Chapter Thirty

A/N: harry gif on the side ;)

Previously:

When he was far enough, I groaned, grasping my head in my hands and looking down. I leaned my head against the shelves, feeling my eyes burning with tears. I'm so fucking screwed because he can do exactly what he said. He can ruin my relationship with Harry in a heartbeat, and probably my entire life.

3 Days Later

Serenity;

I slipped on my shoes before rushing down the stairs. It was eight thirty in the morning, and I was supposed to be working today with my father at the restaurant. It was the usual routine for me now. There was barely anything I can do other than go workout with Emily or work. What's left is staying home, and it's been driving me wild.

Ever since I saw Derek at the pharmacy, I couldn't get him out of my head. I knew that I shouldn't put too much of my mind on him at the moment, knowing that my focus has to be on work or I'll screw something up during the day. I wanted it to go by as quickly as possible. God only knows what today has in store for me.

Lately, my luck hasn't been so good. I can't see Harry since he's with his friends most of the time, my parents are keeping their eyes strained on me, and Belle has been taking up Harry's schedule as well. She can't go to daycare because the building is under reconstruction. Both Harry and I this week haven't had time for each other.

I was in the kitchen when my mother walked in. Carelessly, I started to pour some cereal in a bowl when my mother spoke up. "Good morning, Serenity."

"Good morning, mom," I replied quickly, moving to the fridge but her hand stopped me. It was pressed against my shoulder, her eyes burning into mine.

I felt her finger poke at the bruise underneath my collarbone. Shit! I mentally shrieked, total panic screwing with my head. I should have payed more attention to it. That completely slipped my mind, and now she's noticed.

"What is that?" She asked slowly, looking down at the mark.

Nervously, I shrugged. The back of my neck began to heat up and soon enough I'll begin to sweat under this pressure; I know it. It's not like I haven't lied before, but something about this feels very different. "I don't know...maybe a bruise or something?"

"Do not play dumb with me." She harshly snapped, her icy eyes burning into mine. "Have you been seeing him?"

"I have not," I answered too quickly.

Mother clenched her jaw, looking physically furious as she is inside. "You hope I don't catch you doing anything you shouldn't, Serenity. Or it's Texas for you."

Texas. I gulped at the sound of it. In Texas, my mother's side of the family lives. They are religious just like my parents, but so much worse in parenting. Spending the rest of my summer in the intense heat of Texas with a leash around my neck sounds like the worst kind of punishment.

She simply watched me for a couple of seconds, my gaze blank and hers steady and firm. I watched as she walked away, her heels clicking like a time bomb in my ears. I wanted to scream out of frustration.

When in the restaurant, Tiffany and I were working our asses off. I don't even get paid enough for this. My allowance isn't much, and I'm sure they know that, but they don't seem to care. Today as busy as hell, though. Customers were in and out, my feet throbbing by the time I'm sitting down for lunch.

I sighed heavily, rubbing my temples before looking at Tiffany who sat across from me, eating her usual carrots. "Hey, can I use your phone?"

"Sure," she answered simply. She reached into her pocket and passed me her phone.

Thankful, I shot her a smile and made my way outside from the back door in the kitchen. I looked behind me, making sure no one could easily hear me. Sighing to myself, I began to dial Harry's number, in need to hear his voice. I know; needy. I hate to think that I always want to be touched only by him. I hate to think I always want his company and only his. I hate to be living right now with the fear of losing him to something stupid I did two years ago.

It rang a couple of times before I heard his voice. "Hello?" His voice was husky, and raspier. He sounded tired, and it just hit me that it's mid day and he probably was sleeping in today. Of course, he has no plans most of the time.

"Hey, it's Serenity. I'm calling you from my friend's phone." My leg began to bounce subconsciously.

He groaned a little, huffing softly. "Oh hey, baby. I literally just woke up." Screaming and giggles erupted from his line, interrupting my chance to reply to him. Harry laughed and grunted just as I heard Belle's voice near the receiver. "Mommy said to get you up, Hawy. We going shopping!"

"Kill me," Harry muttered to himself. Talking to Belle, he gently said, "Tell mum I'll be right there." Belle replied with an 'okay' before he was playfully demanding, "No, no c'mere. Gimme kiss." Belle squealed and I heard Harry chuckle at her. I smiled to myself. "Babe?"

"Yeah?"

"Okay, so looks like I'm going on a ride to Hell." He joked lightly, only half joking however.

I rolled my eyes. I figured I do that a lot even when I'm not displeased. It's just a habit. "It can't be that bad. I wish I could go shopping with Belle. I miss her."

Harry paused. "Do you miss me?" He asked slowly. "'Cause I miss you."

My heart fluttered in my chest, my bouncing leg turning into a little hop of adoration. I leaned my body against the brick wall behind me, biting my finger nails with a lazy smile on my lips. "Of course I miss you," I mumbled quietly, blushing furiously and he's not even around. Just his voice is enough. I can't get used to the feeling I get with him. I don't think I ever will, anyways.

"Serenity." My father called from behind me.

I almost had a heart attack just as Harry stopped talking, having heard my dad. I looked at my dad, the phone still to my ear. Not a word left my mouth as he stared at me. Did he hear all that?

"Who are you talking to on the phone?" He asked firmly, his serious bright eyes staring at me steadily. "And who's phone is that?"

"I had to ask Emily what time we're going jogging tomorrow is all. This is Tiffany's phone." I quickly covered for myself.

Father nodded his head slowly, still watching me quite suspiciously. "Okay...well get back to work."

I nodded my head, already hearing Harry whisper, "I'll talk to you later, babe."

Harry;

"Dude I can't believe we just did that!" Niall laughed, stumbling a little on the concrete sidewalk.

My knuckles were sore from breaking his property and my hands dirty from fucking up their garden in the front lawn. I was drunk, intoxicated, and not thinking. I acted on instinct, and the problem with that was that I could easily do what I wanted no matter what it was. I'm high off the weed Niall brought and since we both couldn't drive, I had to call Louis. He's the only one who could pick us up from the random street we were on.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Louis Fucklinson, I need your help." I slurred.

"Bitch, I'm working," he sassed. "And are you drunk? Man, it's Tuesday. The fuck you doing getting wasted on a Tuesday night?"

Beside me, Niall kept giggling and wouldn't fucking shut up. I placed my finger on my lips, making shushing noises before I started laughing as well. I giggled into the phone, which Louis sighed at in annoyance. I wouldn't blame him. Niall came over when the house was empty and brought a couple of beers with him. I had no other choice but to drink since I was bored and I knew Serenity couldn't be out tonight.

Throwing my head back and leaning it against a fence, I blew air from my lips with a laugh. "Bro, I'm totally chillaxed right now."

Not to mention the bag of weed Niall brought as well. Just like high school, he said. I'm so fucked up right now I sound American. Niall widened his eyes at me, leaning forward and cackling loudly.

"Man, I feel so alive!" He yelled, falling to his knees and then onto his face on the grass with his ass up in the air.

"Is that Niall?" Louis asked. "Don't drive or do anything stupid."

"We're on some random street. I need you to give me a ride to Serenity's. I have to see heeer," I sang into the phone.

At this Louis couldn't be more annoyed. "I said I'm working."

"And I don't give a shit."

"Would you want Marisol to give you a ride?" He spat sarcastically.

"Actually, yes." I sassed in a slur. "She's nice and understanding."

Louis found that amusing somewhat. "She's everything but those two, mate. Now I'm going to call her and ask her. Please don't do anything stupid, Harry. I know you and Niall are reckless."

Too late, I thought to myself. "We're fucking awesome, you mean," I shouted, my arm in the air as Niall was slowly falling asleep on my floor but was rudely interrupted by my yelling.

He slowly sat up, a hand on the fence just as Louis hung up on me. I lazily put my phone in my pocket. I chuckled at Niall who was clumsily attempting to sit back on the grass. After restless drowsiness, he managed to sit down and ask, "So...you're leaving me here?"

"Absolutely not," I pointed my finger at him, sighing drunkenly. "You're staying at Louis's."

"Where are you going then?" He whined, lying on his back.

I giggled. "I'm gonna get that boooty," I joked, eyes squinting as I raised my chin up, a wide grin on my face.

Serenity;

I was sitting on the couch in the living area with Willie on the carpet, playing with toy cars in his Toy Story Pjs. From time to time I'd glance over at him, making sure he was okay before watching the TV again. Although my eyes seemed focused on the bright screen, my mind was somewhere else.

Derek was so damn annoying. I could think of plenty other things that could have happened. But no, it had to be Derek's presence screwing with me. I understand that telling Harry myself would be easier, and therefore I wouldn't have anything to hide. But it's not just Harry he'd tell. He'd tell my family, my friends, and mostly the entire town. I would be looked down upon as a whore and I can't have that on my back.

Every aspect of my life could be permanently damaged.

Plus, I can't find the words to tell Harry what I've done. It just can't come out no matter how much I want it to. It's like the words are in my head, but along the way they have no escape. My mouth stops working and my tongue ties itself in a knot. I'm left with stutters and incoherent sentences.

Willie yawned to himself, lying on his stomach and making "roomroom" noises. I smiled over at him, watching him quietly speak to himself in character.

"You tired?" I asked him from the couch.

He shook his head, although I knew he was lying. "No no," he persisted, shaking his head of dirty blonde curls.

"Well, you have twenty minutes and then you got to bed, okay?" I figured the less horrible I was with him, the more he began to behave. It's my fault the way I neglected him and usually spoke with no hospitality whatsoever.

The little boy just nodded his head and went back to his toy cars. I sighed, taking my eyes from Willie and focusing them back to the TV. This time I didn't get to watch for thirty seconds because the doorbell rang.

Frowning slightly, I got to my feet with wondrous thoughts of who the Hell could be here. My question was answered when I opened the door, and in came a stumbling Harry, replaying the events of last month in my mind; this time with a twist. Not this again. The twist was the fact he was my boyfriend.

Harry lied his head on my shoulder, his curls tickling my neck as I giggled, closing the door and rubbing my hands up and down his strong, muscular back. He hummed softly against my skin, cuddling me closer while we stood. I've realized he's more of a softy when he's intoxicated. Not only could I smell the alcohol, but I'm no dumbass. I smelled the weed off him the second I opened the door.

Weed was easy to smell. It was a mix of grass and a faint skunk smell. It never really bothered me, however I don't necessarily like it.

"Harry," I whispered, trying not to laugh at the way he kept rubbing his nose against my collarbone now. "What are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious?" He asked lowly, his voice raspy. "I came to see my girlfriend."

He's so cute even when he's shitfaced, I thought to myself, shaking my head with a small grin lacing my lips. I opened my mouth to talk, but he added, "And I came for some booooty." That, ladies and gentlemen, was the first time I heard Harry Styles giggle.

I grabbed his face in my hands, placing them over his warm cheeks. His eyes were a light pink, obvious from the high of the weed. Besides the red, his irises were still the bright, pale green as usual. I took in the lazy, drunk grin on his lips, the dimple on his left cheek appearing with delight.

My smile widened, giggling when he raised his chin with his eyes squinted with a soft laugh escaping his mouth. Cute would be a word he'd hate if I used it to describe him, but right now he was making it hard not to.

"You're so darn cute." I let my eyes scan his face again before I felt him clumsily lean down and plant a sloppy kiss on my nose.

"I'm not cute," he frowned. "I'm so fucking sexy."

I rolled my eyes, knowing I'll have to sober him up. "How'd you get here?" I asked, now actually interested how he got to my house in his state. He mumbled "Marisol" and I nodded slowly, not really knowing how he got in contact with her, but I'm guessing it had to do with Louis. "Go sit down on the couch while I get you water."

The hands I had on his cheeks were clasped by his, keeping them there as he huffed. "Okayyy," he slurred, lazily dropping his arms to his sides and slowly shuffling towards the living room. I realized Willie was still here, and that could probably be a problem, but I'm sure the worst Willie could do right now is start screaming and crying because there's a "stranger" in the house. Later on, he'd tell my mother and I'd be in some deep shit.

My parents were out -- and although they gave me no hint as to where -- I had a feeling they didn't want me knowing where they went. I'm pretty sure it had to do with the church because I heard them mumbling before they left, but even so why would they not tell me about going to the church? I didn't want to fill my head with more unnecessary thoughts so I didn't question it anymore.

After I got the glass of water -- pushing away the thoughts of Willie busting my ass -- I walked into the living room to see Harry lying on his stomach beside Willie, making "roomroom" noises with the five year-old. Dear Lord, Harry fit right in with Willie. And in a matter of a minute, too.

"So what's your name, little buddy?" Harry asked slowly.

Willie stared up at him, rubbing his eyes in exhaustion. "I'm Willie. Who are you?"

"I'm Spiderman," Harry said seriously.

My gullible little brother's bright blue eyes widened in astonishment. "No way! That's so cool!"

I stood there, a little bit amused and mostly just trying not to piss myself from laughter as Harry lied there, telling Willie about his "crime fighting stories". Willie was so happy and excited to be hearing such things from the one superhero he admired. I'm honestly too caught up in their conversation to care about the consequences. They were talking until Willie couldn't withstand being awake anymore, and lost his energy to exhaustion.

Smiling softly, I picked Willie up from the floor and held him with one arm as I handed Harry the glass of water using my unoccupied hand. He didn't question me and gulped it down just as I went to bring Willie upstairs. I tucked him in and kissed his cheek.

I scurried down the stairs to Harry who was standing around, staring at his feet and rubbing his eyes with a sigh. I knew he was probably exhausted and was nearly falling asleep on my couch. It was like eleven thirty and I'm sure that all he wanted to do was sleep. I guess he'll be sleeping here since my parents are away for the night doing God knows what.

"Are you feeling a bit better?" I asked, getting his attention just as he sat his phone on the coffee table.

He turned, looking up at me with a tired expression. "My vision is clearing up a bit," he slurred quietly, blinking rapidly. I smiled softly, bringing my arms around his neck and gazing up into his eyes. He seemed to immediately get amused, humming as he pressed his hands to my back, forcing my body closer to his.

"Where's your web, Spiderman?" I spoke softly to him, my face inches from his now.

Harry grinned wider, nudging his nose against mine. "It's in my pants," he laughed. He grabbed my wrists and before he could proceed I glanced at his hands for the second time today, seeing bruised knuckles and dirty finger nails with fresh dirt staining them. My eyes began to search the rest of him, now realizing the dirt stain on his shirt near the ends and the more I looked the faster my heart was beating.

My smile slid off my face like water falling from a waterfall. "Harry...," I began, immediate fear and panic flooding my nervous system.

"Yeah?" He frowned a little, looking confused.

I grabbed his hands, putting them up between us so he'd see what I'm looking at. When his eyes widened, I pushed him away from me, hands against his chest before I began to fume.

"What did you do!?" I screamed, knowing in my heart that it had to do something with his car and his vengeful urge to cause trouble in Derek's life like he's done to ours.

Harry groaned, arrogantly rolling his eyes and grabbing his head. "Stop fucking shouting," he snapped. "And I didn't do anything."

"You're lying!" I shouted to his displeasure. He winced, rubbing his temples. "Your hands are ones of fucking trouble, Harry. Bruised knuckles and dirty clothes!? What? You think I'm fucking stupid?!"

"Most of the time you are!" He fired back, instantly regretting his words as I began to scream in anger at him. He raised his hands in the air, trying to calm me down. My hands flew in the air while I talked and talked about how angry I am and how I need to know what he just did.

"Baby, stop," he tried, and I only went to open my mouth again but he shouted over me despite the headache I was surely giving him. "I can do what I fucking want, alright?! Stop fucking screaming at me like you're my mother!"

I felt myself shrink a little, thinking of all the bad things. So many bad things. "I'm worried about you! Damn it! Harry you're on your last strike! This is exactly what he wanted you to do!"

He paused, before he flat out started laughing. I frowned, feeling myself tear up. In case he hasn't noticed, he's been making me cry a bit more than usual. Derek is going to fire back, ruining my life with those fucking pictures. Harry's going to prison. My mom will disown me and my dad will never want to see my face again. I'll lose my friends and end up being a failure in life. Fuck, this is so bad right now.

"Well, he clearly didn't think this through, then." He chuckled, shaking his head. He looked at me, seeing my teary eyes, yet again it had no effect on how he was reacting to things. Harry did step forward to me, placing his hands on my cheek and stroking his thumbs over my warming skin. But he didn't mention my glassy eyes.

Angrily, I yelled, "No, you didn't think this through!" I was practically screaming in his face, knowing he hates that.

Harry inhaled deeply before lowering his voice. "Listen, beautiful. He can't prove it was me. Yeah, I have a record and he can use it against me, but I still have my fucked up car that he damaged, and probably left his finger prints on. He'll fuck himself over if he says my name," he explained lowly, controlling the volume of his voice. He seemed much sober than before, and more awake.

I thought about it, still thinking that Harry might be right. But he isn't right about him doing nothing in return. Derek might not go to the police, knowing what Harry knows, but he'll definitely screw me over. Tomorrow right when they wake up and see what Harry's done, or next week. Whenever and in whatever way he wants; I'm screwed.

I brought my hands up to my face, covering my eyes and shaking my head. I moved away from his touch, sniffling. "What did you do?" I asked quietly.

He seemed hesitant to answer me, but he did anyway. "I um...I broke some stuff with Niall in their backyard, and then fucked up their lawn. Pulled out a couple of shrubs and flowers."

"Oh, God have mercy," I winced, dropping my hands from my face. I looked up at him, worry still burning me alive with its painful trace of anxiety. Harry watched me with a frown on his face.

"Why are you so worried? He's not going to do anything. I just explained. And yeah I was a little too wasted, but I'm not stupid. I covered up all our footprints, I know," he defended himself, gently reaching for me, but I flinched away.

This is bad for me. Not Harry thankfully, and no one else. It's just coming back to bite me in the ass. No later than three days after Derek warned me, Harry's got himself into a mess and fought back. This is one of my deep, darkest secrets I've always regretted and it's coming back to ruin everything good in my life.

Harry's hands found my hips, pulling me to him. I was faced with him again, feeling too much right now. Emotions are suddenly too much.

"Relax, okay? Nothing is going to happen." I began to move away from him again, but his arms wrapped fully around me, locking me in place as he pressed his forehead against mine. "Stop moving away from me, baby."

Even if I wanted to be mad, I couldn't withstand his touch and when his lips kissed mine so sweetly. The faint taste of alcohol mixed with my own. I wanted to tell him, but I knew he wasn't fully stable right now. I know I'll have to tell Harry. I just know that before this gets too out of hand, I need to tell Harry about the pictures no matter how much it kills me to talk about it.

Our kiss deepened, my body slowly relaxing in into his. I felt his hands trail down my back, hands slipping underneath my shirt. His hands were warm against my skin, the touch still the one I yearned for. Sighing into his lips, I felt his tongue gently caress my bottom lip.

The peace was disturbed when a car door was sound, along with the heels that belong to my mother.

It was almost impossible how quickly the atmosphere can spin around like dice spinning on one end. Our heartbeats were rushed, an uncomfortably fast change in mood taking its toll on me. I've been having too much of those lately. I pushed Harry away from in half a second, both of our eyes wide from the realization that my parents are seconds away from that door; seconds away from busting my ass.

Without exchanging words I grabbed his hand and we sped up the stairs and to my bedroom, my body slamming onto the door causing it to shut. Gasping for air, I leaned against it, attempting to relax but knowing that if I don't get Harry out of here fast, I'm in deep shit. I thought it'd be a bit easy until Harry said:

"Fuck, I left my phone on the coffee table."
