Chapter 9

I frowned. "I thought you wanted to shop."

We were standing in front of the mall's movie theater looking at the different selections of movies.

Marcus shrugged. "I didn't really want to shop. I kinda just wanted to hang out and do something fun."

I puffed. "You know, I won't go in there with you."

He frowned. "Why?"

"Because it will be dark and you'll probably do something dirty and no one will see it so no one will know to stop you."

"I wouldn't do that!" He made a hurt face.

I crossed my arms. "Sure. Just like you didn't do it when we were in the bathroom at school or when you said you only wanted to show me your room."

He grumbled. "Sorry. But, i promise i won't do anything dirty to you."

I narrowed my eyes and looked him up and down. "I hate trusting you but, i need to get home so i guess it's no use arguing." I sighed. "Fine."

He grinned. "You're easier to pursuade than i thought."

I stepped on his foot. "Just pick a movie."

He chuckled, a slight whimper of pain mixed in. "What do you want to see?"

I looked over the movies. "I don't want something girly or something scary. Pick something with action."

He nodded. "What about 'R.I.P.D'?"

I shrugged. "Fine with me."

He bought the tickets and we headed into theater four. Once inside, Marcus chose some seats near the front and we sat down. The movie started and i almost forgot i was sitting next to someone.

The movie ended about two hours later and we stood up. While we were walking out Marcus asked, "How did you like the movie?"

I couldn't help the small smile i showed. "It was pretty good. A total remake of 'M.I.B.' but, not bad."

He nodded. "Yeah, but, you're right. It wasn't that bad for a remake. It was funny."

I laughed. "That movie wasn't serious at all."

He smiled. "What do you want to do now?"

I slowed my steps and thought. There wasn't really anything i wanted to do. "I don't know. I guess i need to get home but, unless i get your help..."

"Hm. I didn't exactly have a plan when i asked you out and I don't think I'm ready to take you home yet." We sat at some benches to think.

"I do need to get home though. I have homework and so do you."

He huffed. "No one wants to do homework."

I chuckled. "Who even invented homework?"

He shrugged. "A moron. That's who."

We sat in silence for a while then i stood up. "If we're not going to do anything i should get home."

He stood too. He looked sad but, just nodded. "Sure."

We walked out of the mall and made small talk all the way back to my house. When we got there i slowed my steps and visibly slumped. Marcus stopped and grabbed my shoulder. "You know... You can always stay with me if you don't want to go home."

I shook my head. "Thanks for the offer but-"

"No really. I honestly would love to have you. My mom and dad wouldn't mind either." He was pleading with his eyes.

I glanced at my house. Finally, I sighed. "Maybe just for tonight. I don't know what will happen if my parents knew i had left for good."

He scoffed. "If they hate you wouldn't they be happy?"

"No. I tried to run away only once and they got really mad and locked me in the basement before i could even leave the house."

He looked shocked. "They locked you in the basement?"

I nodded. "They do it all the time so it's not really a big deal anymore."

He growled and glared at the house. "Jerks."

I laughed. "That's the understatement of the century."

He rolled his eyes. "So, are you going to stay with me tonight?"

I bit my lip but, nodded. "I guess. But, i have to get my stuff."

He nodded. "Sure. Come on." He stood under the window and i stepped into his hands. I reached up and grabbed the ledge as he slowly lifted me higher so i could get in.

I pulled myself inside and landed on the floor. To my great relief, the dresser was still in front of my door and my room was untouched. I quickly went about grabbing some clothes and things and stuffing them in a bag.

When i was done i looked over the edge of my window. Marcus was still waiting at the bottom. He looked up. "Got everything?"

I nodded. He lifted his arms up. "Throw down your bag and then jump."

I nodded again. I brought my bag over and dropped it. He caught it and set it on the ground then he turned back to me. "Okay. Your turn."

I swung my legs over and looked down. It had been easy this morning but, now that it was getting dark it seemed farther down than before. He smiled. "Don't worry. I'll catch you."

I took a deep breath and pushed off. It was probably only a couple of seconds but, it felt like i was moving in slow motion and it felt so good to glid throught the air, the feeling of freedom rushing through me.

It was amazing.

Then i landed in Marcus's arms and he lowered my to the ground. He smirked. "You didn't hurt yourself, my lady?"

I punched his shoulder. "Lay off. You're the one who said 'Don't worry. I'll catch you'." I muttered.

He shrugged. "Yeah. Come on."

We walked the short distance between our houses and he opened the door for me. When we were both inside he called out, "Mom! Dad! I'm home!"

"Okay, honey! We're in the kitchen!" A voice came from deeper in the house.

He led me through the living room and into the kitchen where his parents were making dinner. "Mom, we have a guest."

I stood awkwardly, holding my bag in front of my thin legs. The lady standing at the counter turned around. "Oh, hi! You are the one who was here before, right?"

I nodded shyly. She grinned and smacked her husband's arm. "Dear, say hello, please."

He turned around and i nearly fainted. He was extremely tall and muscular with a serious look on his face. I had to concentrate on not shaking from the sight of him. "What's your name, young man?"

I swallowed. "E-Eliot."

He nodded. "You're friends with my son?"

"Y-yes, sir."

He grinned. "That's good to hear. He never brings friends home and it makes me worry that he ended up being a loner."

I if i wasn't in shock i probably would have smirked at Marcus. Then his mom stepped forward. "Are you staying for dinner?"

Marcus interrupted. "He was going to stay the night."

His mom smiled brightly. "Wouldn't that be just wonderful! Of course you can stay. Do you need to call your parents and let them know where you are?"

"No!" Me and Marcus both responded at the same time. We glanced at each other. "Um, no. His parents already know."

She nodded. "Okay. Go get settled in and we'll finish up with dinner."

Marcus led me upstairs and into his room. I set my stuff down and looked around. It looked just the same as it did when i was here the last time.

Marcus watched me in silence. He was sitting on his bed and had a pillow in his lap. "What do you think?"

I frowned. "Of what?"

"My room. What do you think of it?"

I raised an eyebrow. "I've been here before, you know?"

He rolled his eyes. "Yeah but, the last time i was sitting on you and you couldn't see much."

I blushed at the memory and suddenly wondered if it had been a bad idea to come here. He smirked. "You never even answered my question."

I stepped back. He chuckled. "I won't do anything. I know how you feel and i am determined to change your mind but, not with sexualy harassing you."

I laughed nervously. "Let's hope not."

Then we heard his mom call us down for dinner and we left the room.
