Part 6 (Radar and Lukas)

Radar
"You will never truly belong..." Carrigan's harsh voice rang in his ear, but faded away as did the light. Now, he stood in a pitch black space. Although he seemed alone and unsure of where he was, he'd much prefer this silence than what he'd been listening to the past few minutes, maybe hours. Or was it days? It felt much longer.

"Radar?" He heard her voice. Jesse. But her tone wasn't violent. It wasn't angry, it wasn't distrustful.

It was welcoming. And loving.

"Does Radar.. seem.. waking up?" This time a male's voice. Jess? He seemed calm as well.

"Yeah.." Jesse again, "I hope so." Over time, their words became clearer. He then felt a hand brushing through his hair. He felt sort of achey and groggy. What's going on now? Is this a dream?

He tried to open his eyes. His blurred vision became clearer as he blinked. He felt a few tears drip from his eyes. Jesse smiled, "Finally, you're up." She wiped the tears from his face, "How do you feel?"

Radar was still confused. Why was she wiping his tears? Why is he laying with his head in her lap? Had she forgotten what she said? He started trembling.

Jesse continued running her hand through his hair, "Don't worry, Radar. I can tell you're confused. What you saw just now was a nightmare. It wasn't real."

But it felt so real.. "Do you remember the spider? It spat goop on you, and it put you into a state of your worst nightmare."

My worst nightmare? Radar gaped. That would make sense.. He stared up into Jesse's kind eyes. They weren't like they were in his illusion. "You mean it?" She nodded. "Try to remember." He pondered on their words for a moment when all his memories came back all at once. He remembered!

Lukas stirred beside him and Radar sat up. Was Lukas infected too then? He looked Jess, who cradled an unconscious Petra in his arms. And Petra? But how? She's the last one I'd expect to get infected.

Lukas
He grumbled. Then he felt two slightly chilly hands patting his cheeks to awaken him. Those must be Jesse's hands. Chilly, as usual.

Poor Jesse. How could this happen to us? Lukas blinked a few times as tears dropped from his eyes. Just as he suspected, he lay in Jesse's lap. "Hey there." She smiled comfortingly at him. He started sobbing. "I'm so sorry. You don't hate me because of our loss, do you?" He sat up and plead while sobbing, "Please. Tell me if there's anything I can do for you to help you, anything at all. We can make it through this together!"

"Whoa there," Jess laughed, "What were you dreaming about?"

Lukas blinked, "Dreaming?" He looked to Jesse, "What does he mean?"

"It was an illusion from the spider." She wiped his tears. "We're all okay."

It was just a nightmare? Our baby is okay! He sighed and sniffled, "Thank goodness! We're all okay." He repeated as he lowered to lay on his stomach and hugged Jesse's torso. He cried some more, but this time out of relief as his memories came back. It really was fake..

"Jeez, Jesse." Jess laughed loudly, "My fiancé cries less than your husband!"

He glanced up to see Jesse reach out and pull Radar into a hug. "Don't judge them. You don't know what they went through."

Petra shrieked causing everyone to jump and glance in her direction, but Lukas stayed put.

Jess sighed, "Shhh it's alright." She opened her eyes. "You're... alive? But how? I thought.."

"It was an illusion." Jess said, "Whatever you saw in there was fake." She sighed, "Oh thank goodness!!" She wiggled her fingers, then slowly sat up. "Yes! I can move!" She stood up and lifted Miss Butter from Jess' side. She let out battle calls as she sliced her beloved sword through the air, moving her now energetic body all around. After a bit, she seemed satisfied and put Miss Butter away.

Jess stood up from the floor just in time for Petra to race in his direction and tackle him to the floor.

Lukas laughed. Jess totally deserved that for tackling him to the floor shortly before leaving Beacontown.

"Loser. You scared me!" She punched him across the face. "Hey, Hey! That wasn't my fault!"
Her gaze softened, "I know." Then she did what no one expected. She started showering him with kisses, starting with where she punched him just seconds earlier.

"I guess this is leaving all of us with our emotions all wack." Radar laughed.

"Yeah." Lukas agreed, then turned back to Jesse, snuggling up close, ear to her belly to listen for any movement.

After a bit, Petra stood back up, "Now, let's get our treasure! We defeated the beast! Let's get what we deserve!"

Radar slowly stood. Jess reluctantly got up. He looked slightly bummed out that his extra attention from Petra ended so soon.

"Uh, Lukas." Jesse tapped his shoulder. We should get going. They're waiting on us.."

"But I don't wanna get up." He mumbled.

"Well I want you to get up!" Petra stomped over and kicked his rib cage. He yelped in surprise and pain and rolled to his back.

Jess busted out laughing and Jesse's hands flew to her mouth to cover her smile.

"Are you okay?" Radar gasped.

Lukas grunted, "Yup."

"Well if you don't get up now someone else is gonna have to carry you once I'm through with you. We gotta get going before some other magic overpowers us." Petra crossed her arms.

"She has a point. We don't want to risk another spell taking us over." Jess agreed.

Jesse and Radar helped Lukas to his feet, and they continued to the end of the hall. Suddenly, the walls creaked.

"That doesn't sound good." Radar's voice shook.

"The walls are going to close in!" Jess yelled. "Remember when we first got in this room? The only thing we figured out was that these two outer walls are separated from the rest."

The walls creaked some more, then Jess' words came true. They moved slowly in.

"No, no, no, no! This can't be happening!" Petra shrieked. She started pacing.

Jesse yelled, "Then let's find a way out of this room before this room finds a way to take us out!"

They split up in five different directions, feeling the walls, and observing everything around them.

Petra still looked fearful. Which was understandable considering their circumstance. But the fact that Petra was the one panicking the most was peculiar. Petra raced wall to wall, banging on them. "Zombies? Awesome! Creepers? Cool! Heck, even Endermen are ideal compared to this!"

They could find no solution.

The walls closed in tighter and tighter, giving them little wiggle room.

Petra ran to the center and covered her ears with her hands as if escaping the sound of the walls closing in meant they were no longer moving. "Petra is claustrophobic." Jess explained. "That's why she's freaking out so much, and why she'd much rather be out in the wild, open world than a building."

"That explains a lot." Radar continued feeling the walls, "At least now she seems more human in my eyes. I believed since I met her that she wasn't really afraid of anything."

Lukas took the initiative to focus back on the walls, "Looks like we have no other solution." Lukas called out, "So I'm going to give this a shot." He pulled an axe out, raising it over his head.

"Let's hope it works." Radar gritted his teeth. "Cause if it doesn't, we'll be human pancakes here in about ten seconds."
