Chapter 76

Jimin was walking from the supermarket back to his apartment, as this was the only route he had taken for the past three days, as another three he was not in the mood to leave his house for any reason at all.

His psychological state was in ruins, not only because he hurt his brother and their relationship may never be repaired again but also for the simple reason that he sincerely had left all his feelings unfold for her yet again she had zeroed them out without even think twice.

It seemed to him that Seon's feelings for him were just so insignificant compared to the feelings that she has for Jungkook and that pissed him off because his feelings for her were so much more.

Now he didn't know what to do with his life. He had hurt important people in his life for this love of his and the guilt was there, every time he closed his eyes. As well as Seon's face, her kisses, her caresses and the taste of her lips, of her skin.

I must forget her! I have to move on.

He said to himself for the umpteenth time as his feet slowly brought him closer to the door of his apartment located in Tokyo, still oblivious to the existence of the young neighbour who was waiting for him with a plastic container in her hands.

"Oh! Ayami. What are you doing here?" He asked her as soon as he noticed her and the young girl with short honey-coloured hair and a sweet little face smiled at him before answering him.

"I heard you were in town and that you were sick so I brought you something to eat since I cooked." The twenty year old student told him as her eyes looked at the floor more than him, always having the same shy demeanor that Jimin thought was characteristic of her character when in reality she only became shy in his presence.

"Your sister told you, I guess. It wasn't really necessary. I was getting by just fine by myself." He told her as he unlocked his door, referring to the older sister of Ayami who was a flight attendant and works with him.

"She just told me to take a look at you and check if you're alive. Pilot Namjoon hasn't left her at peace asking about you, he said." Jimin smiled at the name of his friend and partner who had called him several times but he hadn't answered his calls either.

"He always sticks his nose, ah that man." He commented though he was pleased that there were people who cared and worried about him. People like you whose phone calls he had also not answered.

Jimin walked in and headed to the living room, leaving his shopping bag on the coffee table as Ayami went to the kitchen to put the food away, the girl knowing the ins and outs of the apartment well as she was responsible for keeping it clean against a salary, of course, which covered her student needs, since she doesn't pay rent, as the apartment opposite Jimin's, which she lived in belonged to her now deceased grandmother.

"Shall I clean up a moment? The place looks awful." She commented as soon as she walked back into the living room and Jimin just laughed, letting her do as she pleased.

And so she did, pacing the apartment little by little as he met her eyes, but his mind was elsewhere again.

"Are you thinking about your girlfriend again?" The young woman's sweet voice reached his ears, he nodding his head giving her a positive response, not wanting to deny it. He was thinking of Seon again like he had been doing so many times every day.

"How did we say her name was.. Um.. Y/N I think?" She wondered aloud, making him snap out of his thoughts in surprise, for he had brought Seon in mind while being asked about his girlfriend instead of bringing you, who everyone knew as someone who was still his girlfriend.

"We broke up." He blurted out and the girl looked at him in surprise, before her gaze turned sympathetic.

A silence fell between them for a while before the young woman gathered her courage and walked over to him, both of her hands cupping his face before she boldly and suddenly let her lips fall to his.

Jimin was surprised at her action and just stared at her as soon as she pulled away from him. "I know it's sudden but I don't want you to be sad. Whatever the reason you broke up was, she is the one missing out. Because there are a lot of people ready to love you and support you and one of them is me."

Her words left him speechless and his mind went blank briefly for he had never expected such a thing from her because it never crossed his mind that she might want him or anything. It seems he was too caught up in his own thoughts and feelings to miss something so obvious.

He looked into her eyes and knew that he had her wrapped around his finger at that moment, he knew that he could use her as he could please and make himself forget about Seon even for a minute, but his heart didn't like the thought of it. To touch any other than she felt repulsive to him and that made him angry.

Why, why while my feelings don't matter to her, why, why can't I betray her as she does?

His anguished thoughts pained him, making him realize how much of a loser he was in this case, because in his eyes it seemed as if he was the only one who gave his heart away and she simply threw it away in the trash.

"I have a friend who always comforts me properly. She was by my side even when I didn't deserve her. And from her I learned that support does not come from kisses or caresses or any physical contact. Real support comes from the heart, without any personal gain, rather than that it comes from wanting to understand the other and trying to make the other person feel even a little bit better. I know your motives may not have been bad, but I don't need this support from you." His response came off as abrupt and cold to the girl as his stare let her know how mad he was towards her action, making her retrieve her stance, apologise to him then proceed to walk away awkwardly.

And Jimin whipped his lips as he just waited to hear the door close before he grabbed his cell phone and called the friend he was referring to just earlier. The only one who he wanted to hear and allow himself to appear weak before.

"Y/N... Can we talk?"

---Time skip---

Jungkook and Seon were sitting across from each other at the table, with Jungkook taking a deep breath before confessing something he wished that he would have never had the need to speak of.

He himself was not very proud of the actions he had done at the time, but as he was presented back then with an opportunity with his crush, who was none other than Seon, he had seen it as fateful.

"So. Do you remember when we were in university, we had a project together and we would gather at my house or in libraries to finish it.?" He reminded her of the reason the two had started talking in the first place and then they had ended up becoming more friendly. Those two being the reason the others got to meet each other as her group of friends later started merging with his.

"Three months of work and it was after the day we delivered it to the professor that we had arranged to go for coffee and.. I was late.." Seon searched her memory while he spoke finding a gap, and then she remembered herself waiting for him at a traffic light.

"I was with Taehyung that day in my car and I was late and I was in a hurry because I didn't want you to think that I stood you up. I wasn't paying attention and.. I don't even know how it happened or why, but I passed by a red traffic light... I hit you with the car." His head sank into his hands as he recalled that moment of terror for him, who had been doubly shocked when he got out of his car and was confronted by the unconscious body of the girl he had liked for three months.

The then panicked Jungkook had immediately taken her to the hospital, his mind clouded and both eyes full of tears.

"What?" was all Seon uttered, not having imagined hearing such a thing coming out of his mouth ever in her life.

"You were unconscious for two days and I didn't say a word to anyone, even at the hospital I said I didn't know who hit you. I told them I found you like this. I lied... I was scared." He admitted, now his breathing sounding heavier.

"And then you woke up, and  I was so happy and terrified at the same time because you knew that I was the one that hit you with the car. And I don't even know how, but I remembered the pills that Taehyung had left in the car and told me to throw them away." His eyes met hers full of regret. "And I gave some to you. I'm sorry Seon."

Seon was left speechless as she had no memory of any of those things that he was speaking about although she does remember waking up in the hospital and Jungkook telling her that she had passed out from exhaustion.

"When you woke up again, you didn't remember much and most importantly, you didn't remember what relationship did we have between us. And it might sound crazy to you but... I liked you for so long and I asked you to be my girlfriend the day before and you told me that you liked my brother. You were honest and straightforward and yet when I asked you to be friends for my sake you agreed. And after that terrible night of rejection, suddenly after that accident, it seemed like an opportunity opened up before me. I couldn't let it pass me by "His words had now left her in complete shock, because that day she had trusted his words. He had told her that she had agreed to be his girlfriend yesterday and her memory vaguely remembered the look on his face asking her, so she had believed it.

She had stayed at his apartment for three days after that as he had told her that he wanted to keep her close until she was well rested and he had been the sweetest person to her these days, making her believe that he was definitely someone worth having feelings for.

Seon was a person firm in her opinions and her word and that's why after being his girlfriend, her attention was focused only on him. And she tried hard to love him properly for he always displayed how he loved her so much.

Something like this had often gotten out of her control though she doesn't remember it, her feelings for Jimin taking over her dreams, forcing Jungkook to give her other dozes of pills to keep her memory from remembering the truth. From losing her.

"How could you?... This is deception... You used me. You manipulated my memory and my emotions for your benefit. You basically made me a drug experiment! What the hell were you thinking!" She gasped out as she felt as if she was suffocating. Her mind was in chaos and she didn't know anymore, what thoughts and feelings inside her she could trust for even those were cultivated by him.

Now she felt like an empty person who could trust no one, not even herself.

"I know it wasn't right. But we were so good together. I love you-"

"We're not good together! I don't even know you! I don't even know myself! It's all an illusion you created, you cultivated false feelings. This is not love, this is a sick obsession." She told him as she looked into his eyes and then got up to leave.

"No, Seon no. It's not like that. Don't go!" He followed her and grabbed her arm to stop her, but Seon pulled away, giving him a look of fear.

"Stay away from me. You hear me!" She told him as her lips trembled and Jungkook simply froze seeing the fear in her gaze that made him feel awful.

"I want a divorce! I want nothing to do with you ever again!" She told him, her eyes now letting tears of pain and agony roll down her cheeks as before her stood a man she loved and cared for and thought she knew. But everything had now fallen like a house of cards, her life had been turned upside down just like that and she was in ruins.

Jungkook was silent as his love left his house, the sound of the door closing, rang out like a tombstone inside him as the word divorce swirled around in his mind.

Everything had come to an end with the truth that was so ugly and which he himself had always known would destroy everything, which was why he had done everything possible to keep it hidden.

Who was the one who brought it to the surface? Who was the one who destroyed the efforts he put in for years? Whoever it was, Jungkook would never forgive them.

All he had to do was to find out who had blubbered about those pills to her.
