CHAPTER 2

I smirked down at the name displayed on my screen, forgetting all the others, I quickly swipe into our messages to be greeted with a message from him already.

Sammy: hey eviee :)

Skye's eyes grew in size as she read the message, realizing who it was. "Well, that's a surprise."

You may all be wondering, who is Sammy Sandars?

Well, he's my greatest enemy of all time if you ask me.

Growing up our parents hated each other, for some unknown reason, I was never told details just that they really just hate the Sandars. That being said, getting thrown in the same school with Sammy I soon began to have a dislike toward him with all his snarky and sarcastic comments.

We've always had a rival, it was just known throughout the school. We tried not to communicate as much as we could, but it's kind of hard when Sammy has a big ass mouth that doesn't know how to shut up.

Pretty ironic how our names ended up both Sam and Sammy.

My parents were pissed when they found out they named their child the same as their rival.

Embarrassing, I know.

"This asshole is going to wish he never downloaded the app." I started to type back, a grin playing on my lips.

Skye was right, this definitely is taking my mind off the breakup.

"Sam, what are you doing?"

"I'm going to give him a taste of his own medicine. He's treated me like shit for how long?" I cocked an eyebrow toward her before pressing send.

Eviee: Hey Sammy!

"Okay, but that doesn't answer my question." Skye pressed further making me narrow my eyes on her.

"I'm just going to mess with him, that's all. Message him here and there. Flirty comments." I glanced down at the screen as I watched the three little dots, signaling he was typing.

"Okay, okay. Not judging, just don't get caught." She plopped her hands on her thighs before getting up and throwing a blanket and pillow on the floor. "I'm sleeping on your floor."

"My floor?" I flickered my eyes onto the floor then back at Skye who shrugged a shoulder carelessly.

"Yeah, it's comfy. Have fun sexting Sammy." She winked in my direction, making me roll my eyes as I flopped down onto my back to stare at the ceiling.

"Go to bed," I demanded, turning over to turn the lamp off from my bedside table.

Darkness surrounded us with only the TV being the only light. I glanced down at Skye who was fully sprawled out on my bedroom floor, and I really didn't understand how she was so comfy but didn't ask questions.

All my mind could think about was how exciting it was going to be to play Sammy.

"Did they win yet?" I groan, leaning on the metal fence in front of me making it rattle as I did so.

I looked out in the distance as the football players were all huddled up in a group by the benches, and I sighed at how long this was taking. I only came to the school's football games because of Skye. She was a cheerleader, and frankly, my only friend in high school.

"This is the homecoming game, Sam. It's going to last a while." Skye looked over at the leaderboard before brushing a hair behind her ear, "It's not even halftime yet."

I groaned, stepping away from the fence. Skye laughed at my reaction as she shook her head in amusement, but was soon called back by the team to do another cheer. I watched as the cheerleaders started another cheer, and I only ever clapped for Skye.

I backed up once more, about to turn around until I was met with someone towering above me. My eyes trailed up the chest of a person wearing football gear, which really confused me since all the football players were on the field.

"Came here alone again, huh?" Sammy's eyes gleamed with amusement as he looked upon me. His stupid smug smirk tugged at his lips as a deep shade of brown hair was all messy from wearing a helmet the whole night.

"Wow, you're still playing the sidelines, huh?" I pouted my bottom lip out, making Sammy scowl at my comment back.

"Actually, me being such the amazing player that I am, was told to get water for the rest of the boys." He crossed his arms in front of his chest, trying to stand his ground but all I did was scoff at him.

"You being an amazing player, yeah? Is that why you've been benched the whole game?" I tilted my head to the side, with a grin playing on my lips.

Sammy's mouth opened to respond but was soon caught off by the coach yelling his name across the field. Sammy closed his eyes in annoyance before stepping past me, and through the gate of the fence to the field.

A smug smirk was now playing on my lips.

I loved getting the last word.

But, of course, he stopped in his tracks to turn around to face me. "Looks like someone can't keep their eyes off me, hm?" He winked as he turned around to complete his jog back to the coach.

That little fucker.

"It's kind of hard not to stare when you're not even in the game!" I called back, but he didn't hear since he was so far away. I huffed before returning back to my seat in the bleachers.

I sat on the cold metal bleachers for what felt like forever. It turned to fall, which didn't help any as the nights were chilly and everyone around me had blankets. Thankfully, I was smart today and brought a blanket as well to wrap myself in. I even bought hot chocolate at the stand where they sold drinks and food.

And that says a lot, I hated contributing to this dumb ass school.

Soon enough, the game was over and we had won.

It was surprising, to say the least, our school usually was terrible at football but I guess the football team sniffed too much smelling salt in the locker room and got hyped enough to beat our rival school.

I watched as Skye was searching for me in the bleachers, and I ran down each one to go meet up with her on the track. I sprang into her arms, and we spent around very dramatically.

Maybe this is why we don't have other friends.

"You were the best cheerleader on the team!" I exclaimed, jumping up and down from the adrenaline of the football game being over.

Yes, you heard right, I could care less if they won.

"Hey!" Stacy squealed, making me whip my head in her direction as a scowl was on her face.

"Oh no, such a misunderstanding. You were great too." I gave her a thumbs up, but my words came off in a sarcastic tone.

"Whatever freak." She snapped before walking away into the crowd that was leaving.

"Once a bitch, always a bitch." Skye threw her arm around my neck as we walked side by side to the car in the parking lot.

We got to the car and were soon speeding off down the road. Far, far away from the school.

I pull my phone out to kill time, remembering I hadn't checked what Sammy had said back last night. I clicked on the tiny app that had a red heart on it, and it brought me straight back to our messages.

Sammy: your name is cute

I so badly wanted to throw a sarcastic comment back, but knew that's not what Eviee would do. Instead, I responded with a different approach.

Eviee: Why thank you, kind sir, I guess Sammy isn't too bad of a name either

I hit send, and place my phone down with Skye eyeing me suspiciously. "What did he say?"

She knows me too well.

"Just liked Eviee's name." I grinned, reaching over to the radio to turn it on.

"And what did you say back?"

"That his name wasn't too bad either," I replied, but Skye slammed on the brakes making me swing forward with wide eyes on the road.

"What the hell, Skye?!"

"You have no game." She scolded me as we sat in the middle of the road, and I frantically looked behind us as car headlights were approaching.

"Skye, drive!" I waved a hand in the direction of the road, making her eyes move back to the road as she started to go once more.

"Okay, listen, if you want to mess with him so badly, you have to know what you're doing." She explained as we turned onto my street, and I started to play with the ends of my jacket.

"Then what do I say?" I raise my phone to see another message from him.

Sammy: what brings you to this app filled with chaos?

I scrunched my eyebrows together and raised my phone to Skye as she squinted her eyes at the screen.

"You guys are boring. I thought this was going to be juicy shit?" She moved her eyes away as her eyes searched for her purse, "Also, what happened to one day?"

"Technically it wasn't one day, because I got the app at 12am." I corrected her, which made her throw a death glare at me.

"Get out." She joked, and I laughed in response as I swung the car door open. I stepped foot out of the car and waved bye to my best friend.

She waved back as I shut the door, and started to pull out of the driveway with her headlights blinding me as she did. I turn on my feet and make my way up the concrete pathway to my front door.

Eviee: Chaos brought me to this app

I hit send before opening the door to my house. The house was quiet with my parents sleeping soundly upstairs most likely, and I slowly made my way up the stairs to my bedroom.

Sammy: oh I love chaos, tell me more :)

His messages appeared on my phone, and I rolled my eyes at his response.

Of course this fool loves chaos. He's a flipping psychopath.
