Screaming Love: Part 2 (Bakugo)
I stepped off the train and took a deep breath in. I skipped out of the train station and into my home town. Instantly people started waving at me as they noticed me.
"And we're here because?" Bakugo asked.
"You'll see Mr. Grumpy pants." I told him and I guided him down the main road until we reached a dirt path. People waving to me the whole way there.
"You're not taking me out here, to murder me are you?" He asked me.
"You worry too much." I told him and grabbed his wrist pulling him off the dirt path and into the tall golden grass. After walking for a minute the ground we were walking on headed downward and I stopped guiding Bakugo. I took another deep breath and looked out at the beautiful landscape out in front of me.
The golden grass continued down the hill, to a river that twisted and turned with every hill. Every hill growing every year to one day become a mountain range.
"I thought we were going to yell?" Bakugo asked, and I laughed without turning to him.
"We are." I told him and took a deep breath in one last time before screaming out into the hills. "Wanna give it a go?" I turned to Bakugo, and he was staring at me. He gave me a weird look, and even had a look on his face saying that he wanted to get away. "I bet I can scream louder than you." I told him, and any look of horror he had, disappeared.
"You're on." He told me and together we started screaming into the hills, with nothing but the wind to disturb us.
After a couple of minutes of screaming we both stopped and I sat down in the grass. I took my backpack off and took out a water bottle and handed it to Bakugo.
"So what are you yelling about?" I asked him and took a drink of my water.
"I yelled because of all the idiots at school." He said, and I laughed. "What about you? What does a dumb ass like you have to scream about?" I sighed.
"Did you know that this hills are singing hills?" I asked him. "If you sing or play an instrument, and you time it right you can have a duet with the hills." I then used my hands to amplify my voice as I used my quirk to whistled a tune, and when I stopped the hills whistled back. "I've never gotten the timing right though."
"You didn't answer the question." Bakugo said, and I sighed again.
"My father is trying to arrange a quirk marriage." I said. "He wants me to marry this guy that he works with when I'm old enough."
"You're serious?" He asked me and I looked at him.
"Why would I joke about that?" I asked him, but he didn't answer. I looked away from him and back out over the hills. "I thought coming out here and screaming would make me feel better before I went home for the weekend. But I was wrong."
"You're going home?" He asked me.
"My father is expecting me in a half hour." I said and nodded. "He wants me to meet my future fiance."
"How old is this guy your Dad wants you to marry? What's his quirk that he's trying to arrange you?" He asked.
"Ugh." I sighed, and closed my eyes to think. "He's thirty-five, I think. And he has a Wind quirk just like my Dad."
"And whats yours exactly?" He asked me.
"My father says I have a sirens voice." I said. "My mother had a song quirk. Lots of people in here have similar quirks. But I was the first to be mixed, everyone here is proud of what I am and want me to be a great hero. That's why everyone is always so nice to me when I visit, they think if they play nice they'll get something from me later on when I'm a hero."
"Everyone in this town is trying to use you?" Bakugo asked and I laid down in the grass laughing to myself.
"All but those who live at the cemetery." I laughed. "I don't think my mom would let any of this happen if she was alive. I never met her, but I know that at the moment my father would have even suggested a quirk marriage that she would take me away from here."
Bakugo didn't say anything, and honestly I'm glad he didn't say anything. After a while I got up and brushed myself off.
"Well thanks for coming with me." I told him. "But I have to go now. Just go back towards the town and follow the main road back to the train station. Your ticket is already round trip, and there should be a train to take you home in like ten minutes." I walked back to the dirt road and started heading away from town in the direction of my Father's house. Until a hand wrapped around my wrist.
"You're not going to home." Bakugo told me and dragged me back towards the town.
"What do you mean I'm not going home?" I asked him. "I have to."
"No you don't." He told me. "If you're going to be forced to marry this guy, he's got to wait anyway." And he dragged me by the wrist, as much as I wanted to pull away from him. Knowing how my father will react when I didn't show up. I couldn't make myself do it.
"I need to go home." I said.
"No, what you need is a better home." Bakugo said.
"And what about you?" I asked him. "Don't you need a better home too?"
"What do you think I'm working towards at UA?" He asked.
"To work to be the number one hero." I said. "To surpass All Might. You're constantly saying that."
"Yeah, and every day I make a better home with my friends." He said. "They're more family to me than my own damn parents. You're family is what you make of it, not what it makes of you." I flinched as he told me this. I had never heard him say anything like this before, not that he was one to get deep like this with anyone. Maybe Kirishima had hear something along the lines of this, but even then I doubted it.
But not a single part of me doubted that what he was saying was coming from the bottom of his heart.
"Then lets go home."
