nova's pov
The drama between Holly, Tiffiany, and Zoe had died down a few weeks later. But Zoe no longer hung out with the two mean girls. Zoe was no longer her quiet self though. Who am I kidding? Was that ever truly her? She started hanging out with a girl who dyed half of her hair pink and a boy whose hair color seemed to change every week. I was surprised he still had a full set of hair that always managed to appear fluffy.
Me on the other hand I still didn't really have any one to call my friend. I mean if Justin counted then he was my only friend. All he ever does is hit on me and then pretend he's the best boyfriend to ever exist when Holly is back by his side. So yea I didn't really have any friends and I already have been at this school for two months.
"Nova?" Justin asked gently tapping my shoulder from behind.
"What now?"
"Are you sitting on sugar?"
"No, what kind of idiot sits on sugar?"
"An idiot with a sweet arse like yours," he winks.
I roll my eyes in disgust. "Justin that was the worse pickup line yet. I didn't think they could get any worse. But you impressed me today and not in a good way."
"Don't lie babygirl you love them."
"The only thing I love is myself."
"This is why you don't have friends Nova," he says pouting his bottom lip.
"The reason I don't have friends is because no one can handle a queen like me."
"Then I'd like to be the first to put my key in your ignition," he smirks.
"Justin like I'm sure I've said plenty of times I am getting closer and closer to wanting to chop off your manhood. But now I am willing to do it more than ever. If you want to put your key in someone's ignition go to the many girls you've done it with. I have standards and you don't meet my standards," I remark before turning around in my seat.
A smile rises to my lips when he doesn't come up with a comeback that makes me feel worthless. His comebacks never were nice. I guess no one's is but his especially always gets a snicker from Holly which means it probably was rude and crossing the line.
I feel a tap on my shoulder again.
I snap my head in his direction. "Justin I thought I told you to leave me alone."
"I know Nova. But I have a proposal to make."
"I barely want to talk to you, why would I want to then get married to you?"
He scoffs. "Proposal also means idea. And I have an idea I'd like to say."
"Oh that's where all the smoke by your head came from," I snicker.
He exhales slowly. "Nova can you for once be nice to me. I'm trying here and all you do is treat me like shit in return. I only bothered you because I thought you were nice someone I could finally talk to and actually enjoy their company. But now I know I was wrong and I hate being wrong but I guess I have to face the facts," he says before ignoring my gaze.
I try to get Justin's attention repeatedly but fail miserably. I'm glad when the bell rings in what feels like forever. Justin is the first one out of the classroom, no shocker there. I never realized how mean I was. He was right I was the reason I didn't have friends.
"Nova," Zoe says distracting me from my thoughts.
I furrow my eyebrows confused as to why she was talking to me. I nod my head a few moments later to acknowledge her presence before I let my thoughts completely assume me.
"You look nice today," she smiles.
I look down at my black shirt that was slightly too small, my dark washed jeans, and black converse. I knew she was lying but I offered her the best fake smile I could muster up anyway and gave a quick 'thank you' as well.
"Do you want to sit with us?"
"Who's us?"
"Me, Micheal, and Melanie."
"I think I'll have to pass. I promised the Liberian my lunch period today to organize books on the shelves," I said sucking in my cheek hoping she would believe my horrible lie.
"That's so nice of you. Maybe another day then," she smiled at me before walking away.
I quickly grabbed my lunch from the cafeteria before making my way to the school's library upstairs. I ate my food on the way since food wasn't allowed inside.
Once I walk in I spot Justin with a pencil in hand, biting his lip in concentration. I will admit that it was an attractive sight but he is slightly annoying and will forever be that way.
Without realizing what I'm doing my legs start to walk over to him. I stand there for a few minutes before his eyes peak up from his textbook. I nervously gulp playing with the ends of my hair.
"How can I help you?" he says slightly annoyed.
"I wanted to hear your proposal."
"It's too late for that. Now if you excuse me I have to get back to studying for my midterm," he says looking back down at his textbook.
"Justin please, don't make me beg."
"I would actually like if you begged and annoyed me for once," he grinned looking back up at me.
"Justin please tell me your proposal," I say mentally rolling my eyes while doing so.
He smiled. "I think we should go on a bonding road trip."
"What would your girlfriend say if she knew I was going to be spending quite some time alone with you?" I ask.
"Who cares? She doesn't control me and she is perfectly aware of that. So what do say? Are you in Nova Grayston?"
"I'm not going on a road trip with you. I would hate to be stick in a car with you for who knows how long and where you could consistently annoy me until no end."
"What if I supply you with pizza, snacks, and any beverage you would like to drink?"
"Then of course I'll come, you better not hit on me though or I will chop your balls off and leave you out in the wilderness."
"I think that's the nicest thing you have said to me," he grins widely.
"Whatever. When does this road trip begin?"
"Tonight!" he exclaims.
"Woah there. It's literally a Thursday and a school night. You are terrible at this it should be a Friday."
"I don't want to go home tonight though," he said giving me the cutest face I've ever seen.
"Fine," I huff giving in.
"I don't have a car though," I sign.
"I have my 2012 Toyota."
"I didn't need to know the model year," I laugh.
"Whatever," he says grinning like a child.
"Could we leave right now Nova?"
"Don't you a very important midterm test today?"
"I could careless about a stupid midterm that isn't going to get me any where in life. If I could be a high school drop-out I would already be one. No college is going to want me, I'm positive I have more zeros on my report than the amount the college makes every year off of its students."
"I'm sure you're not that bad Justin."
"I could be smart if I tried but I have no good reason to try."
"It's never too late to start caring. I could tutor you."
"I don't need a tutor. What I do need to do is get the hell out of here. If you still want to go on this road trip you should follow me."
"I've never gotten a cut on my record," I whine.
"Live a little Nova. It's not everyday Justin offers to spend a road trip with you."
I roll my eyes. "You sound like an even bigger conceited idiot when you talk in third person."
"Are you still in or are you going to continue to bully me?"
"I don't bully you," I roll my eyes.
"Uh, yea you do."
"I'm just too much of a queen for you."
He chuckles while getting up from his chair. He holds out his hand for me to take. I take his hand in mine blushing when our hands make contact.
A good ten minutes later we make it to the school's parking lot. We find his car rather quickly surprisingly he opens the car door for me before he got in, I thank him of course since I knew he probably would never do this again.
"What kind of music do you like?"
"I have a CD in my bag it's 5 seconds of summer."
"You couldn't have brought better music?"
"It's their new album, watch you're going to love it."
"I highly doubt it."
"Just put it in," I say handing him the CD.
"So do you want to play twenty questions? To start off this long journey?"
"Yea, sure. I'll start. Why did you want to bring me on this road trip?" I question.
"I like you. I figured it would be a good way to trap you somewhere with me without coming across as creepy or desperate but a nice way of saying hey I want to be your friend."
"Why did you agree to come with me?"
"The food obviously, and to see how annoying you can truly be."
"Where are we going?"
"To Florida."
"You're out of your mind."
"How? It's beautiful there."
"Isn't that like a nine hour drive from New York?"
"Hey, already got a turn."
I groan. "Just say your question then."
"Do you think I can prove to you during this weekend that I'm worthy of your standards?"
I hesitate before answering "I hope not."
"Why do you date Holly if you always cheat on her?"
He gulps his adam's apple popping out. "I don't know honestly."
"What would you do if I don't annoy you during this weekend?"
"I'll kiss you. Heck I'll French kiss you because it's never going to happen."
"That was a little harsh."
I shrug my shoulders. "What would you do I pushed you into a fire?"
"Whoa. Those type of questions don't count you psychopath."
"Fine. Then-"
"You also lost a turn. So what would you do if I kissed you right now?"
"I would slap you all the way to Antarctica."
He leans in before I can dodge it and pecks my lips. I make a face of disgust and wipe my hands all over my lips trying to get rid of his germs that now we're on my lips.
He pouts making me really want to kiss him but I knew I couldn't because of the drama it would cause of me not thinking before I take action.
"We should play a new game."
"Yea we should, one that involves you focusing on the road."
He playfully sticks his tongue out at me.
"That's not very polite Justin," I giggle.
I feel a yawn approaching so I quickly cover my mouth with my hand. My eyes begin to close every so often.
"Justin how far away are we?" I yawn.
"Six hours away baby doll."
I was too tired at this point to tell him to quit giving me cute pet names. So I let it slide this once.
"Please pull over let's spend the night at a hotel."
"My pocket can only afford a motel babe," he frowned.
"I have some money on me we can split the bill."
"No way. I'm not letting a pretty girl like you have to pay for anything."
I blush. "Justin we're not dating it doesn't matter."
"It does so!" he says a little too excitedly.
"I'm paying and it's final."
"Just let me pay Justin."
"Only if you call me daddy," he smirks clearly proud of himself.
I roll my eyes. "Of course you would have a daddy kink."
"I'm still waiting for you to call me daddy Nova."
"It's not happening you idiot."
"So I guess I'm paying for a motel."
"NO!"
"All you have to do is call me daddy, babygirl."
"Please let me pay daddy," I say not liking the way the words sounded coming off my tongue.
"Ha."
"What do you mean ha?" I question furrowing my eyebrows.
"You really thought I would let you pay?"
"God I hate you so much Justin. If you tell anyone about this I will murder you slowly."
"Whoa calm down babe. I can keep this on the down low if you can," he winks.
"You better," I threaten.
About half an hour later he pulls off the road into the motel's parking lot. It seemed like no one else was here making me shiver in fear. The sign of the motel was only lighting up a few letters.
"Justin I'm not so so sure about this place," I say nervously feeling my palms getting sweaty.
"I'll protect you love. There's nothing I can't handle," he smiles.
"I sure hope so," I say while unbuckling myself while he does the same.
"Don't worry. I'll be your hero if anything happens."
"Don't heroes wear capes," I giggle.
"Not all heroes need capes babe."
