chapter 27
Two weeks of being holed up in Victor's giant mansion, and I felt like I was getting cabin fever. The boys did their best to keep me entertained, but it was hard when the list of things I could actually do was short. With a busted head and a psycho obsessed with me, there was a limited amount of activities I could participate in.
By day fifteen, I was mostly unpleasurable to be around, irritable and restless. Anyone could notice that I was unhappy and paranoid, but they weren't sure how to tackle it. I wasn't asking for much, really, just a couple hours out of the house to get some fresh air and pretend like we were normal, even though nothing about our situation was.
"Pookie," Sean's voice drifted to my ears from where I was sprawled out on Victor's balcony, getting some fresh air that I was sorely lacking from being cooped up.
I sat up and smiled, gesturing for him to come join me. He returned the smile, taking a seat beside me and tilting his head back to look at the dark clouds that were forming, indicating that there would be rain later in the day. My eyes fluttered, enjoying the peace and quiet as well as Sean's company.
After a few moments, Sean spoke, "We know that you're on the verge of killing one of us and that you feel really restless lately, and we talked about it. Since nothing has really happened, we thought it might be okay for us to go out to dinner and for you to spend the night at the Taylor Compound. As long as you want to, that is."
I jolted into a sitting position, staring at him, wide eyed, half-expecting him to tell me that he was joking. But he wasn't. He was staring at me, waiting for an answer. A broken squeal tore from my throat, and I threw myself at him, hugging him as tight as I could. He chuckled, wrapping his arms around me and returning the hug.
"You're welcome, pumpkin," he said, pecking my lips quickly before releasing me and allowing me to stand. "We leave in an hour, so be ready, okay?"
I nodded exuberantly, unable to stop smiling. He could have told me to eat his cooking in that moment, and I would have done it because I was so inexplicably happy to get out of the house and spend some time with my boys. Not to mention, I couldn't remember the last time I had saw Uncle, and if I got to spend the night at the Taylor's it meant I got to see him too.
I was practically bouncing up and down from my excitement.
An hour later, I was standing in the driveway, impatiently waiting for Victor, Owen, and Nathan. I almost pounced on Nathan when he exited the door, gripping onto his arm, grinning widely. He burst into laughter at my expression, and pulled me against his side, rubbing my back in an attempt to calm me down.
"You're like a puppy," Victor said as he came outside, smiling and shaking his head me.
"Where are we going to eat? Wait! It doesn't even matter! I'm so happy!" I exclaimed, squirming in Nathan's grip as he tried to keep me still. I flashed back to North's birthday and my smile widened, this moment reminding me of then. I didn't think I would forget either of the memories, and especially not how happy the boys made me in each of them.
"Vic, you can take her," North said, leaning against his Jeep as he observed me with amusement. "She's worse than Luke when he's hopped up on sugar. In fact, you can take Luke too."
Victor rolled his eyes. "Whatever. It'll be my pleasure to take her in my car." He opened the passenger door and gestured for me to get in. "Come on, princess. Let's get going before you drive everyone insane."
The drive was relatively short, though Luke, Gabriel, and Victor had to deal with me bouncing in my seat and questioning where we were going the entire time, so to them it may have seemed longer. I was squirming and pressing my nose against the window, attempting to figure out if I was familiar with the area we were in.
"North was right," Gabriel chuckled, resting a hand on my head to still me. That only worked for a moment before I was right back to squirming and trembling with excitement. "She is worse than you on a sugar high. But at least it's fucking adorable."
"What," Luke sounded offended, though we all knew he was joking. "You don't find me adorable?"
I giggled, glancing back by them briefly to watch as Gabriel smacked Luke in the back of the head and Luke sent me a wink. I turned back around, sitting up on my knees as the car came to a stop. Victor's lips quirked into a smile as he looked over at me.
"Are we here? Are we here? Are we here?" I babbled, bouncing up and down again, my smile so wide it hurt my cheeks.
"Nope," Gabriel teased me, rubbing my shoulders. "We're just stopping for no reason."
Usually I would have had something to say to him in return for that snide comment, but instead I was too busy untangling myself from seatbelt and jumping out of the car. I didn't recognize the restaurant we were at, but I didn't care. I was sure that if the boys had picked it out, then it must have been good.
Kota chuckled at the sight of me. "I see that she hasn't calmed down any on the drive over. How you doing, Sang?"
"Great, more than great actually!" I replied, probably a little too over enthusiastic. He laughed again, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and leading me inside the building. He kept me tight against his body as we waited for the others to join us, probably to keep me from running off by myself. It was probably a good thing he did so, because I was seriously considering exploring on my own.
As soon as the others joined us, I was the one in the front of the group, dragging us along to the first table that was big enough to fit all of us. Kota sat on one side of me and Victor on the other, both of them seeming rather amused by bubbliness. The entire dinner was amazing, and I couldn't have asked for a better group of guys or a better night out.
They had me in stitches the entire time, and if I wasn't laughing, I was smiling so wide I thought my face might split in half. I never wanted the night to end, but it had to, and I knew it did. At least I got to go home with North and Luke, though. Since I spent the night with Luke when I had lost gone over, it had been decided that I would be staying with North for the night.
"Be good for them," Kota said as North lead me to his Jeep, his arm wrapped around my waist.
I grinned looking over my shoulder at him. "When am I ever not good?"
The guys burst into laughter at that, and so did I. There was a reason I had got the nickname Trouble, and I typically lived up to it, though most times it was trouble that was looking for me rather than the opposite way around. Luke ruffled my hair as he walked past me to get into the back of the Jeep, and I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Behave, children," North chastised us, but a smile was on his face as he did so, letting me know that his spirits were high for the first time in awhile as well.
When we arrived at the Taylor Compound, after what must have felt like a very long car ride to North due to me and Luke's good-natured bickering the entire time, I stepped out of the car and gave Luke a tight hug. Since North and I were staying in the trailer, I wouldn't be seeing much of him until the next morning.
"Goodnight," I muttered, my face smushed against his chest. Part of me was reluctant to let go of him, but the other part of me was anticipating some alone time with North, something I hadn't gotten in awhile.
"Goodnight, cupcake," Luke ran his hands down my back, holding me against him tightly. "Have fun with North, and I'll make you some chocolate chip pancakes tomorrow morning, okay?"
I beamed at his words and nodded, taking a step back. He ducked down and pressed a small kiss to my lips. He waved to North then headed for the house, humming to himself, seeming a lot happier now that we weren't forced to remain inside all day. I thought that we were all feeling lighter since we got the chance to go out, even North, who was known for his dark and brooding attitude.
"Ready?" North inquired, looking down at me.
When I nodded, he took my hand and lead me into his trailer that I had only been in a handful of times. It was mostly tidy, which no longer surprising to me after seeing how well kept most of the boys rooms were. Since it wasn't too late, North and I only curled up on his bed, turning the TV on to watch something while we lounged around.
I laid on my side, propping my head up with my hand to look at him. He did the same, both of us studying each other in silence. I reached forward and began to gently trace his features, running my fingers over his jawline and lips. His eyes slid shut, and he leaned into my touch, signalling that he enjoyed it. My lips quirked up and I tilted my head closer until I could brush my lips against his own.
His one hand gripped my hip tightly while the other tangled in my hair, drawing me close enough that he could fully press his lips against mine. The way he kissed me left me breathless, but all of the boys' kisses left me that way. He nibbled at my bottom lip, causing me to gasp and for me to deepen the kiss. He rolled us so that I was laying on my back, and he was on top of me, his hips pressing into my own as he kissed me back just as deep.
The pace of the kiss picked up, and my heart began to race. I hadn't gone very far with any of the boys yet, but something inside me felt as if I was about to go farther. When his hands slid up my shirt, brushing against my bra, he pulled away to look at me, questioning if I wanted to any farther and I nodded.
"Are you sure?" he questioned in a voice that was softer than I was used to hearing from him.
"Yes," I said, swallowing hard. "I'm completely certain."
And I was. The only other thing I had ever been more sure about in my life was my love for them.
