Chapter 10

It was a dark and stormy night, and the only sound that could be heard was the thump and distant beats of a high school party.
Well, that and the sudden screams echoing throughout the streets.

Four intoxicated teenage girls came running across the street, fear in their eyes.
Despite the many drugs they had taken, these girls were still sane enough to realise that they were in danger, and that danger was heading straight for them.

They clumsily turned the corner, not realizing that they had just entered a one-way street.
Skidding to a halt, the four friends suddenly swiveled back round, straight into the path of the incoming danger.

The figure grew closer. The girls flinched away from its path, their backs up against the wall. They looked to one another in desperation. "Goodbye my friends! I guess this is the end!" They exclaimed, as dramatic as usual. They had all accepted their death. They knew that there was no escape this time. Could this be it for the four young girls? Was the killer about to strike again?

Before we answer those questions, we should first rewind the clock and find out exactly how our main characters found their way in such a sticky situation.

This whole tragedy started precisely at 9:17 pm on a Friday night when four girls decided to crash a party.

It was a big moment for them, not only had they snuck out of their homes, but they were also about to crash a party! They really were starting to turn into bad girls, or maybe they already were...

They all took a step inside the house, there was no going back now. The loudness of the music and the warmth of too many people overwhelmed them. There were teenagers everywhere: some were making out, some were eating all the food and some were dancing like there was no tomorrow.

The air was full of laughter and fun even though there were some people passed out on the floor... Ignoring that, the girls continued to look around, they didn't say anything to each other, maybe it was because they were too speechless to utter a word, or maybe just because it was too loud to hear anything.

"I can't believe we are actually here" Abir whispered to Alice, but Alice ignored her and rushed to the dance floor. This was her moment to shine! This was the moment Alice would prove to everyone she's got the moves.

So she danced, even though she looked like a chicken jumping around, but this was a good excuse for Mahnoor and Oliwia to get their phones out and start videoing her and posting it on Snapchat.

"MONSTER HOW SHOULD I FEEL CREATURES LIE HERE!!!"

"Her singing is worse than her dancing" Oliwia pointed out.

"This is so going on my Snapchat story" Mahnoor laughed.

"Hey! It's a party have some fun!" Alice demanded. So Abir joined her on the dance floor and started dancing, forgetting all of her worries . Soon the remaining two joined in the dancing as well even though it was not as exaggerated as Alice's.

It was a great moment for them, they were all actually enjoying themselves. In this party no one seemed to recognise them so they didn't get any dirty looks and bad words thrown at them. There were no judging eyes in this place; in fact some were even enjoying Alice's bad dancing and singing, it was free entertainment after all!

They were almost starting to forget what their lives had turned into since the murder. They would like to think they were just some normal teenage girls who were hanging out and having fun together, not some girls who were accused of murder.

But this happy moment didn't last long because Abir gasped loudly as all the colour from her face was drained, she had started shaking and she was trying to mutter something which couldn't be heard by the noise of the music. Worriedly, her friends looked in the direction abir was looking, half expecting to find a monster or something but what they found was much worse than a monster...

What they saw a familiar face, staring right at them. The four girls couldn't believe their eyes, they were making eye contact with the face of a girl they hoped they wouldn't have to see so soon... or ever!

Maddie. Your typical mean girl and best friends with the now deceased FF. The second in command had now become the queen bee, and the four girls were intruders in her tightly woven hive of 'friends' and slaves.

Oh no! If Maddie was here, the rest of her crew must be here as well? The crew FF use to be part of before her tragic death...

The four girls knew that from now on Maddie and the rest of her posse would make their life harder, they had already started throwing paper aeroplanes at them in class and it was only going to get worse.

Maddie started heading towards them with anger clearly drawn on her face.

"Err...Maddie is coming" Abir pointed out the obvious, looking in the distance whilst going back to her dancing. Her moment of fear was over.

"Wait? Isn't this her house?" Oliwia asked looking around the room filled with people, obviously being the stalker she was you would expect her to know who's house it was... but how could she have been so stupid to forget that this was the house of one of their enemy?

"What the hell?! Why didn't you realise this was her house before you dragged us to this party?! So what do we do?! do we stay here and confront her or do we run for our lives?" Mahnoor yelled whilst the evil figure got closer and closer to them.

"HIDE!" Alice screamed as loud as she could. Right on cue they all ran deeper into the crowd that was to busy dancing and drinking to notice them.

Hoping that the crowd would protect them from the evil Maddie, they ran even deeper into the crowd. They didn't realise how deep until they all ended up losing each other. Great! They were in dangerous territory and they had lost each other now they just had to hope that somehow they would all manage to survive this party.

****
Being the most observant one, Mahnoor was the first one to realise that she had lost her friends. She stopped running and looked around, trying to find those idiots. She checked in all directions but she couldn't see any of them. What would she do now? Where could they all be? Will they be alright? Will she be alright?

To be honest she wasn't so worried about herself but she was worried about her friends. They were kind of stupid and oblivious to the their surrounding. Mahnoor just hoped they wouldn't get themselves killed. She was determined to find! Well, she was until something shiny caught her eye.

"Shiny!" she whispered to herself and walked over to the thing, caught in a trance once again. Her mind was only set one thing now, finding that shiny object! Oh and finding her friends too...

Not realising where she was heading, she ended up bumping into something or rather someone.

"Oi! Watch where you are going!" The stranger she had just walked into shouted, annoyed.

He was pissed off, he seemed like he would rather be any other place than this party, he seems friendly Mahnoor thought. She was starting to get bored and she had no idea where her friends were so in the mean time she would just annoy this stranger and entertain herself.

So she started talking to him about her life, the guy obviously ignored her but Mahnoor kept talking whilst waiting for her friends to find her. If her friends didn't find her at least she would have a new friend, the guy who was just ignoring her.
She felt like this new friendship will be a friendship forever whether that guy liked it or not!

******
Abir looked around, the reality of her situation was getting too real. She was all alone at a party! Why was she at a party? She should be at home pretending to be studying whilst watching anime! Not at some party full of annoying people!!

She started to walk around not knowing what to do. She was going to panic any second now and the loud music wasn't really helping. Gosh do people actually listen to this thing? Abir didn't like this music at all so she did what any normal person would do, she got her headphones out from her bag and she started listening to satanic metal music on her phone.

Liking her music she just sat on the floor in the middle of people dancing as she relaxed over the 'relaxing' and 'sweet' sound of her music.

She had lost her friends at this party and honestly she couldn't care any less. Maybe it would be a little nice to have a break from them and listen to her music.

Just a few seconds later she ended up closing her eyes...

***

As expected Oliwia ran to the kitchen. That was the first place she could think of finding her friends. She was looking through the cupboards trying to find potatoes or at least glitter in Maddie's kitchen. Why was she looking for glitter?! She really had been hanging out with Mahnoor a little too much! Oh well if she found glitter in this kitchen she could leave a trail of glitter and hope that Mahnoor would follow it so they would find each other.

Giving up on her search for glitter she just checked the fridge for potatoes but unfortunately all she found was a piece of garlic, being the vampire she was, she was allergic to garlic so she screamed and ran away all the way to a random room.

Maddie's room. Well, it seemed like it was Maddie's. What she found there was funny but at the same time creepy. Maddie's room was covered in pictures of Abir, Alice, Mahnoor and Oliwia. And here people thought Oliwia was the stalker!

She couldn't help herself, she was impressed by Maddie! How did she manage to get all of their photos? Most of the photos were taken when they must not have been looking... But why were there so many old pictures of them? Why were there any pictures at all?!

At least one thing was clear: Maddie was a much better stalker than Oliwia. Also it was a little insane to have your room covered of pictures of the people you hate... or maybe Love? Or love to hate? Either way, what had started out as an innocent, average high school party, had become something much more sinister...

Oliwia couldn't help but notice that in some pictures their faces had a big Red Cross over. This was bad, really bad. Oliwia ran out of the room and went to search for one of her friends. She entered the living room and noticed Abir meditating in the middle of the room... or maybe she was listening to music ? Oliwia ignored her and walked around the room looking for Mahnoor, the 'normal' one.

Alice was lost, she didn't know what to do... She was just a little girl in this big place all alone without her friends. She didn't know how do survive a situation like this. Was she supposed to call Childline? (0800 1111!) Alice was starting to get exhausted and tired, she really needed a drink. From where she was standing she saw the classic bowl of red fruit punch seen in nearly every American teen movie, so, having no other option, she hurried over there.

Just as the young, naive and, most importantly, thirsty girl was about to pour herself a cup of punch, she felt something stop her by pulling on her arm. Alice turned around and glared at the mysterious assailant; She was desperate for some of the toxic-looking fruit punch and now this disrespectful stranger wasn't letting her have it!

"Trust me this fruit punch is really bad" The stranger smirked at her.

"Who cares! I just need something to drink..." Alice whined

"Here. Take this" the stranger smiled innocently at her as he held up a cup filled with an even stranger-looking drink than the fruit punch.

Alice looked at him suspiciously, didn't her mum tell her not to take sweets from creepy old men? But this guy in front of her wasn't a creepy old men, in fact he was the opposite, and he wasn't offering her sweets that may be drugged... instead, he was offering her a drink that might be drugged! So Alice, not knowing any better, smiled at him and took the drink.

The smile on the stranger's face widened and turned more into an evil grimace, immediately signaling to Alice that something was wrong. Her eyes widened in fear as she stepped away from the man, dropping her glass as she stared in horror at his glaring smile. The glass shattered, leaving a splatter of broken glass on the once-spotless carpet.

The shocked and helpless girl felt her legs turn to jelly and her vision slowly fade. Everything seemed distorted, the thumping noise of the music grew louder and louder, confusing the dizzy girl even further.

The man grinned menacingly, knowing that his work was done, the drink had been successfully spiked. He turned away and walked out of the room, looking for more gullible teenagers to drug.

In her drugged-up state, Alice could no longer remember where she was and what she was meant to be doing. She wondered sluggishly, almost like a brain-dead zombie, from room to room, not caring about anyone or anything.

At some point during the night, she made her way back to the dance floor and started to dance again. Sadly, her dancing skills seemed just as bad as when she wasn't high... or maybe she was just high all the time?

As the time went by, Alice's dancing got gradually more frantic and feverish; her arms began to swing around wildly, not giving a care in the world for the other people around her that she kept hitting.

***

Meanwhile, Oliwia gave up her search, and she instead tried to find a place where she could sleep, or at least sit down.

Oliwia soon spotted an unoccupied sofa across the room that seemed perfect for sleeping in, so the worn-out girl decide to make her way over to it.

During the long journey across the living room, she suddenly got hit by a.. human? Is Alice a Human? Yes, she got hit by Alice.

The 'twin sisters' stared at each other for a minute. A second later, Alice went crazy.

"OLIWIA I LOVE YOU!! YOU ARE MY ONLY LOVE! I HATE ABIR! I NEED YOU MY LOVE!" She started to scream out, causing the crowd of people around them to stare at her in concern.

"Come on Alice! You must be high." Oliwia said, pulling her through the crowd.

"How could you?! I thought what we had was real!" Alice cried, desperately waving her arms around in an effort to stop Oliwia from pulling her away.

Oliwia simply punched Alice in the shoulder, as she was standing a little too close to her.

Alice fell down on the ground and hit her head on the carpeted floor. She then tried to stand back up, holding onto Oliwia for support.

Alice looked sadly at her friend and whispered "I am already married"

"What? Aren't you 14?! Get a divorce!" Oliwia shouted angrily, but also slightly concerned for Alice's welfare. Was this a forced marriage? If Alice was married, why hasn't she given Oliwia any of the wedding cake?

Alice started to stutter "I....Can't... I can't get a divorce..." She whispered melancholily.

"And why is that?" Oliwia asked playing along with whatever game Alice was playing.

"BECAUSE HE IS DEAD! MR BIRDY IS DEAD! I am a bloody widow and I can't look after his kids! Do you have any idea how hard it is to look after 3 kids on your own?! And we don't even get child benefits!!! My oldest son is soon going to go to college and I can't even pay for his fees! I am a horrible mother!!" She started to sob.

Oliwia actually felt sorry for the poor girl, well not really, but she still put on a sad smile and said to her friend "I'm sorry for your loss, Mr birdy must be in a better place now. Come on let's go and find your child benefits"

Somehow Alice actually listened, she calmed down, wiped her tears, and followed Oliwia. 1 down 2 to go Oliwia thought.

As they looked around for their friends Alice started talking about her relationship with Mr Birdy happily. "Oh I remember when we first met, I knew he was the one! It all started one summer night in..."

Oliwia just ignored her, she really didn't want to listen to Alice's imaginary love life.

"I think you need these more than I do" Abir said from behind them, holding out her headphones. Which is true, Oliwia really needed those headphones! She couldn't bear to have to listen to another second of Alice's nonsense.

"There you are!" Oliwia said happily as she put on the snug headphones and Alice's rambling idiocy was soon dulled.

"Abirrrrr!!!!! I've missed you, you are my true love!! And iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will alwaaaays looooooooove yo... ouch that hurts!" Alice sang, though she was unable to finish her last note as Abir ended up punching her.

"See what I've been putting up with for the past 10 minutes!" Oliwia complained to Abir.

"Alice did you take anything from a stranger?" Abir suddenly asked her worriedly.

"Stranger, friends what's the difference? Once you were a stranger to me." Alice said wisely.

"Just ignore her, that's what I do" Oliwia advised Abir.

"Yeah life is much easier ignoring her. Let's go and find Mahnoor instead!

***

"I'll try it again but I still haven't heard anything about the word of any other person who cares about me, but then they don't understand me when I'm talking like a pretty girl but she doesn't know about it anymore so I'm not really bothered by her friends or something like this. And then we will never get a chance to live in a new life that is not even that much of a human being as well it is just the evil spirits that we have to survive and then we'll be reunited again. However I think they are probably gonna have a better way to get rid of it..." Mahnoor rambled on, not really sure about what she was saying.

"Interesting." The guy she was talking to said, yawning.

"Come on I'm tired of talking! Why don't you tell me your life story now?"

"Me no English" The guy blurted out.

Mahnoor just laughed, this was the excuse she would always use but her own excuse wasn't going to work on her. "Oh really? What language do you speak then?"

"Non la capisco. Io non parlo Inglese..." The guy spoke in Italian just to get out of this conversation but little did he know that Mahnoor is Italian as well.

"Mamma mia! Sei Italiano? Anche io sono Italiana! Da dove sei?" Mahnoor started to speak even more enthusiastically

The guy was taken aback, he didn't know what to do, this excuse would always work but now the girl in front of him seemed to be fluent in Italian. Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing... looks like he will actually need to talk to her now...

As he was about to say something back to her the angry screams of three girls stopped him.

"Oh hey Mahnoor, there you are!"

"Where the f*ck where you?!"

"Mahnoor! You killed Mr Birdy! I will never forgive you"

Mahnoor froze in her spot. She had completely forgotten about those idiots and part of her wished that her friends wouldn't have found her this soon.

She put on her innocent smile and said "Hey, I was wondering how long would it take you guys to find me!"

And then the smile faded away as she looked at the guy and said "Mi dispiace, ma devo andare."

Then she joined her friend and it seemed like they were going to make it out of this place.

However a voice stopped them: "Aspetta! Qual è il tuo numero?"

"I don't know Italian but that sounded like something to do with a number" Abir said whilst putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

"You want her number? Her number is 0800 1111!" Alice yelled.

"Wait did you just give him childline's number?" Mahnoor asked. For some reason they all knew childlines number by heart.

"Who cares?! Let's get out of here, I'm hungry!" Oliwia protested.

"WE CANT LEAVE!! THE PARTY HAS JUST BEGUN" Alice started dancing again. At some point all of her energy will run out. Right?

"Alice is right. The night is still young, and by the grace of magic, so are we..." Mahnoor began quoting God knows what.

Just as Mahnoor was about to begin her monologue, a loud noise stopped her.

***

Abir, Mahnoor and Oliwia slowly and dramatically turned around, expecting the worst as they confronted the unexpected noise.

The three girls gasped in shock, horror and annoyance as their eyes locked onto the perpetrator.

Pieces of shattered clay and glass lay in the middle of the room beside the still-dancing Alice, who was oblivious to the fact that she had just knocked over a priceless vase, the pride and glory of Maddie's family.

The music skidded to halt, everybody in the room turned to stare at Alice and the broken shards of the precious heirloom.

Alice, oblivious to it all, continued to dance like a madman. The other three girls stared, stunned by the whole situation, and were about to leap forward and grab Alice so that they could make their heroic escape from this place, when, suddenly, a loud voice cut through the distant music and anxious murmurings.

"What. Have. You. DONE?!" Maddie screamed as she stormed into the silent room. She stopped in front of Alice and the broken shards, an expression of cold-hearted hatred on her face.

Mahnoor, Oliwia and Abir knew that they had to get out of there immediately. Alice, however, still continued to dance without a care in the world.

As Maddie stared in disbelief at Alice and the broken vase, the girls pretty much pulled a zany and ran for the hills. And, although they did think about leaving Alice behind, they felt pity for the poor, stupid girl, so they dragged her out of there too.

A few moments later and they were all running outside in the streets of Manchester.... well, Alice was skipping whilst singing "Oh Happy Day" and Mahnoor was looking at the stars and thinking of deep stuff, as usual.

"Look even now in our darkest times the stars are there shining for us..." She began.

But soon enough she was interrupted by Maddie's angry screams. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only scream they could hear, meaning that Maddie was not alone. She had probably gotten the rest of her gang too. The gang that FF used to be a part of...

So, as expected, the four girls started to scream in unison with the angry yells of Maddie and her gang, which obviously drew even more attention to them.

Stupidly, in the heat of the moment, they turned around the corner, not realizing that they had just entered a one-way street.

They were going to die at the hands of some teenage girls...

They all closed their eyes, huddled together and waited...

...Waited for whatever monstrous death they were going to have to face...
