Watcher lore

I did the vexling lore a while ago, and now it's time for the Watcher lore!

Woo!

Apprentices/trainees

When a Watcher is first given powers, they are an Trainee Watcher, and have to pass exams to gain full use of powers. They borrow masks, and practice basic fighting, magic and Seeing. Apprentice watchers can be both made and true watchers, though they are split into different groups. All Apprentice Watchers have the same, limited powers (though true watchers are favoured for their increased talents later on)  including summoning watcher fire, simple telekinesis, Seeing close objects that aren't in physical sight, and creating basic natural blocks like cobble, black stone or amethyst. They are also trained in using obsidian weaponry, and how to use their magic to fight. After a year of training, on a specific festival, the Apprentices take their exams in everything they've learn, and those who pass are gifted with their own masks and outfits, and for made-Watchers, wings.

Made Watchers

Made Watchers are any Watchers who have become Watchers through wearing a Watcher Mask. They are normally former prisoners of the watchers, though there are some who choose the path of them. They are treated as lessers by most Watchers, and have less magic. Made Watchers  can create more blocks than apprentices - all kinds of stone blocks, minerals, obsidian, and some bedrock. Their fire is more dangerous, and is a darker purple shade than an apprentices. Made Watchers can See clearly within at least 100 blocks, and Watch for short amounts of time in worlds they've been in, or seen before.

All watchers are together for training, and then are blessed by each leader at the end of it.

'Casual' watchers

After completing training, made watchers can become casual watchers. They are the only watchers who are allowed to leave the watcher lands, and mostly work as spies in servers, and even other lands of magic. Most made watchers choose to stick to this, due to the unbinding nature, but they are still required to help if the other watchers are attacked or attacking. In fact, most of the Watcher's forces in battle are casual watchers, since anyone higher up the ranks and abilities are more suited to whatever their role is in the watcher empire. Casual watchers don't tend specialise in any area of magic, but still have more of it than trainees.

'Real' watchers

When a watcher wants to become a 'real' watcher, they choose a specific branch of watcher magic, as below, and do specific training of it until they become it. Made watchers can do this immediately after being a trainee, or, as most do, after some time as a casual watcher. However, all born watchers are forced to become 'real' watchers after being a  trainee.

All-creating

All-creating watchers train in summoning and making blocks and items. This can vary from any existent block, like bedrock or netherite, to their own unique things. Most modifiers, or players who create their own modded times, are all-creating watchers. As well as this, most all-creating watchers can also create their own mobs, whether permanently or just for a short while, or can code existing mobs into others. A few can change an object, or use build-edit level magic to duplicate parts of builds. The all-creating watchers built the entire Watcher Fortress. The greatest all-creating watchers can make entire worlds from nothing, and can manipulate worlds once made.

All-protecting watchers

All-protecting watchers are your 'classic' watchers. They study in Watching and affecting other worlds, and are the only kind of watcher that can change from their original animalistic watcher form to a humanoid one. Their powers include Watching other worlds for a sustained amount of time, changing game-modes with magic, removing and returning respawn, and all typical admin powers. The most powerful all protecting watchers can bring worlds to other versions of the game, whether forwards or backwards. The most famous example of this, and all-protecting watcher magic in general, is in the Evolution SMP. The leader of the All-Protecting watchers is also the most well-known, as the one that looks after the new watchers and greets newcomers to the world. They are the only leader who can change their form to a humanoid one, and is recognisable by their long braided white hair, even called Braid by other players.

All-seeing watchers

All-seeing watchers are often considered the lowest form of watchers, though many of them believe they are the greatest. Their power is Seeing, and many blind themselves, whether with blindfolds, intense light, or in some cases, gouging out their original eyes so they're stuck in a constant state of Seeing. All-seeing watchers also cut themselves with obsidian weaponry to create new eyes in which to constantly See through. They are also called the Devout, and the most powerful of them can see the past or future, whether of a particular player or in general. Every All-seeing Watcher lives within the Watcher Fortress, within completely dark rooms.

All-powerful watchers

All-powerful watchers are basically everyone else. They have no particular magic, but mostly work in the mind, or with players of other magics, such as Vexlings or Voidlings. They are known as Torturers, due to their ability to break into players minds and force them into reliving memories, hallucinating and more, as well as their morbid fascination about alternate magics, stealing them, replacing them with watcher magic, or torturous experimentation upon players with that magic. They mostly remain within the Watcher Fortress, and many work with prisoners and enemies of the watchers. All-powerful watchers also tend to have multiple pairs of wings, as this is their symbol.

The All-loving watcher

The watchers believe in a player with all the watcher magic who would reign over the entire land of the watchers: Grian. Many watchers, especially the leader of the All Protecting watchers, are infatuated with him, and are willing to do anything - death, blackmail, torture, force, destruction of worlds - to get Grian to join them. Their name, Xelqua, actually means all-loving, though Grian doesn't actually know this. Grian does not, under any circumstances, want to be the leader of the watchers.

Watcher punishment

Watchers don't permakill as a punishment. They consider murder to be the most worthless punishment, due to it's permanent and painless nature. However, it is used as a threat against friends or server mates of prisoners. Different watcher punishments include:

-Imprisonment

-forced to be a watcher

-marked with eyes and blinded so they See any torture in 3rd person

-torture

-blinded with a blindfold

-eyes removed

-death loops

-destruction of servers

-death or torture of friends

-trap worlds (like Last Life)

-memory wiping (of them or friends)

-breaking into minds

-constant talking and blaming inside their minds

-forcing friends to turn against them

-forced fighting between the prisoner and their best friend (Grian and Taurtis)

-forced use of watcher magic (particularly if they already have another kind of magic)

-experimentation

-forced animal mutations (Ranboo)

-exploitation of other fears

The leaders of the watcher

Each kind of magic is led by a different leader. They are all born watchers, and some of the first of them. The only watcher leader people see is the All-Protecting one, since they look after the trainees and casual watchers. Each watcher leader lives in one of the four towers in the corner of the fortress, but they meet to discuss in the middle tower. The top room of the central tower is that of the all-loving watcher, Grian, and where he stayed in his 'imprisonment' after evo.

Evolution of the watchers (nothing to do with the server)

Watchers and Endermen evolved from the same species, though a born watcher's skin is white, and covered in eyes, and an enderman's is black. The first watchers had limited powers, but the ability to break into other worlds and See were some of them. They tricked players into joining them, and speak in galactic, in the player's minds. They didn't wear masks, instead showing off their eternal sight for all to see.

Random watcher facts and lore:

-Ranboo is a born watcher who disobeyed, and was turned into half-enderman and banned from the land with a rubbish memory (hence the memory forgetting stuff in DSMP)

-The watchers and Vexlings have always been enemies, each destroying each others kingdom on various occasions.

-Watchers are actually blind

-hehehe EYES of ender
