"-and the best part is, I have you all to myself!" Yuri smiled as she held onto Light's right arm.

Guess again.

"Hey! Light! Yuri! Over here!" I called as I ran over to the bus stop. They both turned and Light waved back, whilst Yuri looked like she was about to punch me. I reached the bus stop and exchanged a smile with Light.

"Hi (Y/n), what are you doing here?"

"Same as you by the the looks of it. I've been working pretty hard lately, so I decided to have a day out. Lucky seeing you guys here, huh!" I laughed. Yuri just stared at the ground.

"Yeah... Nice to see you here." I guess she was kind of upset that this was no longer a date between her and Light. I kind of feel sorry for her, but I care more about saving the life of a man who's going to give his name to Light.

Speaking of Raye Penber, I could see him in the shadows, keeping an eye on Light. He was good, I only knew he was there because this had already happened, Light didn't even know Raye was in that specific place.

"So anyway, do you have an idea of how long this bus'll take to get here?" Light checked his watch.

"It should be here pretty soon, I wouldn't worry about waiting."

"Awesome." We stood and chatted as I watched Raye Penber from the corner of my eye. The Space Land bus finally pulled up and Light and I both gestured for Yuri to get on first, Light followed her and I came on last. They were sat on the left side of the bus, the second seats from the back. Since Raye was going to sit behind them, I might as well join him, besides, if I sat anywhere else, I wouldn't be able to communicate with them once Kiichiro Osoreda hijacks the bus.

I sat behind them at the window seat, but the question was, would Raye sit next to me? I wasn't supposed to be there, so would me simply sitting where someone else would change a lot of things? Either way, this would work to my advantage. I had a plan. I watched Raye as he entered the bus and joined Light and Yuri's conversation.

"I don't get it Light, didn't you say that you weren't going out until the entrance exams were over." I butted in before Light could answer.

"That was before he scored number one on the national practice exams." I grinned, repeating the exact words he was going to say. Yuri turned slightly so she was facing me and Light and smiled. Wow, looked like she didn't completely hate my guts for being a third wheel on her date! Yay for me!

"Did he? Oh Light, you're such a nerd!" She giggled again. That was when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was him.

"Is this seat taken?" He asked. Hm, it could've been easier if he sat in front or next to Light, that way I probably wouldn't have to intervene. Oh well, I can act. I smiled at him.

"There're plenty of other seats, but why not? I don't mind." He sat down and didn't attempt to make any sort of conversation with me, so I leaned forwards so I was closer to Light and Yuri. It seemed like Raye didn't recognise me from when I bumped into him, I was kind of disappointed, did I really not make that good of an impression? I literally ran into him.

The bus seemed to be filled with a peaceful atmosphere, everyone was practically radiating happiness. We chatted amongst ourselves about school and each other, laughing and smiling like there wasn't such a person as Kira who existed. It was just perfect, I guess this broken world could be happy. That was until the bus reached it's next stop, as a man got on the bus with malicious intent.

Everyone was still talking, not even Raye was paying attention to Kiichiro as he pulled the gun out of his jacket. I narrowed my eyes. My time to shine. I screamed as loud as I could and pointed at the man at the front of the bus.

"HE'S GOT A GUN!!" The passengers yelled as Kiichiro pointed the gun at the bus driver's head.

"Stay in your seats unless you wanna die!" He snarled. I sat back in my seat and curled up, whimpering like Yuri. Kiichiro continued to yell.

"Everybody shut up! If anyone moves, I'm puttin' a bullet in their head!" He turned to the bus driver. "All right driver, you listen to me! I know you've got the number for Space Land's office on ya, call 'em!"

"O-ok!" He picked up the phone. "Th-this is Sasaki, calling from bus 174-" Kiichiro interrupted him.

"Tell 'em what's going on, no tricks either!" Sasaki trembled and nodded.

"My bus has been hijacked a-and he's holding a gun to my head!" Kiichiro growled and snatched the phone from Sasaki.

"Gimme that!" He turned the gun on us and yelled into the phone. "You heard what he said! Now you listen up! Have a female staff member bring all of Space Land's cash from yesterday, I know it's there! Have her meet us two bus stops from the park and don't make me wait! If you mess with me at all or try to get the police involved, I swear I'll kill every one of these passengers!" With those words, he threw the phone on the floor of the bus and smashed it.

What could I do to stop this? This was Light's way of finding out Raye's name, but I could use this to reverse that and make it so Light won't have control of Raye, but what the hell could I do? Kiichiro's going to die, that had already been written in the Death Note, no changing that part, but the Light specified nothing about Raye, so anything concerning him could be changed.

Yuri screwed her eyes closed and whimpered, Light tapped her leg and showed her the note he'd written:

Yuri, don't be scared. As soon as he turns around, I'm going to grab the gun out of his hand.

I read it over his shoulder, along with Raye. This was where things will be different. I leaned forwards before Raye could.

"Don't be stupid, that's risky!" I whispered. "Light, you could get hurt, please don't." He began to write another note back, when my current plan was shattered.

"It's okay, you don't have to keep passing notes back and forth, as long as you keep it down, he won't here our voices over the sound of the engine," Raye whispered. Damm it! I tried to say Raye's lines so he wouldn't have to speak and reveal his name to Light! Looks like I'll have to find another way around this. Light crumpled the note he was writing and put that and the pen in his pocket.

"Do you have any proof that you're not his accomplice? Why should we trust you?" He muttered in a low voice. Yuri and I gasped, except my gasp was fake.

"A-accomplice?" She stuttered. Light nodded.

"Yes, I've read about this before. The first hijacker comes in looking alone, meanwhile a second one pretends to be a hostage, stays in the very back in case something goes wrong." He turned slightly, this was new. "That's probably why you sat next to (Y/n) too, if this guy got arrested, you'd have an instant hostage." Oh Light, you shouldn't have said that last part, I know what I can do now. I gasped and pressed myself against the window, faking shock. Light looked at Yuri.

"What's the matter?"

"Do you really think he is one?" Raye began to root through his pockets. This was getting risky, he was moments away from giving away his life. I had to do something, now! Anything! Bring the attention to me, stop Raye, just do something!

"W-what are you trying to do?" I whispered to Raye.

"Just trying to show you that I'm not a hijacker."

"Show me then. If you are a hijacker, then I'm at the most risk. I'm sitting next to you, for gods sake, you think I'm not scared?" He sighed and brought out-

I took the badge and pretended to be shocked by it.

"Here's my proof, take a look."

"F... FBI?" I whispered. After a few seconds, I thrust it back into his hands. "Quick, put it back before that psychopath at the front sees you have something." He nodded and put it back in his pocket. I turned to Yuri and Light. "He's not a hijacker, I saw his proof." Light took a deep breath and nodded. I'd stopped his plan and if he tried to get any more personal information out of Raye, he'd look suspicious. I'd won this battle.

"I trust you." He whispered. "I guess for the time being I won't ask why an FBI agent is on the bus in the first place. Do you have a gun?"

"Yeah, I've got one."

"Well if it comes down to it, I can rely on you, right?"

"Yes." Was all Raye said in reply. The lines were the same but everything was completely different. Suddenly, the elderly woman at the front cried out and Kiichiro turned the gun on her.

"Shut the hell up you old hag! Do you want me to shoot you right now? Look at me when I'm taking to you, Grandma, I said shut up!" He growled. This is where Light should drop a piece of the Death Note to start the chain reaction that'll cause Kiichiro's written death, but Light has no reason to end the hijacking without knowing Raye's name. Looks like I had to make him drop it

"Please just stop this! She didn't do anything wrong! Stop pointing the gun at that innocent woman!" I yelled at him. He turned the gun on me, brilliant.

"What was that?" He walked over and grabbed me by the collar of my shirt, pulling me towards him and putting the barrel of the gun on the side of my head. "You keep your mouth shut, you brat, unless you wanna die!" Oh, it wasn't me who was going to die. He pushed me back into my seat and stepped back, standing on something. The piece of the Death Note.

To get to me, he'd have to either lean over Light or Raye, it was most likely that he'd lean over Light to get to me faster. He did so and as he leaned over, he bumped into Light, making the piece of Death Note, that was already close to the edge of Light's pocket, fall onto the floor. Kiichiro raised his foot and stared at the piece of paper. Light leaned over to try and grab it and Kiichiro pointed the gun at Light, making him freeze.

"Don't moved you little punk! What the hell is that? Huh, smart ass?" He picked up the note and Raye held his breath. "You guys were plannin' something back here, weren't cha?" He opened the note and scoffed "Plans for a date, huh? Stupid kid." He crumpled the paper and threw it at Light, who stuff it back into his pocket.

Kiichiro turned around and began to walk back up the aisle, as the bus went through a tunnel. The bus was darkened and I looked to my right at the shinigami, who was staring at Kiichiro, thoroughly bored. I closed my eyes and smiled. Poor Kiichiro.

The bus pulled out of the tunnel and a loud and certainly anticipated shriek met my ears.

"Who the hell are you?!?"

Dun dun duuun!

It seems like only yesterday that one of my closest friends repeatedly called my stories "Crappy little fanfictions that no one likes" Yeah, it wasn't yesterday...
