"You already know me, I'm Max," Max said and I gulped nodding. 

"Look, everything will be okay, you're with us now, you're safe. I promise," She said and I nodded.

"Does she even know what you're saying, Max?" The boy with the dull eyes asked and I looked down. I understood, for the most part, but I didn't know how to respond, I only knew those few words. I heard a sigh come out of Max after the boy asked and she made me look at her again.

"If she doesn't that's okay, that's why we are here to help her. Welcome to the family sister," Max said and smiled. I copied what she did and smiled as well.

"Look at that!! She's smiling! She's smiling!!! YAY!!!!!" The energetic girl screamed and I jerked my body when she did. Once she saw that she instantly quieted down. She was still smiling though. 

"How about we introduce ourselves to her, we won't be much of a family if we don't," The boy with the long hair said. 

"Oh yeah, forgot about that. Well, you already know that I am Max, the boy with the long black hair is Fang, the tall one over there is Iggy, the little boy there is Gasman but we call him Gazzy for short, the little girl there is Angel, she's shy, the last but not least is that girl there, her name is Nudge. Maybe the first thing we teach you could be how to say our names," Max said and I nodded smiling. It sounded like a good idea. 

"Me first! My name is the easiest to learn." Iggy said as he started to get up. I suddenly started to get scared because of how tall he was. 

"Oh! Don't worry, just cause I'm tall doesn't mean I'm gonna hurt you. So stay calm, I'm friendly." He said as he got to me. I nodded and stood next to Max as he started to speak again.

"Here, it's gonna be hard but, try not to scream while you talk. I want you to do the same thing as I do when I move my mouth and make sounds okay?" He nodded towards me and I nodded back not really sure what he was saying. 

"Now watch me and try to say Ig-"

"EEeIIG," I watched as the group covered their ears and heard Nudge start to laugh.

"At least she can make the "G" sound." Nudge laughed and walked up to me. I flinched when she brought her hands up to me and she quickly put them down.

"I'm sorry! Look, like Iggy said, you shouldn't scream. You'll hurt your throat like that." She said as she rested her hand on my neck. I then felt her start to rub it and I heard her tell me to open my mouth. I did as she asked and I then heard Angel coming over to me.

"Hello! I'm Angel, I just need you to look into my eyes and just repeat after me, okay?" She said and I nodded. I looked at her in the eyes and suddenly started to feel dizzy. 

"Ig-"

"Eeeig-"

"Gy-"

"Gee" I was confused as I repeated after her. I didn't know how she was making me speak. Once she was done and she turned away from me quickly I suddenly didn't feel as dizzy anymore. I whined and stepped back.

"Angel, let her learn at her own pace." I heard Max say and Angel just giggled.

"Sorry, Angel can make anyone do what she wants. But, hey! You didn't scream this time!" Max said and I got happy about that. I copied the way she moved her mouth and everyone gasped. I got worried and quickly closed my mouth. Why were they staring?

"Did you guys see what I see?" I heard Gazz say and I ducked my head.

"She's one of us, you know this. We shouldn't judge a new member of the family." I heard Fang say and I felt someone touch my shoulder. I looked up and seen Fang. 

"Do what you did before, copy what Max did." I did what he said and I opened my mouth feeling the muscles in my cheeks pull. 

"I knew it!!!!! She haves fangs!!!!!" Nudge yelled.

I flinched out of habit and I heard one of them hurriedly come over to me. It was Iggy, the one with the funny name. Now that I mention it, he seems..off..in away. I felt him pat my back and I couldn't wait any longer and so I did what he did to me and pat his arm. I heard him chuckle and he looked over my way.

"Yeah?" He asked me and I pointed to his eyes. He didn't seem to react when I did that and I blew air out of my nose is a huff and pointed to his eyes again.

"Iggy, she pointing to your eyes..." Max said and she sounded sad? 

"OH! Oh...uh yeah, I'm blind, I can't see. As in I can't see what you're doing or whatever anyone is doing." He said and scratched the back of his head. I then whimpered and let my hand fall down to my side. I wanted to say something but with my inability to actually speak, I couldn't. So, instead, I did the best thing that I could think of. 

I patted his arm.

"Hey, it's okay, I've been like this for as long as I could remember. You don't need to feel sorry for me." He said and smiled towards to where I think he believed I was. I smiled softly and turned back over to the rest of the group.

"Hey now, that we have introductions covered. How about we teach her how to read? Or maybe write? O-or-"

"Now calm down Nudge, she can barely speak. We're gonna have to teach her from the beginning, like a baby." Max said and I got confused and felt lost in their conversation. Read? Write? Baby? I guess my confusion was clear as day since Fang chuckled and walked over to me.

"What they mean is that we are going to teach you how to do everything that we do, from speaking to combat, it's what family is for," Fang said and I felt heat come to face quickly. He was so nice, and calm. I heard the girls laugh and so I smiled big again. 

I think I'm going to like it here.
