Martin sat in the living room with a guitar resting on his knee as he strummed the chords to 'Martha My Dear' when Emily walked into the room.
"I love that song." She told him, sitting on the edge of the sofa and watching him play.
When Martin finished he looked up at her and smiled, he had been getting on really well with Emily recently, though it had been a long day at work, his sleeves had been rolled up and the first few buttons of his shirt had been undone.
"I've got something to tell you." She said,
"T..this seems like quite a pivotal moment, you okay?" He laughed, placing his guitar down on the stand.
Emily bit her lip and took out a pregnancy test from behind her back.
"if we have a baby girl d'ya wanna call her Martha?" She asked, giggling.
"O-oh my god is this for real?" Laughed Martin, shocked.
Emily kneeled on the sofa beside him and kissed him on the cheek, "by May-time you'll be a dad."
Martin smiled at her and took her hands, "how many weeks are you?" He asked,
"Eight." She told him,
"Jeez that's like two months ago." He laughed as Emily sat beside him and lifted up her top slightly.
"I was wondering why I was getting so fat!" She giggled,
"And I assume that's why you've been so sick." He added,
"Yep!" She giggled,
"Well that was unexpected! Are you okay, babe?" He asked.
"Did you just call me babe?" Teased Emily,
"No?"
"I think you did!" She flirted,
"I don't think so!" He defended, sliding his hands on her hips and leaning towards her, smiling.
"Oh I think you did, babe!" She giggled before Martin's lips locked with hers. He pushed her down onto her back and he crawled over her, still kissing her juicy lips but having to pull away just to look into her eyes and laugh,
"M-Martha my dear!" She giggled, almost singing along to the song that Martin had been playing.
"Though I spend my days in conversation.." Martin continued, kissing her neck between words before they both sang the next lyric, "please, remember me."

Martin woke up with tears rolling down his cheeks.
At first he didn't know where he was, but then he realised that he was still outside the hospital, he hadn't moved.
The sky was dark now, and he felt dizzily disorientated as he saw the van drive back into the hospital car park.

As they lay in bed, Emily and Martin looked over at each other and smiled,
"Y'know.. all things considered, I can't think of anyone I'd rather have a family with." Emily told him, which almost brought Martin to tears,
"Maybe this 'arranged marriage' wasn't so bad after all." Said Martin, reaching over and stroking her cheek.
"Yeah.. I think I'm beginning to love you a little bit, but it could just be the hormones." Said Emily.
"Na, 'cause I'm beginning to love you too." Whispered Martin, kissing her again and crawling on top of her.
"So when do you reckon was this baby conceived?" Asked Martin as Emily sat on his hips.
"I don't know the exact date, but I'd assume it was that night in August when we got really drunk and watched all those romantic films." Said Emily,
"Oh Yeah. We really were quite dirty then." Laughed Martin, "we're like an actual married couple."

"Martin? Martin what are you doing here?!" Called Zoe.
Martin looked around again, everything was blurry and weird. He wanted to go back to Emily, back where everything was perfect.
"Martin are you drunk?" She asked.
He shook his head, feeling so lost.
Zoe rolled her eyes, lifting one of Martin's arms over her shoulders,
"Come on." She encouraged, placing her arm around his back and lifting him up. "What have you been doing out here for so long?"
"I dunno.." he moaned, trying to keep his eyes open.
"Oh Martin.. What's happened to you?" Sighed Zoë, opening up the sliding door to the van and letting him drop onto the bed at the back.
"Hello sir." Muttered Cloda, who was sitting on her phone on the seat beside him.
Martin closed his eyes immediately, trying to visualise Emily there again, lying in bed beside him, then Zoe sat down on the bed,
"Take your jacket off, Martin." She whispered, trying to turn him into his side.
Martin moaned, rolling onto his stomach.
Zoe slid his jacket off and looked into his pockets, taking out a prescription box of drugs.
"Fluoxetine." She said aloud. "How much of these have you had today?"
Martin buried his face into the pillow, "I dunno.."
"You're only supposed to have two a day.. maximum four.." she sighed, placing the back of her hand on his forehead and feeling how hot it was.
"Right you get some sleep." She whispered, standing up taking her hand away before Martin took it again,
"N-no stay.." he murmured.
Zoe looked down at his shivering hand and his pleading eyes before nodding, "Okay." and lying down beside him. They looked into each other's eyes, Martin's hand crept over to her stomach and began to stroke it, keeping his eyes fixed on hers.
Zoe began to cry silently, knowing that she was a mother, it wasn't that she didn't want a baby, it was that she was scared, scared of people's responses and prejudice. She didn't think she was ready, and she didn't want to have to look after Martin too. She needed him to be well, she needed his support and love.
At last, Martin rolled over and left Zoe lying in tears.
