Author's Note

For as long as I can remember, I wished someone would write a satisfying handbook for being an adult, because nothing in the world can prepare you for the everyday battles that come your way. I wished that someone could tell me how to be a good adult. But the thing is, I don't think any of the adults know how to be one. They're just getting by.

Leaving home, moving into a new place, you realize that you're no longer the same kid who was loved unconditionally. It's terrifying. It makes you think that you're nobody. Then comes the inner battles, as you try to make it out, for the sake of your loved ones.

This story follows Nobody, a young boy forced to leave home, to wade through the waters of a strange place called City where people of all sorts come by. There he meets all kinds of people, does all sorts of bad things... Desperately wanting to be someone.

Someone loved.

Someone seen.

In some ways, I've fulfilled my wish for a handbook. Though not completely.

By its nature, this book, Metanoia, is a philosophical book, and I know it's not for everyone, and not everyone would appreciate it.

But that's fine.

Because my intention is different.

I believe each creative piece of art is born out of a desire to express itself. The desire is fueled by the people who need it.

May it reach those who need it. May it comfort them. May it help them find meaning.

I shall sign off here.

Yours truly,
Nicental
