The room buzzes with tension, an invisible wire pulled tight between Luke and Deckard. The atmosphere crackles as Luke glares at Deckard, his voice cutting through the heavy silence.
"Ah, my day just got a whole hell of a lot better," Luke says, his tone dripping with sarcasm. Luke gestures toward Deckard, locking eyes with Mr. Nobody. "Mr. Nobody, you wanna tell me why you just put me in a room with this tea and crumpets eating, criminal sumbitch?"
"What a big mouth on a small head, coming from Prisoner 6753," Deckard taunts as his lips curl into a faint smirk, the picture of unbothered confidence. Letty steps forward, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
"Don't think we've forgotten everything that you've done," Letty says, her voice low and brimming with disdain. Tej stands beside her, arms crossed in solidarity.
"We are not teaming up with this guy," Tej says firmly, shaking his head in disbelief. Deckard's smirk deepens as he surveys the room.
"Let's get one thing clear," Deckard responds, his British accent adding a sharp edge to his words. "I ain't on your team." Deckard's gaze sweeps from Tej to the rest of the crew. "I don't care about you, your crew, or your little family. I'm here for Cipher."
"What are you gonna do, apply for a job? Head Asshole?" Luke barks out a laugh, stepping closer.
"You know, I think that tight T-shirt is cutting off the circulation to your brain. You should get a bigger size," Deckard doesn't miss a beat. The insult lands, but Luke brushes it off with a snort. Deckard takes a step toward the table, his smirk fading as his expression hardens. "Cipher came to me first. Wanted me to steal Nightshade for her. When I said no, she went after my brother." At the mention of Owen Shaw, Mr. Nobody interjects, his tone light but calculated.
"Ah, yes, brother Owen," Mr. Nobody says, pressing a button on his remote. Owen's profile flickers to life on a screen behind him. "Who could forget him, huh? Former hell-raiser and current guest at a nasty little black site prison." Deckard's jaw tightens, his fury barely contained.
"Cipher corrupted him and left him for dead," Deckard says, his voice low and dangerous. "So, if I get a shot to take her down, believe me, Flex, I'm taking it."
Deckard circles the table, his path aimed directly at Luke. Little Nobody shifts uncomfortably, his hand hovering over his holstered gun.
"You're taking my boot right up your ass, is what you're taking," Luke growls, stepping around Mr. Nobody to close the distance. Mr. Nobody quickly moves between them, his hands raised in a show of peace.
"Guys, guys," Mr. Nobody says, his voice calm but firm. "The fastest way to find Cipher is through Toretto." The room goes still. Everyone's focus shifts to Mr. Nobody as he continues. "Now, aside from myself, there are only two men in the world who've ever managed to track Toretto down with any success. And guess what?" Mr. Nobody pauses, his gaze flicking between Luke and Deckard. "They're both standing in front of me right now. So, like it or not, you two are gonna work together. You got that?"
Luke and Deckard exchange a look, their mutual disdain palpable, but Mr. Nobody doesn't wait for their answer.
"I'm gonna take that as a yes," Mr. Nobody adds with a satisfied nod.
"Am I the only one seeing this?" Roman interjects, his incredulous tone breaking the tension.
"Oh, this ought to be good," Little Nobody quips, rolling his eyes. Roman ignores him, raising a finger as if delivering a stroke of genius.
"Use God's Eye," Roman suggests, looking at the team. "We put our lives on the line, running around the world trying to figure this thing out. It can find anybody, right? Let's use it to find Dom."
"Roman, that is a great idea," Mr. Nobody says smoothly, slipping his remote into his pocket. Roman's grin spreads across his face.
"Did you hear that?" Roman says, turning to Ramsey while Alexandra lightly shakes her head, still feeling nauseous. "Great idea. No, no, no, don't tune it out."
"Mr. Nobody, let's fire it up, huh?" Luke says, his voice cutting through Roman's gloating. Luke's eyes are fixed on Mr. Nobody, his eagerness to find Dom unmistakable. Mr. Nobody steps to the door, unlocking it with a flourish.
"Right this way," Mr. Nobody says, motioning for the team to follow.
Alexandra, standing near the back of the group, watches him closely. Something in his tone feels off. As the team files out, Alexandra slips to the restroom, her instincts telling her that Mr. Nobody knows more than he's letting on.
Alexandra leans against the sink, gripping the edges as she breathes heavily. Her stomach churns, the acidic taste of bile still lingering in her throat. Alexandra splashes cold water onto her face, hoping to shake the unease. When she looks up, Letty is standing behind her, her reflection in the mirror showing a concerned expression.
"You good?" Letty asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah," Alexandra replies, her voice unconvincing as she shrugs. "Nerves, I guess."
Letty does not look convinced, but she nods. Without another word, they leave the restroom to rejoin the others. The team gathers in the briefing room, the air thick with tension and anticipation. Alexandra positions herself beside Luke, but Letty's watchful eyes linger on her.
"This is interesting," Mr. Nobody says with a knowing smile, standing at the head of the room.
"Why?" Little Nobody asks, turning toward him, curiosity evident.
"Because that's here," Mr. Nobody answers cryptically, pointing to the screen.
Before anyone can respond, an explosion rocks the room. The blast sends everyone to the floor as smoke and debris fill the air. The sound is deafening, and Alexandra instinctively shields her head.
Two sleek machines roll into the room, their metallic frames glinting ominously in the haze. Suddenly, grenades begin ejecting from the machines, each one hissing before exploding with concussive force. Luke pulls himself up and rushes toward Alexandra.
"Alex, you okay?" Luke shouts over the chaos, but before she can answer, a grenade hurtles toward him. Luke catches it mid-air and hurls it away, the explosion throwing him backward. Luke hits the ground hard, groaning in pain.
Deckard spots Ramsey struggling to get up. Without hesitation, he dives toward her, pulling her down as another grenade detonates nearby. The explosion reverberates through the room, causing a reinforced metal door to fly across the room, trapping Deckard.
Through the smoke, Cipher and Dom stride into the room. Cipher's expression is smug, her posture confident as she surveys the chaos. The team struggles to recover, their movements sluggish and disoriented.
"Did you all enjoy that?" Cipher's voice cuts through the ringing in their ears, mocking. "Next generation concussion grenade. It scrambles your senses. Don't worry, it'll wear off in an hour. Probably."
Dom follows her silently, his face unreadable as Cipher steps closer to Deckard.
"Hello, Deckard. Nice to see you again," Cipher says, her tone dripping with false sweetness. Cipher's eyes flick towards Dom, a smirk tugging at her lips. "Look at this. Body's not even cold, Dom. Your family's already replacing you." Cipher turns her attention back to Deckard, raising her gun. "You chose the losing team. I guess your brother's smarter than you."
Dom's gaze shifts at the mention of Owen, landing on his brother's profile displayed on a fractured screen. His expression hardens, but he doesn't speak. Cipher moves to the workstation where Ramsey had been working, pulling a small device from her pocket. Cipher plugs it into the terminal, typing rapidly as a disc ejects.
"Smart move, embedding God's Eye into the mainframe," Cipher mutters, pocketing the disc and her device. "Irritating to make me come all the way down here to get it, but..." Cipher trails off with a chuckle.
Alexandra doubles over suddenly, vomiting from the lingering effects of the concussion grenades. Cipher pauses, her attention snapping to Alexandra.
"Dom!" Letty shouts, her voice strained as she forces herself upright. Letty locks eyes with him, pain and desperation etched into her face. "You're gonna turn your back on family? Just like that?"
Dom hesitates, his jaw clenching. Cipher steps in front of him, her smirk widening as she glances at Letty. In a deliberate move, she leans in and kisses Dom, her eyes fixed on Letty as if to twist the knife.
"Grab her, and let's go," Cipher commands, motioning toward Alexandra before turning to leave.
Dom strides over to Alexandra, his expression unreadable as he lifts her into his arms.
"Dom!" Alexandra whispers, her wide, panicked eyes meeting his.
Alexandra glances at Luke, who is still struggling to recover on the floor. Dom says nothing, his grip firm as he carries her out of the room, following Cipher into the unknown.
