CHAPTER 15

"How is this an outing, Skye?" I groaned as I was looking out the window at Ryan's house, "It sure does look like we're at your man's house."

"Yeah...about that. We were going to the movies, but decided that shit is boring and we should make our own movie night tonight in his basement." She smiled with innocence, but all I did was slowly turn my attention to her like she was crazy.

I blinked a few times at her words, processing them before taking a deep breath.

This woman is absolutely psycho. Why invite me to your boyfriend's house if you're just going to cuddle up on the couch with him?

"Tell me why I'm here again?"

"Because Sam! Listen, both Ryan and I know how sad you are, so we're trying to be the people you spend time with instead of your thoughts."

"You know," I stared at her for a moment as I opened my mouth then closed it again as I was in thought, "That's very nice, but I don't want to be dragged along. You two should have time alone."

"Oh trust me, we find our time alone." A smirk played on her lips as she reached for her purse from behind her seat.

"Noted." I stared at her in pure disgust as I scrunched my face up before opening the car door to be met with the October air.

The leaves were orange mixed with yellows that surrounded Ryan's home, but his house stood out with it being the white brick.

No cars were in the driveway so I guess his parents weren't home? How does he get so lucky to have his parents always out and about when he has his girlfriend over, or even friends in that matter?

My Mother would so be up in my business if I had the opposite gender over.

Even back when Travis was with me, she would be in my business but when things got bad...she saw the change. In him and me. She didn't like it much, and would always try to have talks with me about how boys can be assholes, and not put up with their shit.

Her words, not mine, but I still agree with it.

Boys can be assholes.

Suddenly a car pulls into the driveway making my heart stop in place if it was his parents, but no. I was met with the eyes of Sammy Sandars. I could visibly tell once he parked his car that he wasn't too happy about this either.

"I'm going to kill both Skye and Ryan," I mumbled to myself as I stomped toward the black car with him now getting out.

"Well, hello to you too." He teased as I stood under him with arms crossed.

"Why are you here?" I got straight to the point, looking over my shoulder as I was still waiting on Skye.

Her eyes met mine, and once they did, she gave me an innocent smile before closing her car door to walk up to the both of us.

"Because, huh, maybe this is my best friend's house?" He tilted his head with a pleased smile on his face. He closed the door and started to walk up the pavement to Ryan's home, "Why are you here?"

"Because this is my best friend's boyfriend's house," I say, thinking twice about that sentence because honestly, what the hell? It's another one of Skye's crazy plans of wanting me to hang out with her and her boyfriend.

Which don't get me wrong, I love her for including me, but I'd really hate to barge into their alone time.

Wait a minute...never mind about that. Apparently they get plenty of alone time.

"So you're here to drop Skye off?" He questioned as we all reached the front porch.

"Don't be silly, Sammy. Sam is in on our movie night tonight." Skye added in a casual tone, making him snap his attention back to her.

"So, I'm going to have to spend yet another day with her?" He glanced his eyes at me, and I narrowed mine right back as he scrunched his nose up acting as if he was disgusted.

"Shut up, Ryan and I planned such a fun time. Don't be selfish! We put so much hard work into this day." She pointed a finger in his face dramatically, making him flinch back with his arms to his side.

"Hard work?" He tilted his head slightly, questioning her and she raised her eyebrows right back at him.

"I'm not the person to question or get an attitude with."

I smiled in satisfaction right at Sammy. His eyes flickered between the both of us, unsure what was going on and all I did was shrug.

"Yeah, she's my best friend," I added, before raising my hand to knock on the door, but as soon as I did the door had opened revealing Ryan in the doorway.

His brown hair was a mess, but his face didn't look tired one bit. As soon as his eyes caught onto Skye, they lit up. He leaned against the doorway, looking at the rest of us now, and shook his head slightly.

"Y'all do know, I could hear your loud voices behind the door."

"Don't act like you're not used to it." Skye rolled her eyes, skipping into the doorway as she wrapped her arms around his neck with him letting out a chuckle.

"I missed you." He breathed in her scent as Sammy and I just stood right beside each other on the front porch waiting for the two love birds to be done with whatever they were doing.

Sammy glanced at me then let out a sigh as he ran his hand through his hair, "How long does this last?"

"You're asking me like I know?"

"Well, you did say she was your best friend." His famous smirk played at his lips mocking what I said earlier. My eyes fell into a glare, but he was clearly amused by it.

"You act like we can't stop it." I shook my head with a slight shake before waving my hands in the air, "Alright alright, where to next?"

The two stepped away, and I smiled as Skye threw a glare in my direction.

"The basement." Ryan nodded his head down the hall.

"Can Sam be your first victim?" Sammy pushed on my back, making me stumble into the house.

I quickly snapped my head back with narrowed eyes, and he acted all innocent as he looked away from me.

"Oh shit, I didn't mean for it to come out that creepy." Ryan chuckled as we all followed him down the same stairs from the party a few weeks back.

Except this time it wasn't filled with crowds of people, it was just us four as...friends?

I don't really consider Sammy as a friend, but I guess we're friendenemies now. Whatever that must mean.

We finally reach the end of the steps to be greeted by Ryan's basement. The couch in the corner was an L-shaped couch, and it was covered in blankets and pillows, the table from before was still placed near the couch with alcohol.

Ryan walked further and flopped down onto the couch as he reached to grab the remote, "Make yourselves at home, well, Sam and Skye."

"This is what your hard work was today, Skye?" Sammy joked, walking over to the couch.

"Watch it! I told Ryan to make it cozy, so yes, look at all the blankets he put out for us." Skye defended herself as she waved her hand toward the couch.

I laughed as Skye and I followed the two boys. Skye plopped right beside Ryan, and as soon as she did, he put his arm around her shoulders. I ended up sitting in the corner next to Sammy.

"What's the movie for tonight?"

"A scary one, duh," Skye replied, snatching the remote out of Ryan's hands to turn the giant TV on.

I was quite impressed with his basement. There were things I hadn't noticed before that now I was. He had a giant TV for one, with it hanging on the wall right in front of us along with his games right below it on the TV stand.

He had many games displayed along with his PS5, which probably wasn't there during the party because people love to steal.

I leaned farther back into the couch as I made myself more comfortable then remembered the fact that Sammy doesn't believe in ghosts.

I can so use this to my advantage.

"I think we should watch paranormal activity." I grinned, knowing that the movie was going to scare the shit out of Sammy, and finally make him believe.

"Yeah? Like anything in that movie is real." Sammy scoffed receiving a gasp from Skye and me.

Me of course having to act since he didn't know I knew that fact about him.

"You're fucking kidding, right?" Skye looked as if Sammy was crazy before clicking on multiple buttons on the remote.

Before I knew it, paranormal activity was paused on the screen.

"What can I say? I'm a nonbeliever." He shrugged, staring straight ahead at the screen.

"I always knew something was wrong with you." I shook my head, grabbing onto a random blanket from the side and kicking my Converse off. I curled up into my blanket, enjoying the warmth it brought me.

"We all know something is wrong with Sammy," Ryan jumped up on his feet, "I'm grabbing snacks, anyone want drinks?" He glanced around at each of us as he awaited answers.

"Drinks like soda? Or drinks as in alcohol?" Skye smirked, and I already knew what was going to come out of this.

The both of them drunk.

"Remind me again, why are we here?" I asked, glancing toward Sammy who sat beside me and was staring right at Skye and Ryan feeding each other popcorn.

Bottles of alcohol were scattered across the coffee table along with snacks and popcorn. We were already halfway through the movie and Ryan and Skye both decided to take about three shots each before the movie even started.

For me and Sammy, we did not.

Surprisingly.

At this point I'm going to need a shot while watching the two laugh uncontrollably, and very loudly at the way they were feeding each other popcorn.

"You know, I asked myself the same question multiple times," Sammy replied, not taking his eyes off the two before they realized we were staring them down.

"What?! Can I not touch my man?" Skye exclaimed as she ran her hand down his chest, and Ryan was loving every second of it.

"Oh, you can touch me." Ryan winked at her which made her giggle uncontrollably before standing up. She stumbled back as she lowered her hand to Ryan.

"Let's go somewhere more private since we have haters." She snapped her attention to me and Sammy then turned back to Ryan as she awaited him to stand with her.

He did so, and a smirk was plastered on his face as he took her hand.

"Later losers." Ryan put a peace sign out with slurred words then decided to pull on Skye's arm toward the steps to go up to his bedroom.

I watched not knowing what to say or do, my mouth opened slightly but I was soon cut off by Sammy speaking up.

"Don't have too much fun," Sammy yelled, receiving laughter from the stairwell.

"But that's not fun!" Ryan called down, and those were the last words from the two before the door up at the top closed leaving Sammy and me alone.

I sighed, turning my eyes toward the giant TV displaying the only light, "Well, I guess back to the movie."

"It's not even scary, I think we should watch something else."

"Yeah, no. You only think that because you've been on your phone half the time." I pointed at him which was true. I received a few messages from Sammy on Matched but wasn't able to reply as much due to the fact we were right next to each other.

"Not true..." he trailed out, throwing his phone to the side as he leaned back into the couch more, "See? I'm paying attention." He waved his hand toward the screen, proving his point.

"Uh-huh," I glanced toward him as I inspected his face then an idea came to mind. My face lit up with a huge smile appearing on my lips.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Sammy leaned farther away from me with his nose scrunching up in confusion and all I did was shrug.

"Oh, just an idea." I say, sitting up more, placing my hands on my legs, "If this movie is so boring for you, I think we should make a game out of it."

"A game?"

"Yeah! A drinking game." I playfully wiggled my eyebrows, receiving an eye roll from him.

"Really?" He looked at me through his eyelashes, shaking his head slightly, "You've only drunk like twice and all of a sudden you're an alcoholic."

"Shut up!" I pushed his shoulder playfully with both of our laughter filling the room, "I'm just trying to pass time with a boring person."

"Boring person? Excuse me?"

"Yeah, you. I rarely see you do anything interesting."

"For your information, I'm a badass who literally lives the most interesting life there is." He put his hand up, defending himself and I shook my head.

"Prove it."

"Why all of a sudden are you trying to be fun?" He tilted his head as he reached for the bottle of vodka.

"Why not?" I shrugged as I pulled two shot glasses towards us on the coffee table, "Now, let's see...how should the game go?"

"Well, it was your idea."

"Okay, and you're participating."

"Fair enough," Sammy took the cap off of the bottle and poured the liquid into both of the shots. "How about...whoever shows any slight signs of being scared they drink?" He suggested, and I scrunched my face up at his comment.

"Are you trying to be the only sober one?"

"Yeah, that's the point." He chuckled deeply, making me scoff as I picked up my shot.

"Whatever, it's getting to the scary shit anyway. Cheers to a drinking game." I grinned as I raised my glass toward him, making him pick his to cling it against mine.

"Let's take two shots before the game." He says before throwing his glass back.
