"Master what do we do shredded is gone and dead what killed him?" I asked as he looked down thinking deeply
"I dont know my son but we have to be careful." He said as he thought
"What has the strength master?" I asked and he looked at me with eyes full of compassion
"Get your brothers it's time I tell you all a truth that I have buried for sixteen years now." He said as I got my brothers to come in
It took a few minutes of silence before anyone spoke breaking the thick air that had encased us all. I could tell that this was difficult for splinter to say and he wanted to make sure that he got the words right, exactly right the first time around for he couldn't retract what he was about to say. Nothing could have prepared us for what he was about to tell us about our past.
"My sons, there is something I need to tell you all about our family that I should have said forever ago. Many years ago I found you guys in the swears in some green ooze however, there was another of you who was a bit on the odd side. I took the four of you back home and trained you in the art of being a ninja when I noticed that one of you was plagued by a darkness deeper than the seas. I noticed that he was a fun love able little guy at first, but over time he grew angry. Angry enough to have a soul that would be willing to kill if he wanted to. I tried to teach him to be calm and collected, but bless his heart he was always getting distracted by the smallest things. I had named him Mikey, the others had given him a darker name that sought blood and vengeance. That name was something fierce and dark, they named him midnight. As you three grew so did he and his kindness would get suffocated by the dark with in. Soon I realize that when the sun set there was third side that would come out that worse than the other two. That side would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. I protected you three from this tried to lock your brother away, because even he knew that the power was too strong. Then one night he got out and tried attacking you three. With vengeance and fury he slashed at you and in doing that cracked your shell Raph causing the world to tumble down as we knew it. I fought him off and you three ran for refuge. I tried to get Mikey back, but failed as this monster ran away escaping my grasp. You three were safe, but nothing could protect the city from what was about to unfold. As I later found out that the shredder had gotten to your brother that night and trained him to use his darkness, the city could not hide any longer from what was about to happen." Splinter said this as a pained and yet broken look crossed his face
I looked over at raph who's was now looking at his cracked shell with the same look as splinter. Nobody dared to speak, then raph broke the dead silence.
"We had a brother," he said broken "he was a good brother, one we joked with, one we loved, and ...... and you...... you locked him away you made him a monster!" Raph said anger dripping from his words
"Please my son it was the only way to keep you safe." Splinter said pleading with raph
"Keep us safe, keep us safe, you always use that line as an excuse! You always say our safety, stay in the shadows, safety, safety, safety! Well did you ever think that maybe we would have been safer if you just told us the truth!" Raph said anger rising in his voice
"Please, try to understand my son." Splinter pleaded some more
"No, I'm through taking orders from you old man! I'm done being lied too! All my life I have wondered where this scare came from why I was broken and nobody else was. Did you ever think that maybe this was Mikey calling out for help?" Raph paused as master splinter was speechless "you know what don't answer that I'm done listening to you." Raph finished as he got up and left the lair
"Raph! You can't do this!" I yelled trying to run after him but splinter held me back
"My son, let him go. His anger is great, but his passion is greater." He said as Raph left the lair for good
