I've never seen him without his mask before...' I thought to myself. I touched his warm face with my soft fingers and ran them over his face. When I stopped touching his face, he grabbed my hand. It scared the life out of me.
"Brianna...?"
"Yes Leo?"
"I just wanted to say thank you for putting me to sleep. I enjoyed your humming. It sounded beautiful."
Then I blushed a soft pink. "Aw... It was nothing Leo. I just cared about you, that's all. No biggie."
He chucked. "Oh. And I'm sorry for being a pushover back there."
"It's ok Leo. I know how much you really care about us."
He chuckled. "Yeah. And Brianna? Thanks again for the song."
I chuckled too. "Anytime... Leonardo."
I placed his blue mask on his nightstand next to his bed and I kissed his forehead, he smiled at me and I smiled back at him.
"Goodnight Leo."
"Goodnight Brianna."
So the blue-clad turtle went back to sleep and I tip-toed quietly to leave the room.
I closed the door quietly and started walking toward the pit, but I stopped and crossed my arms.
*sigh*
"I know you guys are up there." I said to the other turtles. The other three turtles were hiding on the ceiling above me.
"Man, her ninja senses are getting better." Raph was whispering to his brothers. They all hopped down behind me and I turned around.
"Thanks for helping Leo get to sleep, Brianna." The purple-clad genius said.
"It was the least I can do. I cared about him. He really needed his sleep." I said.
"You have the most awesome humming voice ever!" Mikey chimed in.
"Aww, thanks Mikey. I appreciate your agreement."
"So where'd you learn that song, anyway?" Raph asked me with curiously.
"It came from my favorite video game. I like to hum this song whenever I was having a nightmare or when I'm having trouble sleeping." I explained.
"Well, that was great what you did for our brother Leo." Donnie said.
"Thank you." I said sleepily.
*yawn*
"Man. I think it would be better if I get myself into bed, and so do you guys."
"Okay. Night, guys." Raph said walking to his room.
Both Donnie and Mikey said at the same time, "Goodnight, Brianna." I waved to them and the three turtles went to their rooms.
I went to the pit and started to lay down on the couch, then Mikey came into the room nervously. He had his pillow with him.
"What's wrong, Mikey?" I asked him.
"Um, you wouldn't mind if you hummed that lullaby for me? I'm having trouble sleeping. And I also wanted to be with a friend." Mikey asked me nervously.
I laughed and said "Of course Mikey, I'll hum it for you."
So we went to the orange turtles' room and I hummed the lullaby to him. He fell asleep and I quietly left his room.
I went to the pit and fell asleep on the couch. In my dreams, I was thinking about my fearless leader known as Leonardo. That was the best night ever.
The End.
