Thursday 15th January 2015  (15 weeks, 1 day)

*Lexi's POV*

"Are you ready?" Jess called from across the table.

"Yeah, I need to get it sorted" I smiled back.

"No one knows a thing Lex, the boys are all out rehearsing and the girls are at work" Jess beamed "Well Barcs is just getting changed in our room and then he will leave"

"Good, I want to keep this whole adoption thing on the down low" I replied sipping on my water.

"I know you do, but I'm going to have to tell Barclay soon, because this will cause more arguments and I can't be doing with that right now" Jess muttered.

"Okay, just let's get today over with and then we can tell Barclay together" I smiled trying to compromise with her.

"Sounds perfect" Jess smiled. "Can I tell you something Lex? I can't tell the other girls, they won't understand" she said quietly before standing up and walking over to the sink.

"What is it Jess?" I asked eagerly.

Her eyes snapped to the door, Barclay was stood in the doorway, unaware of our previous conversation.

"Morning Barc" I casually said taking another sip of our water.

"Morning Lexi, you guys looking forward to shopping today?" Barclay smiled and kissed Jess' temple.

"Yeah, we are excited" Jess said convincingly. "Should we tell Lexi?"

Barclay nodded and his smile grew bigger.

"We are going to try for a baby" Barclay blurted out.

"Oh, urm, wow" I managed to reply.

"Yeah, Barclay loves that your pregnant and cannot wait to have a new baby kick" Jess announced. I knew what she was doing, I had to play along that I was keeping the baby.

"Oh that's amazing, congratulations guys" I stood up and hugged them both. My small bump being pressed into both bodies.

Barclay reached over and took a slice of toast from the toaster. He took a bite before leaving us the room.

"Are you driving or are we getting the bus?" I asked quietly.

"I'll drive, I know where it is" Jess smiled back. "Ready?"

"Ready"

She reached over and grabbed her keys.

I took a deep breath before grabbing my bag off the side.

The car journey was long and filled with silence. I occasionally glanced out the window. This was the best thing to do. The right thing.

"Lexi we are here" I was snapped out of my daydream by Jess who parked the car.

I looked up and saw the small, modern building. I heavily sighed.

We pushed open the heavy glass door and were welcomed by a chirpy redhead behind a desk.

The reception was white and modern, with black furnishings.

"Hello, what's your name sweetheart?" She said sweetly, breaking her contact from the computer.

Jess patted my arm which made me snap back into reality.

"Oh, sorry, I'm Alexie Sandford" I croaked out.

"Your Carly Anderson's 11.30 appointment?" She asked, typed away.

I nodded my head in response.

"Okay Miss Sandford, I'll call her to let her know your here, please go sit down" she smiled sweetly before tapping away at the phone.

Jess walked straight over to the black, leather seats and plonked herself down before reaching over to the glass table and began flipping through a magazine.

I sat down beside her and began taking in my environment again. Everything looked so clean and perfect, untouched even.

"Miss Sandford" a lady called out from the doorway nearest to the desk.

I stood up and Jess followed suit.

I followed the lady down a tight hallway, her high heels clicked against the wooden flooring.

"Just in here, go and make yourself at home" she smiled warmly as she swung her door open. "I'm just popping to the toilet quickly, I'm sorry as my last appointment over ran" she apologised.

"That's fine, I keep going to the toilet all the time now" I shakily said trying to lighten the mood slightly.

Jess and I sat down on the big white sofa. I placed one of the red, round cushions behind my back and began to look around the room.

It was apparent on the colour scheme, red, white and black. Which was very homely and settling.

The woman reappeared in the room, she removed her navy blazer and hung it on the back of her chair. She wore a pencil skirt which stopped just above her knees. Her floral blouse complimented her mousy brown hair which was shoulder length. She had qualities which reminded me of my mum, who was still in Essex.

"Hello Alexie, my name is Carly Anderson" she smiled warmly.

"Hi" I croaked out, leaning forward to shake her hand.

"And I'm Jess, Lexi's friend" Jess smiled confidently, also shaking Carly's hand.

"Right, Alexie, do you prefer being called that or do you prefer Lexi?" She smiled as she reached into her bag and pulled out a notepad and pen.

"I prefer Lexi" I smile back.

"Okay Lexi, here's a little bit about myself and my work her at the adoption agency. I've been working in this field for nearly 10 years and I ensure that both parties involved are happy with the end result"

I nodded to indicate that I was aware and processing every word that poured from her mouth.

"Everything that is discussed in this room, will stay in this room. If anything has to be said to another person, you will be contacted immediately to inform you. The only other people who will know of your situation will be the adoptive couples that you choose to sit down with and discuss all things about the baby, is that okay Lexi?" She smiled, I forced a smile back.

I nodded again. I felt Jess place a hand ontop of mine, I gripped it tight.

"Confidentiality is key in this process Lexi, I will not judge you or your situation. I will ensure that you are happy throughout every chapter of this process. I'm here to listen and to answer your questions. I won't tell your parents or your partner about any of this" she smiled.

I admired her choice of words, they sounded perfect. She was welcoming and she cared, as well as understood. I can tell her everything so I can get it off my chest and I can know this information won't be spread around anywhere.

"So, can you tell me about why you feel adoption is the best thing for your baby?" She questioned as her hand hoovered over the notepad.

I inhaled and exhaled deeply before answering.

"It's my best friends baby" I croaked out.

"Is he in the picture?" She enquired.

"No, well, urm, I suppose" I shakily replied.

"Does he know the truth about the paternity?" Carly asked.

"No" I let out bluntly. "I mean I can't let him know, it will ruin his career"

"What does he do Alexie?"

"He's in a band, they have their tour next month and they are writing their album. James has no time for a baby"

"Has he told you this himself?" She asked quietly. I could see Jess focusing on me. I tried to clear my throat but the words wouldn't come out.

"Basically Carly, Alexie slept with James on his birthday, which was after he had moved into The X Factor house" Jess began to explain.

"I moved down from Essex to be closer to my best friend and to increase my chances of becoming a journalist because there are so many more opportunities here in London"

"I see" Carly continued jotting down notes.

"I told him it was Jason, he was a one night stand" I squeaked out.

"Is Jason a real person?" Carly asked, placing her pen on the table so she could fully concentrate on me, as my words began to get shakey.

All I could do was nod. My eyes began to fill with tears. Jess didn't even know about Jason.

"Jason's real" I whispered. "He's my neighbour back in Essex. He's older than me so he attends university, I told everyone he was the father because he goes to Bedford Uni to study sports, he wouldn't be in the picture and with him being miles away, he would never find out"

"What made you want to tell everyone about Jason?" Carly asked, leaning forwards slightly.

"I didn't want to kill my baby, I couldn't do that" I sobbed out.

"That's more than normal sweetheart, adoption is a great plan for those who don't want to keep a baby, but don't want to go through with an abortion" Carly spoke softly.

"I'm not 100% sure on adoption though" I let out quickly.

"That's common Alexie" Carly smiled. "I have lots of young people who become attached at all kinds of stages, some change their mind when they find out the gender, some after their 3D scan and some even chose to do so during labour or once they see the baby" Carly smiled.

"Oh, don't the adoptive couples get annoyed about people changing their minds? I asked.

"Sometimes, some couples get annoyed but they shouldn't, this is your decision and you choose what you want with your baby" Carly reassured me.

"I'm scared Carly" I croaked out. All eyes were on me.

"What are you scared about sweetheart?"

"I'm scared about being alone" I whispered.

"Your not alone Alexie, you have your parents and friends and me"

"James is going to leave me again" I shouted. Entangling my fingers in my hair.

"Lex, he didn't leave you" Jess smiled.

"He did, he left me alone when I needed him the most. He left me and I let him back in, and now look at me, I'm pregnant and alone" I shot back.

"Alexie, when did he leave?" Carly asked.

"He left me before, when I thought I was pregnant, when I was younger" I sobbed out.

"When was this?"

"I was 16" I began to explain. "James and I slept together before"

"You what?" Jess turned her head to face me again.

"We were drunk, really drunk, paralytic even, in the morning, I got up and ran home, he couldn't remember, then my period was late and I was scared, so I told James and he got really cut up about it and he stormed out. It was negative and thankfully we got over the whole thing thankfully"

"He's here now Lexi, he constantly tells Barclay" Jess smiled, grabbing my hand again.

"Okay Alexie, I'm going to ask you a couple of questions now and I would like to see you in a few weeks, once you've got your head around things sweetheart" Carly called out. Jess and I nodded.

"How far along are you?"

"I was 15 weeks yesterday" I replied.

"Okay sweetheart, well I will see you in about 6 weeks and we can discuss the whole adoption process and begin looking at couples" Carly smiled.

I stood up and shook her hand, as did Jess.

"She seemed nice" Jess called as we were walking down the hallway.

"Mm" I replied.

"Will you come with me next time?" I asked.

"Of course I will silly" Jess laughed, linking her arms with mine.

We waved goodbye to the receptionist and walked back out into the car.

Jess unlocked her car and we plonked ourselfs in.

"Urm, Alexie" Jess said anxiously.

"Yes?" I replied.

"That's Shannon's car" she pointed out the drivers window.

"Fuck" I cursed out allowed. What does she know? What was she doing there? Even worst, did she know this was Jess' car?

A/N - Firstly I want to wish you all an amazing 2015! So, an insight into Alexie's decision, James and Alexie have already had sex before when they were younger. Bet none of you would have guessed ;) also, Shannon's car, did she follow them? Does she know? Well, she's looking to cause trouble in the next couple of chapters so you'll all have to wait and see! Also, will there be baby Jarclays in the near horizon? (Barclay & Jess). Next chapter will be up tomorrow as I promise to update more regularly.
