Mason
"Mason." Piper singsonged, her voice echoing through the silent bathroom.
I laughed and opened up the stall. "Thank you for coming."
"No problem. Now let's go chica, When we back to your house we can watch some sappy chick flicks and burn pictures of Alex we find in the house."
I shake my head, "You're crazy."
"That's old news. Now come on, we can have Nico stop at Target on the way and we can get some food."
"I just ate."
"Yeah, but, food."
I shrugged and nodded. "You're right, let's go." She intertwined our fingers and lead the way out. Much to my surprise, Alex was still sitting at the booth, with Nico standing beside him a pained expression on his face. Only now did I see that Alex was in fact, hunched over with his hands holding his crotch, whilst Nico just stood there looking as if he was in pain as well. I stopped walking making Piper turn to look at me. "You actually kicked him?"
She nodded, a proud smile on her lips. "I promised you that I would."
I couldn't help but laugh, "Piper."
She shrugs simply and begins pulling me along again. "He deserved it. As they heard us approaching, both boys' head snapped in our direction. Piper made sure to give Alex one last dirty look as she pulled us out the door. Just as we began climbing into his truck, Nico came outside, jogging over to us.
"Thank you, Nico," I say as he finishes buckling up.
He smiles at me through the rearview mirror. "Anything for you Mase."
Piper turns around and smiles at me, mouthing, 'Watch this.' Confused, I tilt my head as she turns back to Nico. "Hey, Nico."
He looks over at her with a wide smile as he turns the key in the ignition. "Yeah?"
"Can we go to Target?"
"But I promised Sutton and Parker we could play Fortnite when I got back because you said you were going to be with Mase."
"Yeah and you can, but we really want to go to Target first."
He slumps, groaning. "But I hate going shopping."
"Please." She smiles up at him, eyes wide and grabs his hand, locking their fingers together. "We really wanna go."
He nods, sighing. "Okay, let's go."
Piper squeals and leans up, pecking his cheek. "Thank you."
He grumbles out a, "Yeah, yeah."
Twenty minutes later and we're climbing out of Nico's truck. Piper immediately comes to my side, linking our arms together.
"Way to leave me out." Nico whines from behind us. We both turn around and look at him and of course, he's pouting like a small, petulant child with his arms crossed over his chest.
Piper sticking her other elbow out. "Come on."
Nico simply shakes his head and walks up in between us, pushing us apart. "I want to be in the middle." and there he was, towering over the both of us, arms linked with ours as his face holds the widest grin. He's honestly a child.
Eventually, we find ourselves looking at clothes while Nico leans against a wall, whining about how we said we were just getting snacks. "Nico, you can't expect us not to look at the clothes. Can you?" Piper asks.
"Yes, I can!"
"No, you can't. Now come on, help us pick out some new pajamas we can get to match."
He jumps off the wall, "I want to get matching ones too."
"You want to get girl pajamas?"
"Well, no."
"How about we both get the same colored pants and then we can go and all get matching shirts." I offer.
"See Mase, what would we do without you?" Piper chimes.
"Die." I say rather bluntly causing the couple to shake their heads.
After a good forty minutes, we've finally all decided on matching pajamas. More or less, Nico's decided on matching pajamas. Who knew the boy could be so picky. I grabbed Miles a pair too, knowing he'd feel left out and hoping that maybe, it would make him less annoyed about my earlier decision, especially when he finds out the way it ended.
Another twenty minutes and we had all picked out enough junk food to last a month. Nico insisted on paying, which Piper and I told him was absurd but he refused to listen to either one of us. The three of us belted out One Direction the entire way home though most of it was spent with me and Piper dying of laughter any and every time Nico opened his mouth to sing. The boy was one hundred percent, tone deaf. So tone deaf that it literally hurt my ears but he continued singing on, knowing every single word on the album.
My stomach hurt by the time we pulled into the driveway, this time Nico pulling all the way up to the garage door. Piper clambered out, grabbing the bags that were placed at her feet and shutting her door. I was just about to open the door when Nico spoke up, "Hey Mase?"
"Yeah?" I looked back at him.
"I'm sorry for Alex."
I gave him a small smile. "Thank you, Nico, but you don't need to apologize for him." He simply nods and we both get out and follow Piper into the house.
Though he was busy playing video games with Parker and Sutton, Nico had made sure to change into his pajamas, come into my room and force us to all take multiple pictures together in the mirror. Now Piper and I were laying in my bed, under my duvet with bags of junk food surrounding us.
I was busy focusing on the TV, Monica was sick and trying to convince Chandler that she wasn't sick along with trying to seduce him when someone knocked on the door. Not thinking much of it, I yelled, "Come in!"
I glance over as the door opens and then back to the tv. My face scrunches instantly and I look back to the door, finding none other than Alex standing there. Before I can think of anything to say, Pipers climbs out of my bed and is standing slightly in front of me, blocking me from Alex's view. "Get out."
"Mason, please just let me talk to you."
"What do you not get? She doesn't want to speak to you Alex."
"Mason, please."
I sigh, wondering if I'm going to regret my decision. "Piper, could you give us a minute?"
She looks back to me and nods, "Okay but yell if you need me." I nod and smile at her. She pauses looking at Alex, "And you better watch yourself because I'm not afraid to kick you again, or multiple times. Whatever is justified." Alex swallows but stays quiet as she leaves, shutting the door behind her. "Remember what I said, Alexander!" Piper shouts one last time through the door.
"Mason."
"Hm?" I hum, too busy focusing on my fingernails.
"Mason, please look at me." He pleads and of course, me being the idiot I am, I do. When I do, I find a guilty looking Alex. Despite his sad look, however, I felt nothing but anger and hurt.
After a few minutes of silence, I look back down to my duvet, picking at a loose string. "Is there something you needed to say or did you just come here to tell me again, how you like me but you'd rather not because you can't help yourself and you'd prefer to sleep with multiple girls." I snap.
I see him step forward out of my peripherals. "That's not what I said."
I scoff, "Basically." I shake my head. "I'm not even sure why you're in here. You said what you needed to say and I'm pretty damn sure I told you that I wanted you to quit talking to me. So honestly, I really couldn't two fucks about what it is you feel you need to say."
He moves forward until he's right beside my bed. "Mason."
"Would you quit saying my name? Honestly, if you have nothing else to say then just leave." I pull my bottom lip in between my teeth, willing myself to not cry though it's of little to no use and soon, they're sliding down my face. Within seconds, Alex is on my bed, pulling me into his arms, his hand rubbing up and down my back.
"I'm so sorry, Mase."
I quickly shake my head, pulling myself away from him. Wiping my tears, I begin to gnaw on the inside of my cheek. "You know, the more you say it, the less I believe you." He reaches forward to grab my hand but I quickly pull away, not wanting any contact with him.
Little did I know that I would be so hurt over the entire situation. Then again, I basically had someone tell me they like me but I wasn't worth being tied down to, therefore, they wish they didn't like me. I mean, who even says that? And why is he even here? I just wanted him to leave me alone, so I can watch Friends with Piper, shove junk food into my mouth and then wallow in my own self-pity when I was alone.
He places his hand on my knee, so I quickly pull my legs up, wrapping my arms around them and resting my chin on my knees. "I really am sorry, Mason. I didn't mean to upset you. I'm just unsure."
"Unsure about what Alex?" I deadpan
"I mean, you never even told me if you liked me or not." He deferred.
I shake my head, blinking back another onset of tears. "Would it even matter if I did? Because if I can recall properly, you said you didn't want to be in a relationship with me."
"I never said that I didn't want to be in a relationship with you Mason."
"Then what do you think you said?"
"You still haven't even said yes or no on liking me." Again, dodging my question.
"Of course I like you, Alex. I wish I didn't because it'd be a hell of easier and then I wouldn't be sitting here crying over some boy who doesn't even think I'm worth it."
"Mason, I never said you weren't worth it."
I threw my hands up, exasperated. "No Alex, you just said that you were unsure; Which reminds me, Alex, what are you so unsure about? Unsure if you actually like me? Or are you unsure if I'm worth it to you."
"I just, I don't know who or what I want."
I bit my lip as tears, yet again, began streaming down my cheeks. "You know what, that's fine. I'll make it easy for you. If you're hesitating between me and another person, or other people, don't choose me."
"Mas-"
"Just go."
"Please just,"
"No. I don't want to hear it. I don't care, Alex."
"But,"
"No. Just leave me alone."
"If you could just give me some time, then I,"
Of course, I began crying harder. "Then what Alex? You want me to give you time so you can try and figure out if I'm good enough for you? If I'm worth giving up all the other girls in the world." I can't help but laugh humorously, tears continuously falling, "I change my mind, you're not worth it. You're not worth the anger and pain. You're not worth me, questioning my worth. You're not worth it to me. Now if you could kindly, fuck off; I'd really appreciate it." He stared at me, a multitude of emotions flickering through his eyes. Thankfully, he finally got up and walked out but not before looking back at me once more before shutting the door.
As soon as I was sure the door was completely shut, I allowed the sobs to wrack my body, burying my face into my knees. Moments later, arms were wrapping around my body. Looking up, I couldn't help but laugh as Nico, Piper and Miles all fought with another on who got to hug me first.
Piper easily won, however, though I'd say it's because she was the most intimidating out of the three. Soon enough, everyone had gotten their turn to hug me when Miles suddenly gasped, quite loudly as well. "Are you all wearing matching pajamas?" he demanded, looking absolutely heartbroken. I laughed loudly and threw back my duvet, climbing out of my bed. "I don't know what you find so funny about this situation Mason Marie. I can't believe you left me out of the matching pajamas brigade."
Shaking my head, I walk into my closet and then back out, holding his set of pajamas in my hand. "You got me some?" He squeals.
"Of course I did. Did you really think I could forget about my GBF?"
"GBF?" he furrowed his eyebrows, confused.
"Gay best friend, duh." Piper chimes in.
"What, you know I'm gay?"
Piper snorts, "Miles, everyone knows you're gay. We've all just been waiting around for you to tell us yourself."
"What? How?"
"Um, I don't know. Maybe because you demanded you be Juliet in our eighth-grade play as soon as you found out Declan Jameson was playing Romeo. Or in Kindergarten when you carried around a pink, glitter purse for the entire year and halfway into first grade. Or it could be because you make out with guys at parties when you're drunk."
"Oh." Miles blinks.
"Yeah, well anyway. Go get changed, I'm hungry. Let's order Chinese. Oh and maybe some pizza's." Nico said, climbing into the far end of my bed. "What do you guys want to watch? I was thinking comedy. Hey, what about The Little Mermaid?"
