Ellas POV

The drive was quick and no one spoke. The only noise was the song playing on the radio. My mind was in a jumbled mess. I didn't know what to do. I needed to detach before I got completely hurt. But then there was his comment. Why is he telling me not to push him away? I'm only going to hurt myself. I want so much more from him and he doesn't want anything yet. But then kisses me. Like what? Ugh! I was brought out of my thoughts as I heard the passenger door close.

"Come on Stella." I got out of the car and made my way into Maes house. I noticed that Miki didn't drive off right away. But I didn't think anything of it. I put my bookbag by the coffee table in the living room and went to the kitchen. I needed something to snack on and a drink, since I missed lunch.

"So Stella, what are we doing about your birthday?" Before I could answer the door opened and closed. I thought maybe it was her parents, but it wasn't. It was Miki.

"What are you doing here?" Mae questioned him with narrowed eyes. He simply shrugged and went down the hall. I wondered why he didn't go to my house.

"I'm not sure what to do honestly. My parents are never away, to even throw a party." I shrugged as she laughed. Knowing damn well my parents are forever home.

"So then ask to sleep over the night before. It isn't like they'd be spending the day with you, when they both work late hours." That was true. My mother works at the hospital, working 12 hour shifts. And my dad works at a firm and he doesn't get home till after 6:00 pm.

"Ok, and we can just watch movies and eat snacks." We both laughed and started eating our snacks.

We headed to the living room to do some homework. I didn't see Miki again. Which made me a bit sad, but I'll get over it. I wanted to talk to him but I felt like it'll only make things harder for me. I didn't want to make things complicated. I was gathering my things up to put them in my bookbag, while Mae went to the bathroom, when he finally showed his face.

"I have to drop something off to Jay. Did you want someone to walk back with you?" I jumped not expecting him to talk to me. "Sure." He nodded and I waited for Mae to return to tell her I was heading back. He didn't say anything and went outside. Once out, I said good night and that I will see her in the morning.

I thought maybe he left since Mae was taking a while, but no. There he was waiting for me. I walked towards him and we headed to my house. My house was only a few houses down, so I wasn't sure why he wanted to walk with me. Unless he wanted to talk.

"Are you ok now?" His question startled me a bit. I was so lost in my own thoughts and the silence.

"I will be." Is all I could say. I don't want to get closer. As much as I like him, I have to set boundaries. "Miki..." I paused.

"Hmm?"

"I don't think it's smart to kiss me... Not when you don't want anything with me... yet..." I wasn't looking at him to realize he stopped. Until I didn't hear his footsteps anymore. I looked back and there he was. Just standing there with an expression I didn't understand. He clearly said he wanted to wait so why be hurt by my words? I walked towards him.

"Miki, you know why I'm saying this. I -" He interrupts me, with an expression I still wasn't understanding.

"No I don't El. I don't." He shook his head. "But then I do. But I just can't control it." We were two houses away from mine. Just standing there as I felt my emotions going wild. He grabbed my hand and lightly squeezed it.

"Knowing how you feel makes it all so hard. El it's you that I want. Not anyone else. But if you don't want me to kiss you, I won't. But please don't just ghost me. Don't push me away." He kissed my head and started walking ahead of me. I shook my head as the tear ran down my face. I wiped it before I reached the house. I went straight into my room.
