Chapter five

1960's Decor at restaurant's for somewhat wealthy people were all based around being a nightclub but not serving tons of food.

However, The Stork Club takes pride in their menu's, cocktails, including the clients they bring in. Some of them being John F. Kennedy himself, Frank Sinatra, and Monroe herself.

Wilma felt out of place, like a game piece belonging to a whole different game entirely. Maybe the situation will turn around once James explains the job more to her.

To maybe feel more welcomed with The Stork Club's atmosphere.

He takes Wilma's hand and leads them to a corner of The Stork Club where theirs a wide circular leather couch with a black table accompanying them.

As Wilma sits down, she wonders if she is under-dressed being in a place like this.

"How on earth did you get to be in a place like this", she says. "The whole area appears to only serve those in the higher class".

A waitress walk's over handing them the vanilla cream colored menu's.

"Don't worry though. They will take anyone that will pay".

James in the past would always and only interview those who are seeking employment. Strangely, he felt this feeling in his chest that spoke to him. The moment James started to feel things was when he saw Wilma crying in her car.

Just only a few hours ago.

"Since you've been here before", Wilma begins to say. "What shall we order first"?

She wouldn't know what alcoholic beverages pair with which food item. Wilma doesn't spend money on the more expensive or the finer things.

Soon the waitress came with two glasses including a round tin bucket with ice. Inside the tin was a clear bottle of sparkling champagne.

"Here are your beverages", she places the glasses down by both Wilma and James before opening the bottle.

"Would their be anything the two of you be needing tonight", the waitress begins to pour each of them their sparkling beverage.

"That will be all for know", James tells her in a very nice way.

After pouring the glasses, the waitress places the tin bucket with the bottle of champagne on the table. "Let me know if you'll be needing anything else". After saying those words the waitress begins to walk off.

James reaches and grabs his glass and raises it. "To the future".

Wilma smiles and reaches for her own glass. "To the future".

They cling their glasses and each took a sip, enjoying the sparkling sensation of flavor going on each of their tongues and down the throat.

The choice of sparkling champagne took Wilma by superise. She only tried this champagne before once when she was in college.

"Know lets discuss the gory details", James begins to say.

"About the job you mean", Wilma asks.

He chuckles at Wilma's cute question and her honesty. "Yeah that's correct".

At one point the classical music filled the entire room, filling in the empty void. Only two chairs were being occupied: one of them being with James and Wilma. The rest were all empty, except the bar being filled with drunken laughter.

"The job that im here to discuss with you is about a front desk job, almost being like the gatekeeper. Making sure those who don't have an appointment stay out and make sure everything is in order. It's like being an receptionist and being the assistant manager".

The job description seems like a good offer. But what company will she be working for?

James took another sip of his glass before speaking once again.

"I work for a man who prides himself in leadership. The company is expanding through more territory's and I need someone to help me do so".

Wilma thought about this for a moment. She still doesn't know what company James works for is even called. "What's the mysterious company that takes pride in leadership called".

"Its called Leonard's Money and we help those in loans or who are in debt".

It sounds innocent enough.

"When do I start when deciding to take the job"?

"Usually the next day", he begins to say. "But considering your situation, I'll give you three to four days to get things in order".

But should she take those four day's or should Wilma start right away? Maybe she should take some time to think about it.

James pulled out a small card with the Leonard's Money company name and a phone number.

"Take some time to think about the job if you need to". Wilma examines the card more closely to make sure she remembers all of the info gets into her head for memory.

All of a sudden the waitress comes back, reminding them that The Stork Club was about to close for tonight.

James places a fifty dollar bill and thanks the waitress for the sparkling champagne.

"Hope the two of you have a great night".
