Achievers from the world over

Craving others' adulation gather.

They were visibly at their best.

With names blazoned on their vest.

But in truth, they were a motley shower.

In abundance, they arrived on the hour.

Doing their absolute best not to look dour.

Laughing openly in the other face.

Everyone wanted to win the race.

Rumour has it that the loser turned off the power.
