Chapter 82
It had been three days since Seon was admitted to the hospital and kept in, three days that you were coming home and kept updating Jimin on Seon's health as he was extremely worried about her but still, he hadn't done any attempt to go see her, following your advice, as you had told him that it would be better not to disturb Seon with his presence for some time.
It had been three days since Jungkook hadn't set foot at work after the words he had exchanged with you in the hallway and he had closed himself in his house. His couch had now moved as he had positioned it so that it could face the front door and he could see it while seated on it and that was what he had done all day. He sat there staring at the front door, waiting for it to open and bring Seon back to him.
For some reason your words hadn't left his mind as he stared at the door for hours, thinking it was futile to hope and you most likely were right. Seon would probably never go back to him because everything he did was simply unacceptable. But though he knew well that he did not deserve her, his hope would not die. In this little hell of thoughts and anxiety, he had lived these three days until he was to fall asleep on the couch, just as he had now.
But while he slept and his pain had come to a rest, in another house, a heart had been filled with pain at the words his girlfriend had just uttered. Ari had just told her boyfriend Taehyung that she wanted to break up and he was left staring at her, lost for words.
Yes, he knew she was mad at what he and Yoongi had done with the bet but he didn't expect them to get to break up because of it. He had an explanation and told her everything about the bet after Jungkook had lit that fire for him and yes he knew that nothing made his act right, but he still didn't want to lose her.
"Ari, please don't say that. I know it was stupid and I regret it, but I swear nothing happened. I didn't even touch Dae, we just went out for coffee a few times and talked, that's all." He told her, his eyes begging her to understand him.
"If I hadn't found out though, you might have. Just because you didn't cheat on me doesn't mean you didn't mean to do so. I'm sorry Taehyung but if you are willing to cheat on me over a bet, our relationship is pointless." She replied before turning to leave for the exit, making Taehyung run to position himself at the front door to block her.
"Sit down my love, let's talk about it. Please, you know I love you." He told her with two eyes that begged her to believe him and give him one more chance.
"Can you swear right now that if the moment came, you wouldn't do anything with her and you would give up on the bet willingly?" Ari asked looking into his eyes and Taehyung fell silent as he wasn't sure of his answer.
Yes, nothing had happened between him and Dae, but he had clear intentions to do something to win the bet, so he could not swear. As he kept his mouth shut, he could clearly see the disappointment in the eyes of the girl he loved and he stepped aside to let her go.
Ari allowed her pain to get displayed in her orbs briefly before she walked over and opened the door, halting by the door to glance behind her. "This might be the dumbest thing you've ever done. I honestly thought our relationship was worth more than a gamble. At least now I know I was wrong. Bye Tae."
Ari's words rang in his ears after she left closing the door, now alone in the corner, he stood there staring at the floor as he muttered that she was right. This bet was the dumbest thing he had ever done and it cost him a girl he loved.
---Time skip---
You were in front of your computer in your office, which you haven't been missing from since the incident with Jungkook.
Even though you had a couple of things to do, like getting by to visit Seon at the hospital and taking care of Jimin's recovery as well as last night's issues with Dae and Ari who had gathered at Seon's apartment and intended to stay there for a few days, having argued with their boys badly.
At least Dae had only had a fight and had simply decided not to talk to him for a while until she decided what to do while Ari had let you know that she had broken up with Taehyung yesterday. She seemed determined to your surprise, so much so that she was considering leaving her shop for a few months and going to Greece for a while, to escape the mess and clear her mind.
She wasn't sure about this thought yet, but the truth was that it didn't sound bad. If you could get some distance from everything yourself, you would have, but in your case no matter where you were to go, you couldn't run from your thoughts.
Thoughts that included the whole situation of Seon, Jimin and of course Jungkook for whom you were very worried these days that he was away but you couldn't do anything for him. And you shouldn't even be wanting to help him normally after the words he had spoken but for some reason, you still felt sorry for him, and that fact made you slightly angry with yourself.
"Y/N" You turned your attention to Shin who called out to you and upon seeing him, he motioned for you to approach him.
You got up from your desk and headed to the door where Shin was also standing and once there he proceeded to inform you that you were requested to go up to the boss's office.
You smiled for a moment, thinking that Jungkook would have probably returned back to work and for some reason, the fact made you happy, as that meant that he must have been feeling slightly better and you didn't have to worry anymore.
After greeting Shin, you hurriedly headed for the elevator and entered, patiently waiting for it to reach the floor where Jungkook's office was located.
Once there, You approached the secretary telling her that you were called and that's when Jungkook's secretary told you to head to the meeting room as that was where you were asked to be.
You were a little taken aback as there was usually no reason for Jungkook to call you into the meeting room but you went anyway, knocking lightly on the door once there, then proceeding to push the door and enter.
It was only when you had entered that you came to realize that Jungkook was not there and your feet halted in place, Having Jungkook's male secretary in front of you, with Luke standing by his side.
"Ah, Miss Y/N. The gentleman here is the representative of a company from London that we wish to do business with. For the simple reason that our boss is in another meeting at the moment, which unfortunately leaves the esteemed gentleman in a situation that he had to wait here for a while, I have called you." The secretary explained before he took some steps closer to you and whispered the rest of his sentence by the side of your ear, for only you to hear. "For some reason, this gentleman requested you to be the one to keep him company until Mr Jungkook arrives. We have sent someone to go get him so please do your best " The secretary made a signal with his head at you when mentioning Jungkook in an attempt to let you know that he was in no meeting because he just hadn't come to work today either, even though he knew that he had his second rescheduled appointment with the man.
You remained silent as the secretary smiled at Luke who had taken a seat comfortably in his chair, and then he gazed at you again, showing the worry and anxiety that had taken over him at that moment, for handling this was out of his jurisdiction and if he was to mess up, he knew Jungkook would most likely fire him.
It was preposterous for Jungkook to leave work like that and honestly, everyone was starting to panic in the company with his continued absence.
The secretary left the room soon after, leaving you there standing like a statue still under a veil of shock for you were before the gaze of the man you hated and feared more than anyone.
"Are you going to pass out again? Or are you used to my presence now?" He questioned you once alone with a smirk on his lips, letting you know that he had definitely recognized you.
"Why did you ask to see me?" It was the only response he got from you, as at that moment you were making an inhuman effort not to show the panic that had overwhelmed you.
"I have to wait so why not spend my time with a familiar face from the past? Who knows, we might even have a few things to talk about." His smirk grew before he stood up and took a step forward, causing you to take a step back.
Luke dropped his gaze to your feet instantly after that, having noticed your attempt to keep your distance from him and for some reason that made him feel satisfied as he looked up again to face you with a sense of delight in his orbs.
"What is it, sweety? Are you afraid of me?" He asked you, his gaze making your breath hitch in your throat.
"Just don't come near me." You managed to answer him before his sneer reached your ears.
