Maplestream was laying in her nest watching Darklface nurse her kit wile Blackclaw stod over them proudly.Darkface had given birth to two kits but one died moments after birth."What are you going to name her?"Maplestream asked Darkface as she let the small white kit play with her tail.

"I think I'll name her Snowkit."Blackclaw purred"That's a perfect name."Maplestream smiled at her friend, Sandfire, and Blackclaw were like brothers.Amberkit came running into the nursery, his brother Moonkit not far behind him.Moonkit tripped on his brothers tail and went flying into Maplestreams flank.He slid down and landed softly beside her and started to cry.

"Amberkit, how many times do I have to tell you?Be careful around your brother."Lillytail scolded the brown kit.Maplestream bent her head and covered the mewing kit with soothing strokes."There now, you're fine."Maplesteram said then nudged him to his mother.Over the past moons, Maplestream saw that Moonkit was getting weaker and never seemed to grow any bigger like his brother.

Maplestream padded out of the nursery to the fresh-kill pile, she was getting more hungry every day.She grabbed a vole and went over to a small shady spot next to her mother.Berryleaf looked at her kit with pride."I never thought that my own kit would become a mother."Maplestream smiled at her, her mother was always a cat who she admired.Suddenly a burst of pain hit her, Maplestream cried in agony.

"Get Streamleaf, Maplestrem is giving birth!"The sweet scent of Sandfire reached around Maplestream calming her.Don't worry I'm right here with you.Came his soft voice and Maplestream saw his stary figure lead her to the nursery."No, don't leave me."Maplestream gasped and she followed him to her nest.

Streamleaf came in and sat next to her Berryleaf came in close behind her."Now just breathe and it will be over soon."Berryleaf said, as a spasm hit Maplestream and soon laying on the nest was a small kit.It had Sandfires light sand color.We have a son, purred Sandfires voice.Maplesteram dragged the tom toward her, it opened it moth and mewed.

Maplesream smiled this was a moment that she would never forget.Then a spasm hit her and she cried in agony as a kit lay next to its brother, the kit was a black kit with an orange spot on her head.Another spasm hit her and then with a great push two kits lay in the nest, one was patched like her mother and the other was a light sand color like his father but had Maplestreams orange patches.

Soon Maplestream lay in her nest with her kits worn out by the ordeal.Sandfires stary tail brushed her flank."What will you name them?"Berryleaf asked.Mapelstream rested her tail on the light sand tom" His name will be Sandkit"

Then she moved her tail to the black she-kit with the orange spot on her head" And her name will be Leafkit."

Then she rested her tail on the patched she-cat"Her name will be Larkit."Then she rested her tail on the last kit, the one who was a light sand color with orange patches."His name will be Goldkit."

Mapelstream then saw something was wrong with three of them.Sandkit, Leafkit, Larkit all looked ill."Streamleaf what is wrong with them?!"Streamleaf  bent to look at the kits"They may not survive the night they are sick."Mapelstream shook with fear.No I do not want my kits to die.She thought, then she curled around her kits.Before she went to sleep she heard Sandfire Don't worry they will be fine.
