On a dark night, Mirio Togata is driving with his close friends Nejire Hado and Tamaki Amajiki on a cross country road trip. But as they drive, their car breaks down. 

Nejire: Oh no! 

Mirio pulls off to the side of the road. There's no other car nearboy. Tamaki shines a flashlight around Mirio while he checks the engine. 

Mirio: Oh crap!

Tamaki: What's wrong? 

Mirio: Looks like the engine's dead.

Tamaki: What are we going to do. The nearest gas station has to be at least a couple of miles. Try calling AAA.

Mirio pulls out his phone and tries to call, but there's no reception on his phone. After a moment to think on their next course of action, Nejire spots something in the distance. 

Nejire: Hey guys! Look!

Mirio and Tamaki turn to where Nejire was pointing to see an old mansion nearby. It looked like it had no place to be on the desolate highway. Seeing no choice, Mirio and the others head to the mansion to see if there was anyone there who could help them. Mirio knocks on the door. No one answers.

Mirio: Hello?! Our car broke down! Is anyone here?!

Nejire: Try knocking again!

Just as Mirio was ready to knock again, a mysterious figure with the head of a raven wearing dark clothes answers the door.

Mysterious Figure: Good evening. I am Fumikage Tokoyami. How may I help you at this hour?

Mirio: I'm sorry to disturb you, but our car broke down! I was wondering if you could help us out! 

Just as Mirio asked that, thunder begins to rumble through the sky. 

Tokoyami: There's a storm coming. I recommend you three stay the night. 

Mirio: Sure! Wouldn't hurt anything!

Tamaki then pulls Mirio away to voice his concern about this.

Tamaki: Are you sure this is a good idea Mirio? Something's wrong here.

Mirio: Relax old buddy! We'll be fine! And besides, that storm looks like it's gonna be a fierce one! 

Tamaki: If you say so......

Mirio and Tamaki along with Nejire then followed Tokoyami into his mansion. He led them to the guest room where they would be sleeping. 

Tokoyami: Here is the guest room. Is there anything I can do for you?

Nejire: No thank you!

Tokoyami then leaves to go about his business. Mirio and the others set up for the night, but Tamaki can't shake the feeling of uneasiness and uncertainty about their host. As they sleep, Nejire gets up and walks to the kitchen to get a drink in the dead of night. As she gets herself a cup of water, Tokoyami suddenly appears behind her. 

Nejire: Oh my! You scare me!

Tokoyami: I apologize dear lady. If I may ask, what are you doing up at this hour?

Nejire: I woke up and I was thirsty. So I decided to come in here for a drink.

Tokoyami remained silent as Nejire began to feel uneasy.

Tokoyami: The night is truly beautiful. The calm yet powerful storm compliments the darkness of the night very well wouldn't you say?

Nejire: Uh....yeah. I guess.

Nejire felt creeped out yet drawn to Tokoyami's mystique. As he stared out the window, a dark and menacing presence began to lurk. 

Tokoyami: Revelry in the Dark. 

As he said that, Tokoyami's shadow began to attack and engulf him. In total shock, Nejire dropped her glass of water, but found herself unable to scream as the shadow began to take over Tokoyami. When the Dark Shadow completely engulfed him, the Dark Shadow shined crimson red eyes with shadowy jagged claws. Nejire soon ran back to her room screaming. She slammed the door shut and locked it. Her screams woke up Mirio and Tamaki.

Mirio: Nejire! What's wrong?

Nejire: T....T.......T......Toko.......Tokoyami.......he.......he......

Tamaki: What about Tokoyami? 

Nejire: He.....he......

But as fear gripped her, the Dark Shadow began to bang on the door. Nejire began to back away in fear, knowing what was on the other side. 

Nejire: It's.....it's here!

Mirio: Everyone! Under the beds!

The three friends hid under the bed as the Dark Shadow broke through the door. Mirio and Tamaki felt fear by the sight of it. Seeing it once more, Nejire was about to scream but Tamaki covered her mouth to keep her from screaming. As Dark Shadow was about to check under the bed, a noise from somewhere in the house catches it's attention as it charges out of the room. Once it's gone, the three get out of the bed and close the door silently.

Mirio: Are you okay Nejire?

Nejire: I....I am.

Tamaki: What was that thing? Nejire, that the hell happened?

Nejire: I went to get a cup of water and I saw Tokoyami transform into that.....thing. 

Mirio: Here's the plan, we gotta get out of here! This storm should be able to cover our movements. 

Mirio sees a baseball bat in the room and arms himself with it. 

Mirio: All right everyone! Let's get out of here!

They slowly open the door and began to sneak through the mansion while Dark Shadow patrols the mansion looking for them. Fear gripped them, but Mirio led them to the exit. As they began to run, Dark Shadow grabs Nejire and begins to pull at her.

Tamaki: Nejire!

Mirio: Let go of her!

Mirio begins to hit Dark Shadow with the bat as Tamaki attempts to save Nejire. Dark Shadow then picks up Tamaki and throws him against the car. After that, Dark Shadow grabs Mirio and attempts to kill him.

Mirio: T.....T.....Tamaki! Get the......gun! In the.....glove department!

Tamaki gets up and rushes to the car to get the gun. Once he does so, Tamaki takes aim and shoots Dark Shadow multiple times until it lets go of Mirio and Nejire. The beast lets out an unearthly roar as the shadows disappear and it reverts back to Tokoyami. After running what seemed like miles, they were able to contact the authorities and would investigate the mansion hours later. When they investigate, they recieve unsettling news. 

Police Captain: We're searched the premises and found nothing. The place has been abandoned for quite sometime.  

Nejire: But what about Tokoyami?! 

Police Captain: Tokoyami? You mean Fumikage Tokoyami?

Mirio: Yes! He was living here when our car broke down! He invited us in that that's when he turned into that thing and tried to kill us!

Police Captain: I hate to tell you this but Fumikage Tokoyami has been dead for 50 years!

Hearing the revelation deeply confused the three friends. They had seen Tokoyami and saw that he was clearly alive.

Tamaki: But that's impossible! We saw him and he tried to kill us! I shot him!

Police Captain: All we've found were bullet casings that match the gun. But we've found no body! Not even any blood! I'm telling you, this place has been abandoned for years! No one's live here since Tokoyami died.

Mirio, Tamaki and Nejire were left with more questions in answers. They couldn't understand how a man who was supposedly dead for 50 years show up in a mansion supposedly long since abandoned. They couldn't understand what had happened that night, but they were just glad to have survived the Night of the Living Shadow.
