Chapter 14: Thoughts

"Ways...to..." I typed the words in my Google search bar. I wanted to write "commit suicide" at the end, but I didn't dare to. What on earth was I thinking? Why did I want to leave the universe?

But then, a voice in my head reminded me. I had to leave this place. I could not continue to suffer emotionally, all by myself. At school, I was bullied. At home, I was neglected. There was nowhere where I could be happy. I might as well leave.

Even if I left, no one would realize. My father and Angelica would just cry and remain solemn for a few hours and then things would go back to normal. My seat in the classroom would just get taken over by a new student. No one would be sad at all. Instead, they would be happy because a useless person like me left the world. So, why should I live?

I continued typing the rest of my sentence. I clicked "enter" and there it showed a whole list of helplines I could call if I needed help. Useless.

I scrolled and scrolled, searching for different websites. Then, I spotted one. "Injected Poison Makes Someone Die In Less Than A Minute", was written on the article. I clicked on it immediately.

Then, it showed the address of where the poison could be found. It was written that it was somewhere far from the busy city, tucked away in the woods. Moreover, the poison was only for $50! Man, the perfect place and price!

But how could I get there?

I couldn't walk, obviously. It was so far away from my house, which was very close to the bustling city. However, I had the money to take a Taxi or a bus. That would be about an hour's ride, which should be alright for me to withstand.

I grabbed a piece of paper and started writing. I wrote down my way of transport, plus the amount of money needed for the whole ride. In minutes, I was finally done with my plan.

Just then, I heard a knock on the door. I quickly kept the piece of paper in the drawer.

"Layla, dinner's ready. Come down when you want to eat, okay?" Angelica called from the door.

I ignored her. I wanted to stay in my bedroom for as long as I could. I didn't want to see Angelica or my father's face. I just wanted peace.

Seeing that I did not reply, Angelica went downstairs. I locked my bedroom door immediately. I did not want any care, concern or pity from anyone.

"Layla, are you inside? Can you please open the door?" my father bellowed. "We have the keys, you know. We can come in even if you don't open the door."

"Open the door then, since you have the keys, anyway!" I replied, snuggling under my blanket.

"So you are daring me to find the keys, huh? You better open the door now or you'll have no dinner tonight!" he yelled. Man, he seems annoyed.

"I'm not eating dinner, anyway! No one wants that woman's disgusting food!" I shouted angrily.

My father stomped his feet on the ground, and there was silence for a few seconds. Then, I heard Angelica's voice.

"Hey, Layla. It's me. Could you open the door please? I'll give you some popsicles if you come down for dinner!"

"I'm not a kid anymore! I won't fall for your tricks. I don't wish to see any of you." I snapped angrily. "I just want to be alone."

"Okay, fine. I'll give you one hour to be alone. After that, you better open the door!" my father muttered.

One hour? I did not want to see those two demons in one hour's time! I had to do something. Fast. I had to get out of this place and...

Could heaven be hinting to me that this time was for me to escape and finally enter somewhere peaceful?
