Chapter 15: Away From Home

I grabbed my bag, which was placed near my study desk. I stuffed a few packets of biscuits in the bag. I then added my phone and earphones, in addition to a stack of money from my piggy bank.

Hmm...I wondered if I needed anything else. Right! A torchlight with batteries, as the poison was located in the woods. Probably a bottle of mineral water, in case I was thirsty. That should be it.

As I zipped up my bag, I saw a photograph of my mother and I. We were at the carnival then, where we played games and rode on the rides. In the photo, I was holding a cup of ice cream, while my mother was eating popcorn. We were queuing up for the Carousel ride.

Was leaving home and going to commit suicide a good choice? My mother would be upset if she was here. But she wasn't. She's in heaven, and I had to find her.

I immediately stood up, my bag on my back. I turned off the bedroom lights before heading towards the window. I hopped out, standing on the thin ledge. One last look at my bedroom before I go, I told myself. Then, I shut the window.

Swiftly but carefully, I slowly made my way down onto the ground. I then dashed out of the house through the back gate, so that Angelica and my father wouldn't realize.

When I saw the bustling road filled with cars, a smile appeared on my face. I was out, finally. I could finally have freedom for once.

The first thing I thought of was to head to the nearest convenience store and get myself a final treat. The three, big words, Holiday Mart, were written in huge letters at the top. I dashed to the shelves and bought a pack of chips, some sweets and of course, my favourite, Fizzy Cola. My father never allowed me to drink that. I also got a few bars of chocolate, as it lasts quite long.

After I got all I needed, I made my payment before heading out of the store. Now, I had to go to the train station to catch the next train. Walking along the street, I looked around me. The feeling of being an independent young lady, it just felt so good. Although I was only twelve, I had always wanted to do everything by myself. Walking home, buying food, it was mostly just me.

Beep! Beep! My phone started buzzing.

I took my phone out of my pocket. Layla, where are you? Why did you sneak out of the house? You better come back right now or else...

I kept my phone back in my pocket. There was no way that I would be going back home. After all, I had already made a decision. I had to find Mum.

Then, as I looked up, I saw the large words, Agasta Train Station. Finally, after such a long walk. Having to motivation, I sped up and headed towards the train station.

"Young lady, have you bought your train ticket?" the officer asked.

"I came prepared, officer!" I smiled, showing him my ticket.

"You're going to...WoodsAce? That's a 2-hour ride you know, and you're here by yourself?" he muttered.

I quickly snatched back my ticket and hurried off. Squeezing through the crowd, I made my way to the train platform. Train A679... I reminded myself. Then, I spotted it! Yes, train A679!

With much enthusiasm, I hopped on the train. I sped off to a vacant seat at the front of the train and started settling down. The seat was spacious, so there was enough space for my bag and haversack.

I took out a bar of chocolate and started eating. It was already 2 hours after my usual dinner time, and I was starving.

As I ate the chocolate, I looked out of the train window. The train went past my school and my house. This was the final look. However, my school and my house didn't really mean much to me. I was bullied at school and ignored at home. So why should I care?

Then, I looked down at my shoes.

The final journey of life, is here.
