Chapter 2

The students gaped at the two unfamiliar yet stunning figures that were walking around the school's hallway.

"Wow, who are they?"

"Isn't that Jin-ah with them? Are they her siblings?"

One girl that was beside you didn't even hide the fact that she was goggling at you. "Heya," you greeted at her and she visibly went stiff. She was cute, but not exactly your type.

Meanwhile, Jin-ah was hugging your left arm, not wanting to let go in case that you disappeared like a bubble popping once more. "Wow, you two are pretty popular," she commented as she took note of her fellow schoolmates staring at you two in amazement as if they were looking at renowned idols rather than hunters.

"That's right, you two are single, no? Should I introduce you two to cute students?"

"Don't make fun of me," Jinwoo pinched his sister's cheeks even though it looked like he was basically ripping her face away. Poor girl.

"Why introduce us to other people when you can just start seeing me as your sister-in-law?" You butted in, simpering as you saw Jinwoo's grip on his kin's face visibly lessening, saving her from whatever force her brother was exerting on her.

Jinwoo was left alone to be in the teacher's faculty since you technically have no right to attend when you were neither a family nor a guardian to Jin-ah. So with that stated, you used this time to have a talk with her and catch up as well during all those years that you had missed.

"You and your brother really grew up well. Puberty did you well," you said whilst taking a chug out of the can of soda that you bought with their school's vending machine. Jin-ah was sitting on the bench and you decided to lean on the wall instead since it kind of made you look cooler more than what you actually were.

"You're talking about my brother and I's changes when we should really be talking about you! Why did you suddenly leave without telling us?" You were hoping that this conversational topic wouldn't be put in the limelight, but perhaps that was too much to ask for. You did owe her an explanation, but you didn't want to tell her the whole story for a reason that you didn't understand as well.

"Hunter things. Pops suddenly shoved a plane ticket to America on my face for training. It happened too quickly that I wasn't able to inform you guys about this."

"You could've just contacted us using your phone."

"Can't, he confiscated it since he pushed the notion that it was such a huge distraction to me. Sorry." Please let this subject end with this.

"Hmmm, alright, apology and explanation accepted," she threw you a bright grin. Like Jinwoo, her appearance only changed but what's inside them didn't. They were still the people that you'd come to love and you wouldn't have it any other way.

"You should've seen how my brother reacted to your disappearance."

This piqued your curiosity.

"Interesting, mind telling me more about that?' You have moved towards the bench to sit on it since standing for more than five minutes wasn't your cup of tea.

She hummed, recollecting the memories right after you had gone missing. "First, I could hear Jinwoo's sobbing every night. Even if he had his own room, his whimpers were still audible even from my own quarters."

Yeah, you kind of knew that he would've at least shed some tears, but you didn't expect it to reach that extent where he would do so without a rest. "Continue," you egged her on. "He would often come home late since he'd stay in the playground you two used to frequent, probably hoping that by mere chance, you'd appear there and everything would go back to normal."

You already felt worse before, but the feeling heightened the more that you listened to her story. You didn't even want to leave Korea in the first place. In fact, you were just forced to comply to your father's wishes simply because he held more power than you. But maybe... Maybe if you had gone against his order that day and chose to remain here rather than flying to a foreign country, things would've been different.

You thought that it would be done there, but it wasn't.

"That was the worst of Jinwoo that I had ever seen. I had to even force him to eat or else he would've gone a day without food entering his stomach." Were you this precious to Jinwoo for him to be affected so much by your embarkation?

"But..." She started.

You didn't discern the fact that you had already crushed the tin can using your hands since you used such little force.

"But?"

"This is the first time in such a long time that I saw my brother have the light in his eyes again."

"Isn't that too for the great and almighty Jin-ah?" This was getting too serious, so you attempted to jest in hopes of easing the mood like it was before. Although it might appear that you were making light of the situation at hand, your chest felt so heavy with the turmoil of emotions within you. You felt like you were the most abominable person on Earth for causing such emotional pain to someone, and knowing that you could've done something to prevent it made the feeling a thousand times more awful.

"Shut up... I'm just glad though that now, he has the chance to-"

Before Jin-ah was able to finish her sentence, the talk of the conversation had just arrived, hindering her from concluding her statement. Although Jinwoo had speeded to right where you and his sister were, he was still in top shape since he was neither panting nor trying to catch his breath. He could've just walked leisurely like a normal person would, so what's up with him trying to get here as soon as possible.

"Y/n... Let's go," he had stretched out his hand to you and you took it, confused as to where he was taking you.

"Huh? Okay-- wait, bye, Jin-ah! See ya later!" You bid the girl goodbye before allowing yourself to be dragged towards God-knows-where.

The former was snickering as she saw the frantic expression in Jinwoo's face. As luck would had have it, he had stopped her before she was able to say what she was meaning to voice out. While it was funny to see her now cool brother in such a frantic way, it still frustrated her a little bit.

His capabilities as a hunter had improved and even the state of his figure was impressively different from his old shape yet...

.

.

Yet he still couldn't gather enough strength to tell you how he truly felt. Would he really waste his time again and shy away from confessing to you like a wimp?

Ah, she really didn't understand her brother.
