Chapter 90

Jimin opened his eyes slowly, feeling his eyelids heavy and his vision blurry. His ears buzzed for a few minutes as he let a sound escape his lips then proceeded to move his head and take in his surroundings in order to figure out where he was.

After realizing that he was in his own room, he closed his eyes again, letting his mind bring back memories of yesterday which flashed before his eyes quite clear, making his head feel heavy and giving birth to a certain amount of regret that made him want the earth to open and swallow him up.

"I must go request to make a statue in Y/N's honour. How does  she even manage to still tolerate me, I wonder." He spoke softly to himself, regretting every word he had said yesterday and the fact that he wanted to marry a stranger, whose name he still does not remember.

"You woke up!" Jungkook popped up by the side of his bed, suddenly, starling Jimin tremendously as he wasn't expecting him to appear, nor did he know that he was laying on the floor beside his bed, waiting for him to regain consciousness.

"Oh my God, I almost had a heart attack," Jimin uttered as he held his hand over his heart and Jungkook looked at him with worry in his eyes.

"What? Are you in that serious condition? I will call an ambulance."

"What are you talking about! I just said that because you scared me. It was a simple expression, put the phone down!" Jimin caught up to him as Jungkook had already taken his phone out of his pocket.

Jungkook put the phone away soon after they clarified that momentary misunderstanding and the two of them just stared at each other for a moment before their eyes began to wander around the room, each slightly nervous and awkward since they hadn't been in each other's company for a while, just the two of them, especially after what had happened between them.

"Ah sorry about the messages yesterday. If I were in my right mind of course I would have never bothered you." Jimin managed to find something to speak about, making his attempt to explain that he didn't have any intentions of in including him in any mess, nor he was trying to see him.

"I understand but you weren't in your right mind... And... I was worried... So be more careful!" Jungkook replied as if scolding him in a way and Jimin's eyes widened for a moment as his mind was stuck on only one word. And then he just smiled at him, before letting that smile to disappear and morphe into a sad expression on his face.

"At least you still care, even if it's only a little bit. That's something." He let those words echo in the room and then regretted it a bit as the atmosphere fell into silence and a heaviness seemed to exist in the air they both breathed in.

Jimin expected Jungkook to leave after a few minutes, but against his guess, Jungkook simply started pacing around around the room, before going and taking a seat on the edge of Jimin's bed.

"This may not be the best time but, I have some things to tell you." Jungkook finally broke the silence and Jimin slowly rose to a sitting position before giving him his attention.

"I'd like to tell you some things too. Without ending up arguing or hitting each other. You can start first." Jimin answered him and Jungkook turned to face him.

"Sorry," Jungkook uttered and Jimin lost his concentration momentarily as he thought he must have heard him wrong.

" What? "

"I said that I am sorry. I know I've been selfish and didn't give you a chance to explain even though I kind of know more or less." Jungkook went on, now his gaze lowered to the covers as he blurted out thoughts that had been eating him at night for quite a while now.

"What are you saying? I'm the one who should be apologizing. Seon is your wife and I knew that. You can't imagine how I felt, every day when I saw her by your side, as your girlfriend. How I hated myself , who never stopped wanting her. Jungkook, you may not believe me but god knows how many years I fought alone to stay away from her because she was yours. Because I didn't want to hurt anyone... I didn't want to hurt you" Jimin started to explain his side with passion and emotion in his eyes as it seemed to him as if this moment was his only chance to ever do so.

It was gonna be hard for anyone to understand him and he knew that well. It was difficult even for him to properly express the hell he had lived through for years. The feelings he had were wrong, but that didn't stop them from existing and growing day by day, behind the closed doors of his heart, until a moment came that his feelings overflowed, and overtook him. That moment being the night of the bachelor party.

God knows, how much he himself would have liked for all this to have been just an impulse of his, as of such all would consider his actions and accuse him, because if it had truly been just an impulse of lust,  he himself would have considered himself nothing and would deem his own self deserving of everything, but because it was not that, the way to clear judgment was no longer easy to be seen. And even though his actions should not have happened, his heart never regretted for a moment anything for he had sinned, but he had seen for Seon and with Seon.

"Jimin, I'm hurt. I can't lie. Not only because she was my wife, but because you are my brother, but at the same time I know that I'm not completely clean either, and I can't blame it all on you. It's your fault, yes, but it's my fault too. So I want you to know that I'm sorry." Jungkook spoke up, making Jimin's thoughts go a little haywire. Why did he seem so sane and logical all of a sudden?

"I'm the one who made a mistake from the beginning. I'm the one who thought I could win her love just because her mind had forgotten you. I played with fate and got burned by it and now it shows." Jungkook continued and now Jimin looked at him clearly confused as he didn't know what he was talking about.

"What exactly do you mean by that?"

" Hyung... Seon was in love with you.. From the very beginning. You were the one she liked and then.. Somehow things came around and she lost part of her memories and I used that to my advantage. I thought she would love me and I did everything for it to happen, but her heart never forgot you strangely enough." Jungkook confessed, keeping the information about the pills to himself for now.

"From the beginning?? THE BEGINNING?? Like, the first time we met?" Jimin exclaimed in obvious shock and Jungkook nodded his head to give him a positive reply before silence fell between them again.

"Wow" Was all that escaped from Jimin's lips after a few minutes as his mind wandered a bit. You had told him many times that Seon wouldn't do anything with him if there wasn't something deeper in her for him, but he hadn't imagined anything like this or as long-lasting as his own feelings for her.

"Yes.. If you want to show your joy over that fact, go ahead and do it. you don't have to feel bad because I am here."

"No no. I don't.. I mean.. I don't want to hurt your emotions." Jimin told him as he looked at him with a worried look and Jungkook just smiled, before looking around a bit and getting a little closer to him.

"You know, I think that whatever happened, happened for a reason. My love had no good foundations, and though I once thought I would die without her, now I know that it is not precisely the lack of her presence that is the reason for my misery." Jimin looked into his eyes as at that moment he could see a bit of fear, under the smile he had put on his lips and for some reason, he felt the need to take his brother in his arms and so he did.

He held him tight as if he was afraid that he would break if he was to let him go, and Jungkook stayed still for a moment before his eyes began to get filled with tears.

"It will pass. Everything will be alright again one day. Whatever you're thinking, I hope you know I don't hate you and I hope deep down you're not capable of hating me either." Jimin murmured softly to him and now both of their minds began to flood with memories of the past and every good brotherly moment the two had had together.

" I don't hate you... I'm sorry hyung, I'm sorry... It's all my fault. For our situation and Seon's situation. Everything." Jungkook lowered his head as he said those words then slightly pulled away from Jimin's hug and then they both just sat there, Jimin's hand had found its way to rest atop Jungkook's head, as he looked at him fondly and Jungkook had left his hand to rest on his shoulder until they heard a sound and made them instantly retrieve their hands out of startlement.

"Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you. Go on go on." You uttered to them from the doorway where you had been standing for a few seconds now, having seen the touching moment between the siblings, which brought you great joy and made you slightly tear up.

"Y/n, are you crying?" Jimin asked you as your tears made the light in your eyes reflect more.

"No, it's nothing, something got into my eye." You replied and then turned around to leave, making Jimin laugh a little at your obvious lie.

"Ah I don't deserve such a wonderful person like you by my side. How can one not cherish her and consider her the best friend I could ever have and the best that ever happened to me, when she does stuff like this." Jimin said out loud, purposely for you to hear and soon you answered him, confirming that you had heard him, so he ended up laughing even more.

"Sugarcoating me won't save you, Mister. I will still hear all my complaints about your stupid actions!" Your voice echoed as you were walking away, and Jimin was gazing fondly towards the door.

Jungkook looked at Jimin while he was laughing but unfortunately, his mind had travelled elsewhere from the moment he had seen you and that elsewhere wasn't anything else but what he had found out last night about your debt.

"Hyung, can I ask you something real quick?"

"Sure, what is it?" Jimin collected himself and faced his brother.

"Do you know if Y/N is in dept to anyone?"

"Ah yes. She is, unfortunately. I have told her many times to let me pay it for her but she has not accepted. How did you know about that though?"

"I'll tell you later about that, but answer me this one too. Do you know how long she has been in debt?" Jungkook looked at him seriously, giving Jimin a feeling that he wasn't asking randomly and that something was being done about this topic.

"Ever since I met her, her family has been in debt. But not always to the same person, I mean it's been a while since her debt was transferred to someone else and she was kind of upset about it, but I don't know why she was so upset. I never got the chance to properly discuss it with her now that I think about it." Jimin told him what he knew without hesitation and Jungkook's face seemed to turn paler as his thoughts seemed to be getting him to one conclusion.

The memory of that day when Luke had come to his office, and your reaction flashed on his mind. You had literally passed out at the time and were visibly upset.

It seems that this Luke to whom she owes money to, is not only the same person that I know but...it could also be the man from the incident in her past that she confided in me about.

He came up with this terrifying thought that, as absurd as it was, was now stuck inside his head.

I need to know what's going on. I need to find out.

Jungkook concluded and stood up from the edge of the bed that he was occupying, ignoring Jimin's voice that asked him where he was going, as he walked out of his room with a sense of urgency.
