The drive remained silent but by sensing the rough breaths of the elder, Jungkook can conclude that Taehyung was constantly trying to keep his anger down. He moved his face towards the steering from the window and said, "If you are angry, you can say so. Keeping it inside will make you frustrated."
Taehyung scoffed loudly, "As if my frustrations are anyone's concern. And I'm not angry, a bit disappointed because you didn't even discuss before packing your things. Maybe you felt like you didn't need to because what's there that bound us to answer anyway."
Jungkook bit his lips and turned his head towards the window again, he regretted speaking at all but now that the cat is already out of the bag he won't sit calm without fighting, "I had said that I was about to call you to discuss. Don't push your thoughts to feed irrelevant things to your mind."
"Right. You had already decided to leave so what was there to discuss and then lying on my face about booking a fuçkin hotel? Don't I know which hotels are available at sites this late? Let me tell you, none! We live in remote areas of Gangnam. I wish you luck to find a decent cab at this hour."
Jungkook pressed his fist on his cheek and kept looking outside, "I know it sounds stupid but I would have managed somehow."
"I agree. It does sound stupid." With a long sigh, Taehyung let go of his anger when he found the other side falling completely silent, "If you are going to pull such decisions in future, I must apply security from court. I can't live in this constant fear where you roam around and something happens to you."
"No. I don't want it."
"I didn't want you to leave my place too. But have you listened? No. So we are not over yet."
"Is there any account where you are noting the things that you have over me? I can't seem to pay them off anyway."
Taehyung pulled off the brakes instantly, jerking their bodies outward before falling into seats. Before Jungkook could balance himself on the seat, Taehyung climbed on his lap and held his head in his hands, "What's the purpose of this back talking, Jungkook? And what payment you are talking about! Do you seriously think I'm a nuisance enough to keep account of things?"
The wide sockets of Jungkook's eyes stared back at Taehyung, too shocked to say anything but still shook his head so the other continued, "I didn't impose my decision on you when I said you should stay with me till the case he gets dismissed and you agreed too! Suddenly at such a bad hour, I'm finding you with your bags packed and saying you are leaving! Does it look like a discussion to you?"
Jungkook shook his head again, this time a bit frantically to calm the elder but apparently... he ticked something in Taehyung that he clearly shouldn't have because the other didn't stop, "What happened if he said something about my conspiracy or ideas to reveal his truth, of course he would find me intellectual like this when you lacked the brain cells. Of course he would point at me among us to shred his lie apart."
"Excuse me?"
"No! You are not excused. Just because he said something or doubted me, would you leave my house at night? For what? To protect my non-existent pride? I don't care about him, I don't care about people when they point at me but when it comes to you, It makes me crazy to see you unprotected. Either you call your loved ones to live beside you or you won't get rid of me!! I was serious when I said I won't be going anywhere unless you press a restraining order on me."
Jungkook's wide eyes could only blink in response because his tongue was tied by the hovering male above him. How could he be able to express that his afraid mind is finding peace in the elder's frustration? That each word said by Taehyung was filling a corner of his heart that had been left shredded apart.
"I didn't mean to make you mad."
"I'm not mad." Taehyung closed his eyes as his forehead rested against the younger's.
Jungkook watched the furrowed lines of Taehyung forehead melting as the other took deep breaths, his closed eyes showing how much he was controlling himself, "I talked back because I wanted to listen to your frustrations. It gives me satisfaction that I'm not the only one who is losing his mind over today's happenings."
Taehyung caressed his cheeks and nodded his head against his forehead, "No, you are not alone in this." When he opened his eyes, he found Jungkook looking at him with barely holding his tears at bay. He engulfed his head into his chest and pressed the back of his nape, "You will be out of this in no time but I want you to walk with me... not running in different directions. Because in the end, I will find you anyway."
The short sniffle of the younger hurt Taehyung too but he let his anxiety through his fingers which were constantly caressing the nape, "The studio is under my surveillance and my law firm is two lanes away. You will be safe there."
Jungkook hummed and pulled away when he couldn't feel his legs anymore, "You are...sitting in my lap." He said.
Taehyung wiped his tears and instead of moving away he asked, "And?"
"I can't feel my legs anymore."
Taehyung tsked, his tongue darting out to lick his lower lip, "I'm not that heavy, daddy." He winced the next moment when he felt a punch right into his guts with a warning from the younger, "Move."
The elder rubbed his ribs but didn't budge, "You provoked me to pounce on you, I will think about moving if you ask nicely."
"Are you serious?"
"Do I look like a joker guy?"
"You are behaving like one, I will punch you again if you don't move in the next second."
The warning didn't seem to work because now Taehyung was smiling too brightly, "Do it, let me check how much strength your wrist holds."
The fight started with Jungkook shoving the elder back till Taehyung's back collided against the dashboard but his head was still in the elder's palm that dragged along with him. He swung another punch but Taehyung blocked it too easily and raised a brow to irk the younger more. Next came the slaps, slamming around the car but Taehyung ducked all of them and held the younger by his wrist in one go.
He pushed the younger back on his seat and blocked the wrist with one hand to hold his chin with the other, "Go for the face when you start to fight again and keep your other hand ready for the guts. You must confuse your opponent or no punch will be laid."
"Understood?"
The pressed cheeks made Jungkook's lips puckered outward so he used to reply short, "Yes."
"Yes what?"
"Yes, Hyung."
Taehyung tapped his cheeks once and moved away to settle back into his driving seat, he didn't even cover a hundred meters when his felt a punch on his arm, "If you pulled such shít again I will aim for your face and will punch your face too."
"So wild and still don't want me to call you-"
"Taehyungie hyung!"
"Yes ,yes. I'm so afraid, my legs are shaking and I can't even apply brakes."
Jungkook crossed his arms over his chest and looked out of the window, "You better."
"Have you seen his face today? Mthérfçker looked was about to shít his pants. I even wanted to click a picture and frame it up for my office." Taehyung said while steering away the wheel toy he left.
"I didn't and nor do I want to look at him even if he díes. Please do not ruin my mood by talking about him."
"As daddy wishes."
*Slammed*
~~
Taehyung successfully rolled the car to his studio and when he stepped out, with God's divine grace, he wasn't carrying any blues on his body. He helped a raging Jungkook out after successfully transferring his frustration into the younger. The entire path, they bickered and this time Taehyung didn't hold back and confronted younger's every remark with his wit.
The other looked exhausted so he quietly opened the studio and let him inside. Jungkook stopped at the entrance and looked around, "It didn't look abandoned at all."
"I use it when home feels far away. Don't worry, I will be clearing the space for you to use. Check the water for me, see if the connection still works and... and the heater too, it's so chilly right now. Wait, I'll be checking the heater, you look around and see if it's liveable."
"It's nicer than your home actually."
"Really?"
"Hmm. The space is shorter but it gives healthy vibes like a little cozy home away from chaos."
"Touché. The only reason why I haven't sold it yet."
Jungkook placed his bags on the one armed couch and went to see the room, the space was good enough to live in and even had an attached bathroom. Moreover, It's the cleanest working space he has ever seen. Actually, what do you expect from such a cleaning freak?
Everything was draped in dark brown, increasing the visibility and enhancing the furniture even more. What was there in the form of furniture again? A wooden table, a couch, a wooden door that hides a middle size room holding a bed and one more bathroom, the tiles reflected the shadows of his body through light when he switched them on. Again, this clean freak.
Taehyung removed his coat and opened the first two buttons of his navy blue shirt and folded the sleeves to pull out the heater from the cabinet. He carefully removed the cardboard box and there, he found the coil had gone rusty. He checked the cabinet for a new coil and sighed when he found one. But that's the last piece, he will remind himself to bring them again.
He pulled out his tool kit and spread everything on the floor while taking a seat in between. When Jungkook stepped out of the room, he seemed to have taken a bath and it alarmed Taehyung to no end, "Don't tell me you used cold water."
"Calm your ass. The geyser is working just fine."
Dawning the realisation in his nod, Taehyung moved his attention towards the heater again. After straightening his towel above the dryer, he went to the tiny balcony and flicked his wet hair to remove the dripping moisture.
A few moments passed when the door bell rang that caught Taehyung divided attention once again but before he could hoist himself up from the floor, Jungkook ran back into the living room, "It's me. I have ordered something."
"How did you get the accurate address?"
"You have pasted a chart of important things on your key stand."
Taehyung was impressed with the younger's observation skills and was prepared to see cartons of food entering inside but much to his surprise, Jungkook carried polybags of groceries instead, "You ordered groceries at this hour?"
"Yes, No one is going to serve fresh food anyway and I expected your fridge to be empty which is..." He entered the two stand kitchen and opened the refrigerator, "true except this kimchi container."
"Oh... Mehrin doesn't like the smell of kimchi so I keep it here."
"And what if you are eating food and suddenly crave it?"
"I simply manage to not."
Jungkook bites his tongue down when he finds Taehyung going back to his work, he stops himself from adding a crucial mark. You are managing for two years? Because he did manage something for four years too that took him here but he crushed such bad energy when he took out the limited utensils and dumped the veggies in the washing sink to rinse.
Taehyung changed the coil and stacked the heater in the corner where its adapter was waiting, once connected the light fluctuated for a moment before igniting perfectly. He straightened himself with a smile and looked at Jungkook to announce his other work, "I will be taking out my clothes from closer, you can set yours after."
"There is no need to completely remove them, I'll be using the corner anyway."
"I'll see about them," Taehyung went to the room and opened the closet and started folding his clothes. He deliberately left three of his hoodies and two coats hanging in the corner and packed the rest in a small trolley bag, just to place it in the bed's storage cabinet.
He went inside the washroom and switched on the aspirator, checked the water logs and toiletry storage.
When Taehyung came back to the living room after washing his face and hands, he found the kitchen counter filled with food. The aroma of fried rice was high in the air, with steak and pineapple curry. Jungkook was dragging one of the chairs to the counter when he spotted Taehyung, "Sit."
He said before leaving to pick up the next, "You prepared meals for two? That's a lot."
"It was your stomach that was grumbling like an empty engine in the car."
And how do people deceive a human like this? How they behave so ridiculously when they could just preserve their presence as a precious gem.
Taehyung smiled sheepishly and sat on the chair and let Jungkook serve the portions. They sat across from each other and started their late dinner. Jungkook watched as the elder raised a spoon and dipped his tongue in to check the taste. He smiled at the deep humming when the elder shoved the same spoon in his mouth just to pull it completely clean after, "It's so delicious."
"You have worked hard so you deserve it," Jungkook said while pouring the fresh apple slushes he extracted from the grinder.
They ate the dinner quietly except the hand banging and head clocking of the elder who was enjoying the food to the fullest. The truth was that they hadn't had food in their stomachs since the morning, and the events of the day didn't let them think about the mere necessity of meals.
Taehyung finished the last bit of rice and was about to take responsibility for washing the dishes when his phone rang, "Yes?" He picked it up in the second ring, "What?"
Jungkook saw him walking towards the balcony but he gasped himself in surprise because as soon as he opened the door, the loud torrents of rain filled the living room. Taehyung closed the door securely and barked in the phone, "Not everyone sits on their balcony at 3 a.m, Mr Kang. I don't have my laptop with me right now."
The other seemed to be barking as well because Taehyung was rolling his eyes the hardest Jungkook has ever seen, "Does it carry something confidential or I can open it in another laptop?"
"Yes, okay. No, I will text you through email soon."
Taehyung looked at Jungkook who was already pulling out his laptop and stacking its charger on the couch as well, "Yes, I'm listening, tell me the details right away," He gives a thumbs up to the younger and whispers the words; open your email too.
Jungkook went back to the kitchen once he did that and collected the dishes one by one, the loud noise of keyboard smashing distracted his mind enough to not care about what those mail holds. He tried to think about his pending projects but that just proved to weigh his mind with heavier thoughts.
"No, I'll be sending the annotations soon. Go through it and then prepare the documents. It's good that we got the dates already." Taehyung put his phone on the couch and started to read the document.
Jungkook went to the abandoned chair across the kitchen counter where the elder's coat was lying around. He searched in the pockets and found what he was looking for, "Here, use them."
Taehyung smiled while pointing his eyebrows at the specs that he collected quickly before pushing them high on his nose, " It's raining outside so are you going to stay?"
"No. I'll leave once I complete the annotations. And I'm really sorry about the rain, I mean not about the rain but actually it's the drawback of this studio. It's my working space so I keep it completely soundproof. Unless you don't open the window, you won't know whatever the hell happens outside."
"That's... good. Should I give you some spare clothes or are you going to sit on the couch with the same socks?"
"I have already changed the socks, the former ones are stacked inside the shoes, come on..."
"It's better to ask," Jungkook shrugged before going back to his room only to come out holding his blanket around himself, "Can I sit on the couch and read with you?"
Taehyung scooted to the farthest and tapped the space beside him, eyes still glued to the screen. After covering himself like a little cocoon, Jungkook sat at the other corner of the couch. Taehyung knows the younger one didn't come here to actually read the documents and he proved himself right when he saw Jungkook sneakily using his own phone.
It's a new space, he must be having a hard time falling asleep.
He had barely crossed thirty pages when he heard the soft snores of the younger. His head moved to see Jungkook fully draped in the blanket, head resting on the backrest of the couch, knees pressed to his chest and looking like a tiny bundle.
Somehow the tiredness Taehyung felt in his shoulders melted when he saw the younger one sleeping peacefully. He turned his towards the screen again and clicked on the other, the documents reflected the entire sections of the assets moved under Yeonsu's name from the duration of their engagement to marriage and it was suspiciously larger than normal.
Taehyung annotated them all by their profits and concluded the amount at the end. Even if Jungkook chooses to not take anything in the end, the court should know what they are dealing with and what their decision will leave for Jungkook. He promised himself to dig deeper into it if he has to but he will make sure to provide a secure future to the younger.
Why?
He doesn't fuçkin know.
