Chapter 7: Lunch
I sat on the round table full of my friends, Nia, Latoya, Erica, Prince and my sister Sabrina and a two unknown faces. One beside Nia and one beside Sabrina. The table was quiet and awkward, just everyone eating until Latoya spoke up.
"Hm... aren't you gonna introduce us to your new friends Sabrina and Nia?" Latoya said smiling at the strangers.
Sabrina and Nia shyly smiled and looked at each other and the new boys they had with them.
"Uh- this is Cameron." Nia said pointing to Cameron. "Cameron, these are my friends, Sabrina, Latoya, Rebbie, Ariel and-" She stopped and looked at Prince with a disgusted look on her face. "Uh- yeah these are my friends." She smiled at Cameron.
What about Prince?
"Hey, nice to meet y'all." Cameron nicely said to all of us.
In the corner of my eye, I saw Prince slouch in his chair and a groan a little.
I looked over at him, "What's wrong?" I whispered.
Prince quickly sat up in his chair nervously.
"Uh. Um. Im just hungry." He said getting up.
"Imma get some food." He mumbled pushing his chair in and quickly walking away.
Latoya turned to Sabrina, "And Sabrina it's your turn to introduce." She said crossing her fingers.
Sabrina chuckled and cleared her throat.
"This is my new boyfriend, Jason." She smiled brightly.
We all gasped and popped back in our chairs a little.
Boyfriend?
"Yes, he's my boyfriend. Chill guys." She giggled.
"Aww y'all are so cute." Rebbie cooed.
Jason smiled and nodded his head.
"Thanks, now imma got get some food, I didn't get a chance to." Jason said getting up.
"Hurry back." Sabrina cooed as he walked away.
My head popped towards Sabrina.
"Sabrina!" I raised my voice.
She looked at me confused, "What?"
"You're dating a guy? Why haven't you told me?!" I asked.
"I just started dating him today." She chuckled and played with her fingers.
"And how long have you known him?" I asked.
Sabrina shrugged, "Since yester-" She started.
"Yesterday?!" I interrupted.
Sabrina slowly nodded her head. "Yeah why?" She asked.
I shook my head and sat back in my chair.
"Never mind." I mumbled putting a French fry in my mouth.
This is her freaking 4th time dating someone she barely knows! The last time she dated a guy was last year. She known him for a day and her relationship with him was really bad and short. I wish she can understand that she need to know a guy before dating him because she don't know what's he is like!
I felt a light touch on my shoulder. I kinda jumped and turned around and it's Michael.
He chuckled laughing at my reaction.
"Hey jumpy." He smiled.
I chuckled, "Hey. You wanna sit with us?" I asked.
"Sure." He nodded.
I looked at the empty table behind him and pointed.
"Go get one of those chairs and sit beside me." I smiled.
"Ooh I wonder where the others are at." Erica said.
I looked at her, "Who?" I asked.
"His brothers." She smiled. "I haven't seen them in a while."
Michael came back with a chair and put it beside me and sat down.
"Where's your brothers?" I asked him.
Michael put his lunch on the table and shrugged.
"I don't know. They're somewhere in this cafeteria." He said.
"If you ever see your brothers, tell them I said hi." Erica giggled.
"Ooh speaking about my brothers, they're gonna tryout of basketball after school today." He smiled.
"Ooh they are?" Nia raised her eyebrows.
"Yep, I am too." Michael smiled.
"Wow, we get to see eight people play basketball." Sabrina chuckled.
Michael and I made a confused face.
"Eight?" We said together.
"Yeah, your brothers, Cameron, Jason and Prince." She said.
I gasped, "Y'all are trying out too?" I asked Cameron.
He smiled and nodded.
"Cool, I guess we'll stay after school and watch y'all play." I smiled.
Prince and Jason came back with their lunches and sat on the table. Prince sat on my right and Jason sat beside Sabrina across the table.
"So what did I miss?" Prince asked settling his food on the table.
"We were talking about the basketball tryouts y'all are having." Erica told him.
His eyes widened and he nodded. "Oh yeah I forgot to tell y'all I was trying out for the basketball team." Prince said putting a French fry in his mouth.
Jason made a sour face, "Bruh, you trying out for the team?" He asked.
Prince nodded his head slowly.
Jason chuckled and shook his head looking down.
"W-what's wrong with that?" I spoke up.
"The boy is so short, I don't think he'll make it." He laughed.
Nia, Sabrina and Cameron laughed with Jason but everyone else. I looked over at Prince, who was staring at him like if he's gonna kill him.
"Ugh. Shut up. That's rude." I rolled my eyes at him.
Nia sighed, "Chill, he's kidding." She chuckled a little.
"No he's not." I heard Prince mumble hanging his head down.
So far, I'm not liking Jason.
"C'mon, they were just kidding. Take a lil joke." Sabrina chuckled.
I shrugged, "Whatever." I mumbled.
Sabrina popped with her eyes wide open.
"Omg I forgot to tell you. Mama texted me and said that she's not gonna be home after school cause she's going to the doctor." Sabrina told me.
"So we have the house to ourselves?" I smiled widely.
"Well since Dylan is gone, I guess so." She said.
"Oh yeah, what happened to Dylan?" Michael asked with his mouth full.
"He went over to William and Chris' house." I told him. "I'm kinda glad he did cause I'm tired of him." I rolled my eyes biting a cookie.
"After y'all left, Joseph was talking about him all night and wouldn't stop." Michael said.
"What did he say?" Sabrina and I asked together.
"He said hat he needed more discipline and manners before he teach him." He said.
I chuckled, "He do need more discipline." I agreed.
"Yeah, he's always going out without permission and cussing out people." Sabrina added.
"Well I don't want Joseph to teach him. Y'all probably don't want Joseph to teach him." He looked down.
I looked at him confused, "Why not?" Sabrina and I asked together.
Latoya's head popped up at Michael.
"Michael. Shut up." She whispered.
"Oh sorry." He mouthed.
I looked at him confused, "What?"
"It's nothing Ariel." He mumbled.
* * * *
We chatted and ate our lunch the whole time then we had to go to 4th period. My 4th period is English and I have it with Michael and Kaitlyn.
I really can't stand looking at her, she's horrible.
Good thing she didn't say diddly squat to me. But she did talk about me to one of her friends...
We went to the rest of our classes until school was over then we had to go to the gym and see the boys tryout for basketball.
