chapter thirty-eight

| THIRTY-EIGHT |
STARSTRUCK

Sookie had found Eric walking alone in the dark. After him momentarily trying to eat her, she told him she'd help him by taking him to Eira.

"Who's that?" he asked as he walked along beside her back to her car. "Is she mine?"

"Yep. All yours."

"Is she pretty? She sounds pretty," he said.

"Oh, yeah. Definitely."

"What about her smile?" he asked as he furrowed his eyebrows. "I-I remember a smile but I don't know who it belongs to."

"Well, she smiles as soon as she sees you..." Sookie said but she paused as Eric interrupted.

He wore a small, excited smile, "She does?"

"Yep so you can be the judge of that then."

"Right. Of course," Eric said as he gave her a grateful look. "Thank you by the way."

Sookie gave him a look with a little amused smile as she nodded. She could not believe the Eric Northman just said thank you.

Eira had gotten home late that night. Then she got a call from Sookie saying she found Eric and he was not himself.

"What do you mean he's not himself?"

"I think it's better if you just see it for yourself," Sookie said. "I'll bring him to you."

So Eira waited out on her porch wondering what exactly happened to her Viking vampire. It wasn't long before her car pulled into her driveway.

          "Well, come on," Sookie said.

Eric stared at Eira who stood on the porch in the distance. She had long white hair and curves that would've took his breath away if he was human. He stared from the inside of the darkened car. His lips parted in surprise as he stared like he was utterly starstruck.

"She's so beautiful, Snookie," he said in awe. "How is she mine?"

"It's Sookie," she corrected once more. "And you can ask her that yourself."

Sookie got out of the car and Eric did as well. He followed behind her towards the porch like a nervous puppy as he periodically glanced from the ground to Eira. It's like he was afraid the gorgeous human was going to reject him.

Once they reached the top of the porch, Eira immediately reached out and caressed his cheek, "What happened? Are you alright?"

"Yes, I am unharmed," he uttered before he grabbed her hand in fascination. "Your hand is so soft. Beautiful hand. Can I hold it?"

"What happened to him?" she looked at Sookie as Eric played with her fingers.

"He doesn't seem to remember anything," Sookie explained. "Like at all."

"Eric," she called before forming a small smile at the fact that at least he was unharmed. "What do you last remember?"

He seemed to still as he stared at her smile in awe before he responded, "That. I remember that. You have it. It belongs to you."

"What?" she asked in confusion.

"He said he had remembered a smile. That was his last memory," Sookie said.

Eric had moved closer to play with the strands of her hair, not paying attention at all to the conversation around him. He was only concerned with the girl in front of him and getting as close to her as possible. He sniffed as he inhaled her scent. She smelt so sweet but her scent mingled with that of another, with the ocean...with his.

"You really are mine," he smiled as he realized before he stared at her neck hungrily. "Why do you smell so sweet?"

"You know this," she said. "And you fed from me last week so you're not hungry."

"I did?" he asked before he moved her hair completely from her neck noticing the scar of a bite mark. "Did I do that?"

"Yes, you did," she said and he smiled proudly.

"Well, he did try to eat me so I think he is hungry," Sookie said.

Eira looked at Eric who kept looking at the vein in her neck before looking away. She held out her wrist to him, "You can drink but when I say stop, you stop."

He nodded as he stared at her sincerely. Then took her wrist hungrily and sunk his fangs into her skin. He let out guttural sound at the taste of her blood as he drank voraciously.

"Eric, stop," she called once she judged that he drank enough. "Eric."

He let go of her wrist with blood dripping down his chin as he stared at her apologetically, "Sorry. Sorry."

He wiped his chin with his hand but it just smeared the blood. She shook her head before grabbing his hand, "Oh, come here."

She pulled him inside the house as Sookie followed. She took him to the kitchen before grabbing a washcloth, wetting it, and then wiping away the blood on his chin while she talked to Sookie.

"Sookie, you have to hide him for me," Eira pleaded.

"What? Why?"

"If Bill finds him like this, he'll say he's unstable. He'll have him killed," Eira explained as she finished getting the blood off. "You have to hide him at your house just until Bill has this place searched."

Sookie stared at her in disbelief before huffing, "Jesus. Fine."

"Thank you," Eira smiled.

Eira turned her head to Eric who looked a bit disappointed as he frowned, "I have to go? I don't want to leave you. I only just found you."

"Only for a couple of days at most. You be nice to Sookie," she said. "And don't leave her house because I love you and I don't want anything to happen to you, alright?"

He nodded obediently as he stared into her green eyes and he smiled in a daze, "Your eyes are so pretty."

"Thank you," she smiled as she started to shuffle him back towards the door. "Now, come on. Let's go with Sookie."

Once Eric was back in the car and they were driving away, he leaned his head against the window. He looked like a pouting puppy before he smiled a bit, "She said she loves me, Snookie. She loves me. Am-Am I the only one she's ever loved?"

His eyes glanced at her, fearful of the answer. It didn't make any sense for someone so beautiful to have only loved him.

"Yeah," Sookie answered. "You're basically her first everything and she definitely plans for you to be the last, too."

Eric looked out the window again but she heard him mutter under his breath a bit victoriously, the only one. Sookie couldn't help but smile as she realized the vampire was completely in love with the girl at first sight; no, completely in love again.
