Easter 1996

Through the window,

The sun shines lightly

Over our faces.

Slowly we stretch our limbs

And shake sleep from our heads.

Strange how the dawn has met us,

Calling out its soft glorious cry,

Before we even knew it was there.

We wait and sit and stare

At the sun's upward progression,

When at last it retakes the sky.

Victory is heralded at its sacrifice.

Things which have once been

Are once again,

And now together we sing

Praises to the Son,

The spring of His life,

The renewal of His love,

The awakening of things in us

Which have slept for so long:

Seeing each other for the first time again.
