50: Through Thick and Thin

Warning! Mention of lemon

Quirk: bunny

- Todoroki's POV -

We knew our relationship was going to be difficult given our work, but we loved each other immensely and wanted to make it work. (y/n) was so bubbly and happy all the time, she was adorable and despite not wanting to admit it I wanted to hold her in my arms constantly. She was always chirpy and texted me the sweetest of things, which always made my heart twist as with each text I wanted to see her more and more but our jobs kept us both incredibly busy.

I was a pro hero and she was a model, so she had a lot of photoshoots and interviews to do whilst I had to go on patrol a lot and sometimes go away for various specific missions. She'd always find time to test me though, despite our busy schedules, and they'd always make my day.

We did have to keep our relationship a secret though. It was, at the moment, to difficult to make it known to the public due to our work. Only a handful of people knew, she had visited my agency a few times and I had been in the vicinity of where her photoshoots were taking place whilst they were taking place, simply so that I could get a glimpse of her as she left.

Once again I was thinking about her as I walked my patrol route, when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. When I pulled it out I saw it was a text from (y/n), and when I swiped to open it I couldn't help but blush.

(y/n) - Shotoooo I miss you soooo much!!! I wanna hear your voice, ring me when you caaaan!!!

12:33

I pinched the bridge of my nose trying to stop a smile, something which Deku noticed. "Shoto?"

"Nothing, it's nothing," I shoved my phone back into my pocket, still smiling to myself. She kept on sending me cute little texts all day, one of which catching my eye. She told me that tomorrow evening's photoshoot had been cancelled, and that if I was available we could get together and do something.

When patrol was over I found myself stood in front of my wardrobe, deciding what to wear. "I'm like a child," I slapped my forehead when I realised what I was doing. My phone then started buzzing repeatedly and I saw it was (y/n) calling, so I quickly answered, wanting to hear her voice.

"Shoto!" She exclaimed when I answered.

"Hey, everything okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I just wanted to hear you. It's been so long, I miss you!" She whined, and I could practically see her pouting.

"I know, I miss you too. Your photoshoot was cancelled tomorrow though, how come?" I asked.

"The photographer called in sick. We were able to find a spare for today but can't get ahold of another for tomorrow so I've got the night off! We're gonna celebrate, yeah?" She asked desperately and I smiled, nodding despite her not being able to see me.

"Absolutely. You coming over here?" I asked, picking out a shirt.

"Sure! I can't wait!" She said happily. "Oh, sorry Sho, I gotta go but I'll speak to you as soon as I can!"

"Oh, sure thing," I said, slightly sad our call had to end so soon.

"I love you!"

"Y-yeah, me too..."

"Well then say it you dummy!"

"I-I love you too," I mumbled and she giggled.

"Speak soon!" And with that she hung up. I looked back at the shirt in my hand, a warm feeling in stomach. I'd never felt this intensely in love with anyone before, but there was something about her that was just special.

- Timeskip - - (y/n)'s POV -

The sound of my front door unlocking as I stirred the ramen made me jump up in excitement. Shoto was the only other one who had a key to my apartment, so I ran straight to the door and practically jumped into his arms as he walked in. "Whoa!" He let out in surprise but he still caught me, him having quick reflexes as he was a hero.

"Hey Sho!" I said happily, pulling him in for a long-awaited kiss. It had been a while since we had last been able to kiss each other, let alone be intimate so I was craving him but we'd both had a long day so energy was needed. "I missed you!"

"I missed you too," he said with his adorable blush and I smiled brightly.

"C'mon, foods almost ready!" I said, dragging him by his hand further into my apartment. I dished up and the two of us sat at the table, slurping away at the noodles as I passionately spoke about the photoshoots and the outfits I'd be wearing. He was staring at me wistfully as I spoke and I had a feeling there was one thing on his mind, so I gently brushed my foot against his ankle, causing him to stiffen up. I couldn't help but giggle, a blush creeping on his face as my foot worked it's way up. "You're so easy to read," I teased, standing and approaching him, then helping myself to his lap.

"You're such a tease," he whispered, wrapping his arms around my waist tightly. We pulled each other in for a passionate kiss, it getting very heated very quickly. It was fair to say that the night was filled with immense passion, us emptying the box of condoms I had bought only earlier that day.

- The Next Day -

"(y/n)... (y/n)!" A voice awoke me from my slumber and my eyes shot open in surprise when I realised it was the voice of my manager, Meg Kataoka.

"M-Meg?! How did you get in here?" I exclaimed, pulling the covers up over my body completely. That was when I realised that someone important was missing from my bed. "Sho?" I asked, looking around instinctively.

"Who's 'Sho'?" Meg frowned, a stern tone in her voice.

"N-no-one! My - er - cat... looks like he must've gotten out," I laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of my head.

"Well get changed, we have an interview to get to and it's half an hour away. Get dressed," she demanded, walking out of my room and I sighed, getting up and opening my wardrobe to get some clothes. I almost had a heart attack when I saw Shoto crouched in it, his fingers over his lips.

"What're you doing in there?" I hissed quietly, crouching down.

"Your agent came in, I couldn't let her see us like that so I hid," he whispered. I sighed again, feeling irritated that we had to keep our relationship a secret.

"I don't like this," I pouted. "I don't like keeping us a secret."

"I don't either..." he admitted.

"We should announce it, announce us. I mean, we're not just messing around anymore, we're in love! That's something to be proud about," I said and he smiled, nodding.

"Agreed... okay, we'll go public," he said.

"Yay!" I exclaimed, jumping up and forgetting that my manager was in the next room.

"(y/n)? What's going on?" She called out to me.

"N-nothing! Nothing, I'm fine, I'm almost ready!" I pulled out some random clothes and quickly pecked Shoto on the lips, changing and slipping out of my room without letting Meg see my boyfriend.

I couldn't wait to hold Shoto's hand in public, being able to call him without pretending I'm on the phone to someone else, to us possibly living together as well. It felt perfect, and all throughout the journey to the interview I felt giddy. Meg kept on asking me what was wrong but I shrugged it off, not wanting to tell her yet as I had a feeling she was going to be the hardest to convince of the good our relationship brought.

During my interview I was smiling brightly, laughing and thinking about Shoto. I kept on texting him and he was replying much quicker than usual, making me want to come out about the pair of us now. All morning Meg was badgering me, repeatedly asking me why I was smiling, sometimes demanding to look at my phone as I was texting Shoto. I denied her every time, but was soon called back on stage for the rest of my interview.

As per tradition, after the job was done I asked the team if they wanted to get a drink. Turning to Meg I asked the question, but I noticed she was scrolling through her phone with furrowed eyebrows. "Oh- no, I have some business to take care of," she said, without looking up at me. She had a furious look on her face and turned, storming out of the studio. I wasn't about to let her ruin my good mood however, so I shrugged it off, grabbed my bag but I noticed my phone wasn't where I alt put it. I simply shrugged it off and went with the crew out to the nearest bar, us having a couple of drinks and enjoying the city.

As it got to the evening, Shoto wasn't responding to my texts. I tried calling him a few times but there was no answer. 'Hm, probably on patrol,' I thought simply, happily finishing another drink. By the time Meg returned I was drunk, and waved her over to us. "Meg! Where you been?!" I shouted and she chuckled, sitting beside me.

"Just taking care off... business," she said with an odd smirk.

"You look weird," I said plainly and she laughed.

"Lets get these drinks in," she said and I raised my glass in the air.

"Here here!"

- Timeskip -

A week had passed and I was yet to hear from Shoto. He'd left me on read multiple times, and when he did text me it was only simple, short messages. I'd tried calling him a few times and each time it went to voicemail. I figured he was just busy but we hadn't gone this long without texting each other.

Me: Hey baby! I hope patrol goes well tonight, don't get into too much trouble! ;p xoxox

18:31

Once again he left me on read and I pouted as I headed out of the studio. It was getting dark and I was desperate to see him, his uninterested attitude beginning to irritate me. It was as though he didn't even realise that I knew he was ignoring me, but I wasn't as oblivious as he thought I was. I cared about him immensely which meant I could tell when he was feeling upset or lost.

The last thing I wanted to do was fight. We'd eventually have our first fight and I knew that, but these past months together had been so perfect and peaceful with him. I did want to find out what had gotten him this way however, so I decided to subtly follow his patrol route.

I put on my public disguise which consisted of a hat and a face mask, as well as clothes people wouldn't usually see me wear and left my flat, heading to his agency. I saw him exit with Ingenium, his close friend, and the two of them began their paired patrol. From a safe distance I followed, not bothering to send anymore cutesy texts like I usually would do and hoping he'd notice.

It wasn't necessarily a case of him avoiding me that got to me, although it did slightly irritate me, it was more that there must've been something bothering him and he wasn't telling me what it was. As a couple we should be sharing these things so we can help each other in the future, but it seemed as though he wanted to bottle them up instead.

As his patrol went on I followed the pair of them, and noticed Shoto glance down at his phone he pulled briefly from his pocket. I checked social media and saw he was active, so it made me wonder whether he was checking to see if I had sent him any texts or called him, and I thought I saw him pout when he saw there was nothing.

The night went on and there were no messages from him despite it being an uneventful patrol. I decided to head to his flat and await him there, hoping to confront him about why he had been acting so distant. I waited patiently outside, knowing he'd need to change from his hero suit at his agency before making his way back here, but when he finally arrived he was apparently shocked to see me sat in front of his door waiting for him. "What're you doing here?" He asked, a surprising tone of nervousness in his speech.

"You've been ignoring my messages," I said plainly and his face went as white as a sheet before he looked away awkwardly. "I'm coming in," I snatched the key from his hand and opened up his flat, storming in without permission.

"(y/n)-,"

"Have you been busy? Is that why? You can tell me Shoto," I said, stepping towards him and taking his hands, him happily gripping mine.

"Yeah I've... been busy... sorry," he muttered but he still didn't look me in the eye.

"I wanna stay the night-,"

"You can't," he suddenly said, catching me by surprise.

"Why not?"

"I have an early start tomorrow..."

"Then I'll make you breakfast."

"No (y/n), seriously," he said somewhat sternly.

"We've not spent time together in what feels like forever! I miss you Shoto," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck and pulling him in closer. He gulped at our close proximity, and I could see him leaning in for a kiss. I happily reciprocated, my heart bursting at the feeling of his lips again.

"You're right... I'm sorry... I have been avoiding you," he whispered.

"Why?" I asked carefully.

"Because I'm too in love with you," he said, confusing me.

"So? I love you too, why should that mean you have to ignore me?" I asked.

"Your manager, Kataoka. She said that I was ruining your career because you were someone to be desired, and having a boyfriend tie you down will affect your popularity," he said and my whole body filled with anger.

"She said what?"

"I know, I was angry at first but then I started to wonder whether it was true... you worked so hard to get into the industry that the last thing I wanted to do was ruin your career, or affect it in any way-,"

"You wouldn't be doing any of that! You fool, the only thing that matters to me is being happy with you! Yeah I love my job but I'm a good model, so whether I have a boyfriend or not I'm still gonna get jobs. I hate the whole 'desiring' part of my job, I don't like being referred to as an object for people to gaze at - I can't believe Meg said that! It explains why she's been acting so weird around me lately..."

"She's right though isn't she? The last thing I want to do is ruin your career-,"

"No, she's not right! You wouldn't be ruining anything, why would you think that? Plus you're usually so much more stubborn than this, why did you just let it go so easily? I thought you'd at least try to fight for us-,"

"I don't want this, I don't want us to end (y/n), of course I don't!" He defended, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me right up against him. "I was just worried about what you wanted."

"Sho if you ever feel like this again all you need to do is talk to me, I don't want us keeping secrets," I whispered, cupping his cheek.

"Yeah... sorry," he muttered, clearly embarrassed but I just found it adorable. I pulled him in for a loving kiss which he happily reciprocated, the two of us feeling touch-starved.

"I'm not letting anything come between us, alright?" I said confidently and he nodded.

"I know, and I feel the same," he said making me smile.

"Good. Now's the part where you pick me up and take me to your bedroom," I smirked and he laughed, doing exactly as told.
