Chapter 2: Darkness
(Congratulations to Ashleyflame12 who is the winner of the cover contest. This chapter is dedicated to you.)
Nine hours until dawn...
The winding path up to the lodge was pretty small, just wide enough for two people to walk shoulder to shoulder next to each other.
Ty and Jason had walked up half way until they came across Ian waiting for them.
"Hey guys. Took you long enough" he said with a smile. Similar to everyone else, beside Jerome and Quentin, Ian was also dressed to fight off the cold. He wore a dark blue, long sleeved shirt and black jeans with matching black boots. He was still wearing his black sunglasses like Adam and he also wore a black parka.
Deciding to all walk up together, they began to exchange in a little small talk.
"God... I feel like this mountain gets a little bigger every time we have to climb it..." Jason muttered out loud as they walked.
"Really? Feels no different to me." Ian said with a shrug.
"Yeah, well you probably had to get the place ready for us. Right?" Ty asked with a smirk.
Ian rolled his eyes "Whatever."
"Damm..." Jason complained, checking his phone "When are they gonna install some cell towers up here? I can't take a few hours without Internet, let alone a week."
Ian laughed "I'm sure you'll managed Jason."
"Yeah, and if you get that desperate, you could always just buy the mountain and install them yourself." Ty teased.
"Maybe I will." Jason joked back.
"Let me know when you get a million dollars then." Ian said with a smirk.
As they came up to the lodge, the three boys smiled to see Mitch, Jerome and Quentin all waiting by the front of the lodge. Jerome and Mitch were sitting on the stairs while Quentin stood leaning on one of the large stone supporters of the front door.
"Hey guys." Ian smiled "You get up here ok?" He asked them with concern.
Quentin rolled his eyes "Apart from the jump scare by these two idiots, yes." He said, pointing down at Mitch and Jerome, who simply laughed and high fived each other.
"Let me just unlock the door for us..." Ian said, walking past the three of them and pulling out a set of keys. He reached the door and began to fumble for the right key and work on the lock.
After a moment, Ian groaned out loud "Oh you've got to be kidding me!"
"Let me guess, the lock's iced?" Ty asked.
"What else would it be?" Ian sighed as he kept trying to work with the lock.
"Is there another way in?" Quentin asked.
"You guys have been here before, there's tons of ways in..." Ian said as he stood up and looked at the others "They're just all locked..."
"Well... There's gotta be something..." Jason began "Like, a window around the corner we could... I don't know... Get open or something?"
"Wait a minute... Are suggesting we break into the lodge?" Ian asked looking at the door for a moment.
"Uhh... We if we're technically allowed into the lodge, it's not necessarily breaking in is it?"
Ian laughed "Well ok then, lead the way then. Are you guys ok waiting here for a bit?" Ian asked the others.
Jerome shrugged "Eh. I'm cool with that."
"But be quick." Mitch added "It's freezing out here!"
Quentin and Ty simply smiled and nodded as the two boys walked down the stairs and walked around the corner.
"You doing alright Ian?" Jason asked, looking at him as they walked.
Ian shrugged "Yeah, I guess. I'll admit it's weird being back here... But I'm glad we're doing this all the same."
Jason nodded "Yeah... I guess..."
"What is it?" Ian asked with a slight frown.
"Well... I guess I'm just a bit unsettled... And I still feel ba-"
"Hey." Ian said, putting a hand on his shoulder "What happened, happened. We were asleep when it happened anyway. We couldn't have done anything. Let's just... Try to not think about it, alright?" He asked with a smile.
Jason smiled back slightly and nodded "Right... Ok..."
"Ada boy." Ian joked, punching his arm playfully as they came to the side of the lodge, which had two large, rectangular windows just out of arms reach and a large metal storage chest to the right of the furthest window. One thing that did attract Jason's attention was the was axe holder on the wall that notably was missing said item.
"So what's the plan?" Ian asked
"Plan?"
"Hey, your idea, you're plan. You're the space commander here." Ian teased.
Jason just rolled his eyes in reply "Shut up Ian." He said, surveying the area.
After a moments thought, he walked over to the metal box saying. "Help me push this."
Ian smiled as he realised Jason's plan and stood next to him to push "Smart thinking..."
The two steadied their hands on the side of the box and Ian took a deep breath "Ok... One. Two. Three!"
Together, the two grunted while they pushed the metal box closer to the window so that it lined up with the window, allowing Jason to climb up onto it force the window open with a grunt.
Jason carefully leaned through the opening and yelped as he lost balance and fell through, hitting the floor with a bang and a groan "I'm ok..."
"You sure?"
"Yeah... Just think my back's gonna hurt for a while." He sighed, standing up at pulling the chain on the ceiling to turn the lightbulb on.
Unfortunately, as soon as the bulb lit up, it blew. The glass shattered it a tiny explosion of light which quickly died out and returned the room to total darkness.
Jason yelped and backed up from the light, thankful his suit kept the glass from hurting him.
"Yikes... You alright Jason?" Ian asked with worry, climbing up on the storage box and looking down at Jason through the open window.
"Yeah... I'm good. Just startled me is all..." Jason muttered, trying to look through the darkness, even lifting his visor in hopes of seeing better. Though it didn't work. "Jeez it's dark in here,"
"Uh... Wait. I got something that might help." Ian said, reaching into his coat pocket and pulling out a lighter, tossing it to Jason who caught it and flicked it open.
Instantly, the darkness receded slightly to let Jason see he seemed to be in a small workshop area. Hardware tools, shelves, timber and a large amount of art supplies were scattered around the place.
"Oh Jason, I've got an idea." Ian said with a smile "Ok, I'm pretty sure that there's a can of deodorant in the bathroom. We could use that with the lighter."
Jason frowned for a moment before smiling and nodding "Oh, I get it, like a flamethrower..."
"Yeah. Ok, I need to go sort something out quickly. You alright with looking around alone for a bit?" Ian asked.
"Well... No, but I can do it..." Jason said with a shrug, pulling his visor down.
"Great. Good luck!" Then he was gone.
Jason sighed and began to explore the place, finding a small door that lead to what looked to him like a walk in storage cupboard. The spaceman didn't find anything particularly useful, however he did frown when he came across an old burnt up newspaper fragment.
He took the fragment and read what was left of the article to himself.
'9th June 1997 - The Daily Bugle
Ex-Janitor Convicted For Arson
Swears revenge on Director's family
By Kyle Comics - Chief Reporter
Martin Bodil, 38, was yesterday sentenced to 16 years in prison for aggravated arson committed on Minewood Pines. Bodil was employed as the janitor of the mountain's old hotel for 15 years. However, when Hollywood Director Cedric Solace acquired the property, Bodil was fired.
In a sensational twist, the sentencing ended with an enraged Bodil screaming obscenities at Solace's heavily pregnant wife, Cassandra. Calling her a f------ whore, he vowed to 'get all of you, your f------ husband and kids', and said that he would make them suffer. Cassandra had visibly struggled to maintain her composure throughout the case, and later claimed that though she was upset by Bodil's threats, she had full faith in the legal system to keep her and her family safe.'
The rest of the article was burnt away so Jason could only shrug and put the newspaper down, he highly doubted it would be of any use tonight and why would he? The events had occurred over a decade ago, there couldn't be any ex convicts swearing revenge on the mountain after all these years. Could there?
Seeing nothing else of use in the workshop, Jason walked the stairs to find a small door leading out into the main foyer.

"Ok, bathroom..." Jason muttered to himself, trying to ignore the creepy atmosphere of the room. He walked up the stairs and to the first floor. As he search through the rooms to find the bathroom, he passed many paintings, bookshelves and many little decorations to make the massive loge look so much more appealing to others.
Eventually, he came across the bathroom and smiled as he walked inside looking around and spotting a cabinet under the sink. Jason knelt down, put the lighter away in his pocket and opened the cabinet, spotting a large white can of deodorant and reaching out grab it.
As soon as he hand closed around the can, something inside the cabinet snarled and lashed out at Jason. Jason promptly shrieked and fell back as the creature raced past him and disappeared into the darkness of the lodge.
Jason took deep breaths as his racing heartbeat slowed down, he knew whatever scared him was an animal, though he didn't know what. All he saw was greyish fur and red eyes. Freaky.
Once Jason could breath easy he stood up and sighed, walking back down to the front door and flicking on the lighter, using it and the deodorant on the frozen lock.
After a moment, the others waiting outside smiled as the door opened "There we go!" Jason smiled.
The others got up to enter but promptly moved as the same creature that had scared Jason before ran out between Jason legs and out the door into the woods, Jason giving another shriek and causing the others to laugh.
"Jeez that thing scared the crap outta me!" Jason shuddered as the other came in with a laugh.
Mitch laughed and put an arm around Jason steering him inside "It was just a cute little baby wolverine." He chuckled
"Ok, the words cute and wolverine do not go together..." Jason protested, earning a laugh from Ian, who seemed to have returned from his errand.
"It's ok Jason. One day you'll be brave." He teased.
-------
The group smiled as they entered the main foyer of the lodge.
"Here we are." Ian said with a grin.
"Finally! It's freezing out there!" Mitch shivered as they set their bags down on the floor by the door for the moment.
"Still pretty cold in here too." Ty muttered, sitting down on the stairs leading up to the first floor and rubbing his hands together briskly.
"I'll get a fire going." Ian smiled "Quentin would you mind giving me a hand?"
Quentin shrugged and went over to him "Sure." He said, taking a few logs from beside the fireplace and helping Ian load them in.
Mitch and Jerome just sat down on one of the lounges as did Jason on one of the others.
It was quiet for a moment aside from the sound of the fire starting, until footsteps could be heard as Adam and Tyler walked into the room with grins in their faces.
"Hey guys." Adam smiled, setting his bag with the others as did Tyler.
"Took you long enough." Jason teased with a grin
Tyler smirked and rolled his eyes "We got held up."
"By what?" Jerome asked.
"Skytato?" Ty asked with a teasing grin.
Adam and Tyler both looked at Ty and almost in unison said "Fuck off Ty." Earning. A laugh from everyone except Mitch, who just rolled his eyes.
"What's wrong Mitch?" Jerome asked.
"Oh nothing, I just want to see how long this lasts." He scoffed
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Adam demanded with a glare.
"Oh you know exactly what I mean." Mitch said standing up despite Jerome's protests "The second things started going south last year you turned you back on everyone. On the team."
"I left because I didn't want to be part of something that brought us so much grief." Adam retorted, tensions in the room slowly rising.
"That wasn't necessary though. After you did, everyone decided to!"
"Seto and Brice are missing Mitch! Probably dead because of it!"
"And whose fault is that?"
Adam blinked in shock at before his eyes hardened "Listen here Mitch. I'm not the one who suggested the prank!" He growled, taking a step towards the Canadian.
"I'm not the one who agreed to go through with it either." Mitch snapped back in an equally harsh tone. Both boys looked ready to kill each other.
"Hey! Guys! Just stop!" Ian yelled, standing up and breaking the tension in the room, much to everyone else's relief "This isn't why we came up here! Look, we came to have a good time, not rip each other's throats out over some stupid blame game. Ok?"
After a moment of heated glaring between the two, Mitch scoffed and walked off "Whatever."
"Oh yeah, real mature." Adam snapped, turning away.
"Ok... I think you two need to cool off..." Ian sighed "Adam, there's a guest cabin just down the trail from the lodge. I think I told you about it before. How about you and a friend go check it out for the night?"
Adam sighed and threw his hands up in surrender "Fine... Ty?"
"Sorry dude, I'm cold and need a bath, plus, this place has a jacuzzi. Unless the guest cabin has one, I'm not going anywhere." Ty said with a smirk and a shrug.
"It doesn't." Ian answered, shaking his head.
"Well there's my answer. He said with a shrug, promptly turning and walking upstairs to the bathroom with his backpack.
"But Skylox..." Adam teased, to which Ty simply gave him the finger with out looking back.
"Well ok then, Tyler?" Adam asked, looking at him "You mind?"
Tyler just sighed "Alright. Fine."
"Thank you." Adam sighed as the two walked out through the doorway.
Ian sighed and went back to the fireplace to make sure it was going strongly.
Mitch just rolled his eyes and went over to get his bag but frowned when he picked it up, his eyes widening and smacking his forehead "Goddammit! I'm an idiot!"
"Mitch?" Quentin asked with a frown and going over to him "Something wrong?"
"I think I left Katniss back at the cable cart station!" Mitch groaned, referring to his bow "I was gonna do some hunting up here with Jerome!"
"Hey, take it easy, let's just head back and get your bow. Ok?" Quentin suggested with a slight smile.
Mitch thought for a moment and looked at him "You sure?" He asked
Quentin nodded "Yeah, the others will be fine. What's the worse that could happen?"
Mitch chuckled and nodded "Alright. We'll be back in a sec guys!" Mitch called out to the others, waving to Jerome before the two walked out the front door. Quentin quickly grabbing a large flashlight on the way out. Just in case...
--------
Adam sighed and opened the door to the porch, shivering at the sudden cold wind. "Sorry to drag you out into this Tyler."
Tyler just shrugged "Eh, it's fine. I'll be honest. I thought you two were gonna kill each other right then and there."
Adam scoffed and rolled his eyes as he shut the door "He's an asshole but I wouldn't kill him over it. It just pisses me off about his attitude to the situation." He admitted.
"Everyone has their own way of dealing with grief dude."
"Well his way sucks..."
Tyler laughed "That's one way of putting it... So how far always the cabin?"
Adam pointed up along the side trail "It's just along the trail... It's not far."
"Then let's be quick, I like not being a Tylersicle."
The two laughed at that until the door opened behind them and Ian stepped out with a smile "Hey guys. Sorry to kick you out like that."
"It's fine Ian, it's not your fault." Adam smiled
Well, your gonna need these." He advised, handing Adam the key for the cabin and a flashlight "Oh, and you'll also need to fire up the generator along the path as well. It's getting dark out there."
Adam nodded "Got it. See you tomorrow then."
"Indeed." Ian smiled "Don't get lost."
"We aren't kids Ian, we'll be fine." Tyler teased as the two walked down the stairs and Ian went inside.
When they reached the bottom, they calmly just began to walk along the path. Making small talk along the way until they came up to the small brick wall with and electric gate.
Adam went up to the gate and tried to press the button to open the door but it didn't change. "Hmm... Guess we need to get the generator going..."
"Hey genius." Tyler called from a few meters behind "Over here." He said, pointing down a small side path the lead to a small old worded shack where the generator could be seen inside.
Adam chuckled "Right." He said as the two walked down the path.
Once inside the shack, Tyler bent down and opened to hatch on the generator smirking as he flipped the switch "Let there be light."
As soon as he flicked the switch, the generator began to hum as lights all around the mountain flickered to life, brightening up their path.
"Nice one." Adam smiled from outside the shack, heading back to the gate. Tyler just smiled and nodded, following after him, completely unaware of the shadowy figure watching them from the window behind them.
Adam reached the gate and tried the lock again "There we go." He grinned as the door swung open this time.
"About time." Tyler smiled as they continued along the path after shutting the gate behind them.
The two continued to walk along the path at an easy pace, Tyler even pulling out his phone and loudly playing music to keep their moods up.
"How the hell does your phone still have charge?" Adam laughed as they walked over a small hill.
"Simple." Tyler teased "Magiiic..." His voice went quite as they stopped at a large tree beside the path, which was wrapped in yellow and black tape.
"Police tape?" Tyler muttered, staring at the tree.
"From Seto and Brice..." Adam said quietly, the guilt from last year staring to build up again in his chest again.
"... You'd think they'd clean it up..." Tyler murmured after a moment, his happy attitude gone.
"Well..." Adam began, scratching his head "They never did close the investigation..." He sighed, thinking back to the night. That same question burning in the back of his head. What really happened to them?
Tyler shuddered "Ok, now I'm getting the creeps..." He muttered.
Adam was quiet for a moment before sighing "It's all just a blur... It happened so quickly..."
"Yeah... We pull one dumb half baked prank and now they're gone..." Tyler said sadly, bitterness and guilt in his voice.
Adam looked up at Tyler and bit his lip, wanting to make his friend feel better. "Well... Hey, it's not our fault they ran into the woods..." He said, though he didn't really believe himself there.
Tyler rubbed his eyes from under his glasses and turned away "Yeah, who could've expected them to do a dumb thing like that?" He muttered as he continued to walk ahead, Adam sighing and following close behind.
After a while, they stopped again. Looking around as a loud 'Skccccceeaaach!' Could be heard echoing through the forest.
"What the hell was that?" Tyler asked with a nervous frown, looking around.
Adam frowned and shook his head "I have no idea... Let's just keep going..."
"Right..."
As the two continued on their way they had to halt yet again. A large tree seemed to have fallen over the trail, blocking it.
"Uh... I don't think we can climb over this..." Adam muttered, looking up at the tree.
"Hey, there's gotta be some way around..." Tyler smiled, walked beside the tree near the hillside and pushing through the bushes until a large board in front of Tyler snapped and he fell forward into a large hole with a shriek "FUCK!!"
"Tyler?!" Adam cried out in shock, rushing over to the edge and looking over, shining his flashlight down. "Tyler?! You ok?!"
Tyler could been standing up and panting a few meters down, "Whew. I'm ok!"
"Are you sure?!" Adam asked, concerned for his friend.
"Well I can still see straight so we're good." Tyler called up "Not that it helps much, I can barely see a thing down here..."
"Hang on, I'm coming down!" Adam yelled, sitting on the edge and pushing himself down, once agin unaware of the shadowy figure stalking up close to him.
When Adam hit the ground he stood straight and shined his flashlight around the area with a frown.
"Where are we?" Tyler asked, bewildered.
"I think we're in some old abandoned mineshaft..." Adam said, noting the mine carts and old iron picks in the area.
"They have mine shafts here?"
"Looks like it..." Adam said as the two walked forward following the tracks to where they hoped would be a way out.
They came across a small wooden area that was most likely a break area for the miners and had a look around "Hey, check this out." Tyler noted, holding up a cigar stub he found on one of the barrels small trails of smoke could still be seen coming off it. "It's recent."
"Who the hell would be smoking cigars down here?" Adam asked looking around and pausing at the end wall "Woah..."
The wall was decorated in mystic symbols with strange images and old candles "What the hell is this?" Tyler asked in shock.
Adam gently put a hand on the wood and ran a hand along the symbols "It's looks like some sort of shrine... I mean these symbols look Native American but I'm just guessing there..."
"A shrine? A shrine of what?" Tyler asked with a frown, getting worried.
"I... Don't know..." He muttered, yelping and jumping back as part of the wood from the ceiling broke away and landed in front of him "I really don't think this place is up to code..."
"No shit Sherlock." Tyler muttered "Let's get out of here..."
Adam nodded as they continued to walk. He paused at one point to look at an old map of the mines, it had in bold red letters 'DANGER' and all the areas not meant to be explored in red which was almost the entire map.
"Shit..." Adam muttered under his breath before quickly catching up to Tyler. Now he really wanted to leave.
Thankfully, heaven seemed to be smiling on them as they made it outside without any more problems after that.
"Finally!" Tyler sighed with relief "Fresh air at last!"
Adam chuckled and nodded "Can't say I miss the snow though." He said as they came to a set of stairs up a hill with a sign pointing to to saying 'Cabin'.
When they reached the top the path slightly separated to a look out porch, where a clear view of the cabin could be seen. It looked simple, but cosy. Of course they still had quite a way to go before they were there.
"Jeez, when Ian said just along the trail, I don't think it'd be this far..." Tyler muttered going to look out over the area from the porch.
"Yeah... But hey, we're almost there so no worries right?" Adam asked smiling slightly as he looked down at some of the signs describing the plant life and ecosystems of the area.
Tyler scoffed and rolled his eyes, with a smile, seeing one of those tourist telescopes and looking down at the cabin through it. "At least the view here is c..." He stopped and took his face away from the telescope with a frown "What the?" He asked, checking again.
"What is it?" Adam asked, looking at him confused.
"Erm... I just saw something at the cabin..." Tyler said looking at him and taking a step away from the telescope to let the other look.
Adam frowned and looked through surveying the cabin and zooming in, not finding anything out of the ordinary. He took his eyes away from the glass and looked at Tyler, oblivious to the bright purple eyes and distorted black face that now looked back through them. "I don't see anything different..." He said with a shrug. "You're probably just a bit freaked out from the mine..."
Tyler gave a small laugh that he didn't really mean "I guess..." He muttered, hoping that was the case.
Adam shrugged and looked back at some of the signs "We should, be careful around this area though..." He said, pointing to the pictures of the dangerous animals that roamed the mountain. This consisted of grizzly bears, grey wolves and stags.
"Yes Adam." Tyler said with an eye roll "Because I definitely want go hug a bear or something."
"Look. All I'm saying is that we should be careful. Ok?" Adam asked with a slight smile.
"Yes mom." Tyler teased as they continued on down the stairs on the other side.
They kept walking, the mood slowly lifting up again as the two joked around, laughing at lone point when Adam got scared by a bird on the way.
The path was getting a little dense from plants and rocks as they walk until another large tree seemed to be in their way, not as tall as the previous one, but still very large. "Jeez Ian. I'd like to think he checked the path before sending us up here..." Adam muttered, looking up at the tree.
"Hey come on. This isn't that bad. See?" Tyler asked with a laugh going up to the tree side and quickly scaling it until he was standing on top with a triumphant grin.
Adam laughed "Since when did you become an athlete?" He teased.
"I've always been one! You've just been ignorant to my amazing skills." Tyler joked, bending down and forming a snowball from the snow on the trunk. "Hey Adam? You got something on your face!" He laughed, throwing it at his friend's face.
Adam yelped and stumbled back before chuckling and bending down, forming his own snowball and saying "Alright. If that's how you want to play..." He said standing up and preparing the throw but faltering.
Tyler was no longer on top of the tree, frankly, it didn't look like he was anywhere to be found.
Adam frowned and dropped the snowball, going up the the trunk and calling out "Tyler?" No answer. "Tyler?" He called again.
Then he heard him, but not the way he had wanted to. It was a high pitched scream instead. "AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!"
This made Adam go pale with worry "TYLER?!"
----------
Ty sighed as he ran his hand under the running water of the jacuzzi tap for the fifth time in ten minutes. The water still hadn't changed temperature from near freezing and Ty certainly wasn't going have a bath in ice water.
Ty eventually sighed and turned the water off, letting it drain out. Maybe one of the others knew how to heat the water up. He went to the door to leave but pause for a second with a frown. He swore for a moment there he heard... Screaming... And whatever it was did not sound human...
Ty sighed and shook it off, walking out and down the large staircase to the foyer. He was probably just turned and imagining things.
When he got downstairs he could only see Jason and Ian, who were both by the fire. "Where is everyone?" Ty asked.
"Mitch and Quentin went back to the cable car station to get Mitch's bow." Ian said, standing up and looking at him "Adam and Tyler are at the cabin and I think Jerome's just looking around. Weren't you having a bath?"
"Uhh, I was. But the water's freezing..."
"Ah, the boiler must be stuffing up. Mind helping me with that?" Ian asked, grabbing a flashlight off the table.
Ty just shrugged and nodded "Alright."
"I'm gonna go look for Jerome." Jason said, standing up "He's been gone for a while now..."
"Have fun." Ty teased following Ian around the main staircase to show another set leading down to a small sitting room with another door leading to the cinema room. It still amazed Ty how large the lodge really was.
Ian walked through the door to the cinema room and turned left, revelling another small door leading down to the basement. He opened the door and waited for Ty "Ladies first." He joked.
"Oh ha ha..." Ty said sarcastically, punching him in the arm playfully and walking down the stairs.
The basement was pretty big, almost as large as the main foyer minus the height. Lots of shelves were everywhere including two hallways, one leading out of sight around a corner and another leading to an old wooden door.
Ian enter and made a small U-turn behind a shelf to show a large boiler with a control panel next to it.
"Here, hold this still while I check this out." Ian said, giving Ty the flashlight and opening the control panel inside.
Ty obliged and held the light as still as he could while Ian fiddled around.
"Ok, I need you to go by the valve over there, turn it, and when the light goes green, smash the button next to it." Ian said.
Ty nodded and put the torch down with the light shinning up.
"Ok go!" Ian said, pulling a switch inside the control panel.
Ty nodded and turned the valve a few times with a rusty squeak, placing his hand over the button and slamming it down the second the light turned green.
The boiler began to hum as it began to work again, a small amount of steam coming out the top for a moment before stopping.
"Ok that should do it." Ian said with a smile, giving Ty a high five with a laugh.
Ty grinned and nodded "Good let's just get..." He stopped as the two looked around with a frown, something had just been knocked over and a steady thumping noise could be heard down the hidden corridor. "That's sound... Unusually regular..." Ty noted.
Ian shook his head "I've been down here a few times before. There's nothing regular about it..."
Ty blinked and picked the flashlight up off the ground "We better check it out then..." He said determinedly, starting to slowly walk towards the noise with Ian close behind.
They reached the corner and cried out in horror as a large hooded figure domed in what looked like a large brown monk costume and a hockey mask jumped out from around the corner.
Ian and immediately turned on their heels and ran back up the stairs, Ty pulling a small shelf down in front of the person to slow him down as he chased them.
The two made it to the stars and quickly climbed them to get back to the cinema room but Ty swore as the door refused to open "Dammit! Why are all these goddamm doors locked?!"
Ian scrambled back next to Ty with wide eyes and managed to say "T- To keep out strangers!"
The hooded figure came up the top of the steps and looked threateningly at the two before dropping the scary pose and saying "Hey."
Ty and Ian looked up and frowned in confusion at that as the monk pulled the mask off, revealing the culprit to be Jerome.
"Jerome?!" Ty yelled slight anger in his tone, but also relief "What the hell?! Why would you do that?!"
Jerome laughed "There's all this old movie crap down there. I saw an opportunity, I took it." He said with a grin.
Ian couldn't help but chuckle as well "Ok, I won't deny, that was a good one." He said, getting up off the wall and smacking Jerome's arm playfully while they both laughed.
Ty sighed and shook his head "You're as bad as each other..." He said, stepping aside to allow Jerome to unlock the door.
"Why thank you, I try." Jerome chuckled as the three of them walked up the stairs and back to the main room.
Jason was just sitting on one of the lounges on his phone, he looked up and frowned, seeing Jerome still in the monks robe "What on earth are you wearing?"
Jerome made a serious face and posed like a monk, making some religious hand gesture and bowing "I have found my true calling..."
"Well, isn't that a plot twist." Jason said sarcastically while rolling his eyes "The hunter became a pacifist. Didn't see that one coming..."
The other three, including Ty, laughed at that.
"Oh and guess what else I found while looking around?" Jerome said, pulling out a wood bored and a palette. "Check it out!"
"Is that a... Spirit board?" Jason asked with a frown
Jerome nodded "I found it in the basement. Let's give it a shot!"
"Oh no. I've had enough scaring for one night." Ty said, rolling his eyes and walking towards the stair leading up "All I want right now is a warm bath."
"Eh, I'm up for it." Ian said with a shrug.
"I see nothing wrong with it, so sure..." Jason smiled.
"Yes!" Jerome cheered with a laugh "You sure you don't want to join in Ty?"
"No thank you. I want no part in summoning spirits. So have fun getting possessed or some shit. Cause I'm out." He said walking up the stairs, into the bathroom and shutting the door.
"So shall we do this?" Ian asked while Jerome grinned.
"Prepare the candles!"
