Shadow was the Admiral of the secret gang in Sunningburg. It's the second highest rank you could get. It wasn't uncommon to get this rank, but it wasn't common, either. That's not the point, though. This secret gang is made of thieves and former prisoners who weren't ready to give up the life they had before put in jail.

Shadow was a former prisoner. She found about a newly formed gang in Sunningburg, broke out of jail, and went to Sunningburg. I guess you can say she's a wanted woman. And this is the story of how a wanted gang changed not just the city kf Sunningburg but in all of the Blease Republic.

Deep in the sewers of Sunningburg was where the gang's hideout was. No one really ever went in the sewers, so it was the only place the gang could go without getting caught. At this time, it wasn't really a gang, it was just a group of adults who came together due to their interests. Of course there was a leader like figure and an admiral figure, but it wasn't officially a leader or admiral.

"Did you hear about the guy who broke out of jail, then robbed a bank?" A hoarse but clear voice came from a table, usually used for Poker or some other card game like that.

"No, when was this?" Another voice came from the same table.

"Just last night."

"Maybe he'll decide to come join us."

"Hopefully. We're running short on members."

"Jim Nance. 6 foot 2. 32 years old. Former thief of Oleo. Thought to have been retired from being a thief, but appearently not." Shadow said.

"So that's Jim Nance." The first man, Keven, said.

"Never thought I'd hear that name again." The second man, Tim, said.

"What's all the commotion?" Peter, one of our newest members, sluggishly said.

"Jim Nance, he's back to being a thief, here in Sunningburg."

"Jim Nance? Why in the name of the Blease Republic is he back?"

"Don't know, but who cares? It's the best news we've heard since the start of vampire dragons."

"Don't get yourselves worked up." Shadow turned her head to the three men who chatted about Jim Nance.

"Here we go with grumpy Shadow," Tim said.

"I'm assuming you haven't heard the news that Mercery has returned."

"What?!?!" They all said at the same time.

"Exactly my reaction. That's not the bad news though, he's back but stronger and crueler."

"What are we going to do?"

"I don't know but we have to do something."

Shadow and the three men continued chatting when the Mikal, the one who people just call the leader, needed to speak with Shadow. Shadow was then told that she had to go on a mission. A man had told Mikal that 'the shadow must reveal her true potential to provide a portal for power and darkness to escape.'

So Mikal asked what did he mean by 'the shadow' and all the man's response was a glance at a person's shadow when walking by. It then clicked to him that the mysterious man was talking about Shadow. Surely it couldn't have been her, just because her name is Shadow, doesn't mean it is her. She didn't want to believe it, but she had a feeling if she didn't, life wasn't going to be like it was.

"Are you up for the task, Shadow?" Mikal asked.

"I suppose. I mean, what harm could it do?" She replied.

"That's what I like to hear. Good luck, soldier."

Shadow just nodded, turned, and went up a ladder leading to society. Where do I start? Maybe I should go to the library? Shadow thought. Before Shadow could think anything else, she heard a faint voice of a man. It sounded like he said 'Crystal Cave.'

"Crystal Cave, so that's where I'm going to start." Shadow whispered to herself.
