Hello and welcome to the Veiled Nights official short story competition! All authors are welcome to enter this dark lair, whether you are a fantasy writer or a lover of history we ask you to share. We understand that there are more than plenty of these contest here on Wattpad, however this competition is different from the rest. The night's shadow filled realm strives to get your creativity running wild with new and intriguing prompts. This competition is just for you horror seekers out there, so show us your dark side!

Rules:

Yes, what a nightmare, there are indeed rules to follow.

1. Curse words must be kept to a minimal, and no we are not speaking of witch curses.

2. Absolutely NO pornography!

3. This kingdom does not tolerate cyber bullying. Treat everyone with respect, hide your wicked ways for a change. Loki might think his story is better than Darth Vader's, but that doesn't give him the right to flash his evil grin and call him a fool. Besides, Darth Vader is no one to mess with and neither are we.

4. No fan fiction, sorry.

5. Entries can belong in any genre, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, history, adventure, dystopian etc.

6. If your story has gore keep the gore pg-13.

7. You must comment on the challenge if you are entering. Your comment needs to include: the genre you are writing.

8. Follow the guideline, I, the Queen of Midnight did not put these here for nothing. I despise wasting time.... just kidding I'm a massive procrastinator.

What to Expect:

To enter your short story of fright it must at least be 1,500 words at the minimal and 5,000 words maximum. Because we are just getting started on our journey, you have three weeks (for our first competition) to get your entries in. Your stories will be read by our short story monitors who will choose a winner at the end of each contest. Each round will have a short excerpt of our very own works of poetry or a dreary situation that your protagonist or antagonist must work their way out of, or not in some cases. Other prompts may vary, the Veiled Night is constantly working on new ideas so expect some surprises along this not so golden brick road.

In order to let the kingdom know that you have agreed to all the rules, repeat after me...
