Chapter 15 Stolen Kitten
"Father, have you seen her?"
"Seen, who, my daughter?"
"My pet cat. She is a kitten. Her name is Miss Fussball."
"No, sorry."
Princess Chole frowns. Where on earth did her precious cat go?
"Miss Fussball?" She called out.
No response. She checked the garden, her room, the kitchen, and such.
Still not a sigh of the animal. Strange, she thought the creature could not have gotten too far away. Not without a meal.
Chole poured some food into the dish and added water to the other side. She hoped she found her soon. It sure was quiet around the palace without her.
"Princess, I am so sorry," Marinette said.
"Sorry, whatever for? You have not done anything."
Marinette was silent as she pulled the note out of her pocket. She placed it in Chole's open hand. She felt herself tremble as she turned around. She dared not look. She rather not have to see the disappointed look in her friend's eyes.
She ran off before she heard Chole's response to the dreadful slip of paper.
It bothered her that she had to be the messenger for this.
Chole read the letter. "No!" She screamed.
She knew her tabby had been taken. Who would steal her? Why?
Somehow it made the breakup with Nathaniel worse as the feline had been a gift from him. She sobbed a deep sorrow she did not know she held in until then.
Nathaniel came by the castle. He was sure the whole thing was no coincidence that the king should find out the arsonist was back shortly after the servant girl was sent away. Nor did he think it to be a mistake that happened upon his love in tears. He knew she would be devasted.
The worse thing was he saw the man who robbed her of her happiness.
He ran over to Chole and wrapped his arms around her.
"Shh, Chole, I promise I will get her back."
Chole looked up into the familiar turquoise eyes. "Nath, but Iyou do not want anything to do with me."
"Chol, I love you, and I missed you."
"You do?"
Nathaniel nodded his head. Chole kissed him. She pulled away.
Chole promised to make things right with the servant, Alya. After all, the girl was not jinxed. She was just a misunderstood person. She ran off in search of her.
Nathaniel smiled, proud of his woman. He went and found Miss Fussball. He also bound the hands of the catnapper together. He brought both with him to the kingdom.
He handed the cat to Marinette. "Here, see to it the poor thing, gets fed."
He took the crook before the king. "Sire, this is the man who sneaked in and took away your daughter's precious tabby cat."
