Mai clenched her teeth.

"Why don't you want to remember?"

Mai opened her eyes to darkness hearing her own voice speak to her.

"You won't be in pain of not remembering anymore,"it continued,"You won't be in the dark, so why don't you want to remember?"
"If I remember, I have a feeling I will be in even more agony than I am in now,"she answered,"I'm scared. If I remember... Those people who were in my past... Just how much pain it gives me now not remembering makes me scared that the memories will be even worse."
"You'd rather be left in the dark? To not remember your past, not even the good memories?"
"I'm scared..."
"But, Lucy-"
"STOP CALLING ME THAT!"Mai shrieked,"It hurts! It hurts so much! I'm scared... I'm scared... So scared..."
She cried loudly, not being able to control herself,"They voices keep calling out for that name day after day..."her voice cracked,"I don't know any Lucy, and if this 'Lucy' was suppose to be me... I don't know her either. So just stop... Stop calling for me. I don't want to remember...."
"What about those people from your past? How do you think they'd feel?"
Mai jumped.
"Lucy, I wanted to tell you before-" the voice of the hurt man returned,"I love you."

"How do you think that person would feel?"

"I don't know who he is,"Mai defended,"His words are the first I remember, and I had wanted to remember him the mist out of all the voices. But he sounds to be in so much pain... Maybe more than I am.... He sounds as if he'd given up and he had been completely crushed, like he'd never go back to how he had been... It hurts..."

"It's louder than any of the other voices that you'd be able to recognize it instantly than the others."
